Mlcp Of Red Bull, Micah Winningham
Scholarly Horizons: University of Minnesota, Morris Undergraduate Journal
Red Bull is a marketer and distributor of one of the first major sports drinks to be introduced into the world, called the same name: Red Bull energy. Since the inception of the drink in the mid 1980’s by Dietrich Mateschitz in Austria as an attempt to create an alternative to coffee, the drink and brand of the Red Bull organization have exploded into one of the most popular and recognizable organizations of all time. The brand pushes the idea of their product giving the greatest boost of energy, and their slogan “Red Bull gives you wings!” reinforces the idea …

Organizational Communication In The Wnba, Paris Fierkelepp
Scholarly Horizons: University of Minnesota, Morris Undergraduate Journal
There are over 42,000 organizations in the world, each of which has their own style and practice of organization communication. Out of all those organizations, the one that I chose as the subject of my research paper is the Women’s National Basketball Association, better known as the WNBA. Throughout this paper, I will provide a brief history of the WNBA, patterns that I have identified regarding communication in the WNBA, connections between communication in the WNBA and the course content, some problems I identified regarding the communication in the WNBA, and my recommendations for fixing those problems.

Affective, Cognitive, Behavioral Appeals In A Parasocial Breakup With Podcast Hosts Of Radiolab, M.O. Vilceanu, Kristine Johnson
AMTP Proceedings 2024
This is the first study to investigate parasocial breakups in the context of long-term podcast listening. Radiolab, which is produced by WNYC in New York, is an award-winning program that reaches millions of people. Starting as a radio show in 2002 and later offering a podcast format in 2007, show creators and former hosts, Robert Krulwich and Jad Abumrad, entertained audiences with their journalistic investigations of science-related topics while later incorporating societal and political content in the program. Yet similar to successful long-running television programs, Radiolab has undergone host changes. Today, the official hosts are Latif Nasser and Lulu Miller, …

An Analysis Of Online Perceptions In Response To Microsoft’S And Google’S Scandals., Roxana Maiorescu
Emerson Authors, Researchers, & Creators
This study contributes to the literature on corporate diversity and crisis management by analyzing stakeholder perceptions in the aftermath of Google’s and Microsoft’s sexual harassment scandals. The results reveal that both scandals were construed from the perspective of activism, an inherent feature of social media communication. While users made demands for additional corrective action from both companies, Google’s scandal was predominantly defined from the frames of controllability and perceived injustice, possibly eroding corporate reputation. By contrast, the frame of severity prevailed in the online discourse around Microsoft and showed a delineation between perceptions of senior leadership and HR. The findings …

Reducing Loneliness And Improving Social Support Among Older Adults Through Different Modalities Of Personal Voice Assistants, Valerie Jones, Changmin Yan, Marcia Shade, Julie Blaskewicz Boron, Zhengxu Yan, Hyeon Jung Heselton, Kate Johnson, Victoria Dube
College of Journalism and Mass Communications: Faculty Publications
This study examines the potential of AI-powered personal voice assistants (PVAs) in reducing loneliness and increasing social support among older adults. With the aging population rapidly expanding, innovative solutions are essential. Prior research has indicated the effectiveness of various interactive communication technologies (ICTs) in mitigating loneliness, but studies focusing on PVAs, particularly considering their modality (audio vs. video), are limited. This research aims to fill this gap by evaluating how voice assistants, in both audio and video formats, influence perceived loneliness and social support. This study examined the impact of voice assistant technology (VAT) interventions, both audio-based (A-VAT) and video-based …

An Analysis: Interpersonal Conflict Resolution In Children's Television, Molly Griffith, Yared Alemu
Concordia Journal of Communication Research
Children in the United States today are consuming television at a vastly higher rate than we have seen before (Sigman, 2012). Due to this hands off approach, there has been an increase in parents' cognition of what television their children are consuming which includes both entertainment television or educational television. The researchers highlighted the importance of teaching proper interpersonal conflict resolution to children through the television they are consuming as they learn through all observations. We highlighted the types of conflicts that are depicted in the children's show Bluey which is an educational children's television series produced in Australia. Researchers …

An Analysis Of The Relationship Between The Workload And Stress Of Colleg Athletes, Sadie Voss
Concordia Journal of Communication Research
College students attending a university were asked to participate in a study regarding course workload and stress. It was found that student-athletes tend to carry more stress due to the time commitment to their sport. The researchers asked questions from a stress test to evaluate how stress impacted these students. In the survey, they factored in major, minor, credits per semester, internships, and jobs. All of these factors had a part in determining the amount of stress a student had. The study addressed in depth the relationship between a student’s course workload and the amount of stress they have which …

The Marketable Me: A Personal Branding Exploration, Amanda Prichard
The Marketable Me: A Personal Branding Exploration, Amanda Prichard
Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects
The concept of personal branding was introduced in 1997 by Tom Peters in an essay entitled “The Brand Called You”. Since that term was introduced, there has been an explosion of media written about it and many different perspectives formed. In this social media driven age, much of the public understands personal branding as something for influencers and celebrities, when in reality it can, and should, be used by everyone. This project was created to be an intrinsic case study of my own personal branding experience as a college student looking to create a smooth transition into the post-graduation world. …

Nowadays, new technologies enable practitioners to create brand experience in the virtual world of computer games. Marketers use product placement to reach potential and current customers. In the meantime, computer games have become an attractive medium because they attract an increasingly wider audience of different genders and various age groups. Therefore, an important issue is to know and systematize current methods of brand placement in computer games. For the purpose, the author carried out 20 in-depth interviews with players of chosen computer games, Second Life, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and The Sims. According to the analysis, it can be distinguished …
