Thanks to a partnership between the Cedarville University School of Nursing and Department of Exercise Science, children in Springfield, Ohio will be getting a boost in health education and exercise activities.

The initiative will be led by Rachel Parill, Ph.D., associate professor of nursing, and April Crommett, Ph.D., associate professor of exercise science. Crommett and Parill, along with several Cedarville students, will work with the Springfield Promise Neighborhood to give better access to physical activities and health resources for children in low-income households.

Two Cedarville University seniors have been awarded a $2500 scholarship from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for their academic and extracurricular accomplishments.

Andrea Martinson, a biology major from Springfield, Ohio, and Amiah Warder, an environmental science major from Sheridan, Wyoming, area among just 13 students from an Ohio college or university to be awarded the 2015 Ohio EPA Environmental scholarship.

Foster Care Student Receives Scholarship, Mark D. Weinstein

Since 2013, Cedarville University has provided a full-tuition scholarship to a student who has come through the foster system in Ohio. Luke Combs, of Springfield, is the recipient this year and expects to major in ministry.

To be considered for the scholarship, a student must be in the custody of a foster home in Ohio or a ward of the state of Ohio, meet regular admission requirements and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).

New construction or renovations to Cedarville University campus while students are on summer vacation is typical for the physical plant staff. This summer, however, the employees have been collecting 200 mattresses and 80 bedframes that will be donated to the Bed Brigade, a Columbus-based ministry of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Representatives from Bed Brigade and Cedarville University will come together on July 24 at Cedarville University to load the mattresses and frames on a truck so they can be given to lower income people in Columbus. National Firm Names Dayton, Cedarville University Among Best Colleges In Ohio, Mark D. Weinstein

Bestcolleges.com, a national organization that ranks colleges and universities throughout the United States, announced today the top 25 colleges in Ohio. With more than 130 colleges and universities statewide, coming up with its top 25 schools takes considerable data and time.

According to the 2015 list, six of the 25 universities on the list are from southwestern Ohio. The University of Dayton, ranked #6, and Cedarville University, ranked #7, are the highest ranked universities from the Miami Valley. Overall, the highest ranked college is Oberlin, followed by Kenyon College, Ohio State, Denison University, and Case Western Reserve.
