Promoting Foreign Direct Investment In Bulgaria, Vessela Kapoulian
Inquiry: The University of Arkansas Undergraduate Research Journal
This paper examines the factors that favor Foreign Direct Investment ( FDI) in Bulgaria and recommends public policy changes that will enhance the international competitiveness of Bulgaria. Four factors that favor an increase in FDI in Bulgaria are clearly identified. First, although the economic environment is considered challenging compared to other countries in the region, Bulgaria enjoys political stability. Second, Bulgaria offers a low-cost, well-educated labor pool, although additional public investments in foreign language training may be needed. Third, there are investment opportunities for infrastructure development through privatization in the areas of energy, information technology (IT), and transportation. Bulgaria is …

The aim of this paper is twofold: to show the positive growth effect on economies through steady stock market growth, and to analyze the performance of India’s stock markets over the last decade on national growth. I start out in Section I with economic analyses of the high correlation between stock market indicators and the development of all financial institutions. Studies conducted by other economists prove correlations between the stock market and other macroeconomic indicators such as liquidity, level of banking, volatility, consumption, income and stock prices. The main purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the existence of seasonality in monthly stock returns and the relationship between seasonal return and firm size effect in the Malaysian equity mark.et. The sample consists of six Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) sectoral indices and Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) for the period from January 1987 to December 2001. The main finding of the study is that seasonality according to the Gregorian calendar is present in the Malaysian stock market which is mainly manifested as a January effect. The objective of this research is to determine whether there is statistical evidence in performance persistence of Malaysia unit trusts. Tests for performance persistence is also tests for weak form market efficiency of unit trusts in Malaysia. The study is also of practical value since performance persistence indicates that past performance is good prediction of future performance. If there was statistical evidence on performance persistence, then Investors should select the unit trusts to invest based on past performance of the unit trusts. Penyelidikan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji foktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pa.saran wang di Malaysia, khususnya bagi permintaan dan penawaran wang serta kesannya ke atas pelaksanaan dasar kewangan di Malaysia. Agregat kewangan M1, M2 clan M3 sebagai pembolehubah bergantung bagi permintaan dan penawaran wang.
