This study examines the effects of social support in intergenerational relationships among women in families. The research examines ethnography as a study, some of the benefits of research done in intergenerational communication, changes in this communication over the time span of the intergenerational relationships, the transmission of this communication, social support, the positive effects of the phenomenon of this type of communication for all those participating in this dynamic process, and the heuristic value of this research. This research project tests whether empathy has an affect upon ratings of speeches. First the rater' s individual level of empathy is surveyed. Next, the many different definitions of empathy are broken down into cognitive and affective perspectives and altruistic motivations. The likelihood of empathy being a dispositional or situational trait is discussed. Various methods used to train individuals to enhance their empathic skills through behavior observation and schools and how effective these methods have proven to be is identified. Community relations programs have become extremely popular within organizations over the past several years. This manuscript will take a closer look at how these community relations programs influence the decision's individuals make when determining which organizations they want to support. Through a case study analysis Wal-Mart's affiliation with the Children's Miracle Network was analyzed in order to determine why organizations do community relations programs and the effect they have on an individual's choice in which organizations they support. In this article, the author utilizes a theoretical approach to discuss the complexity of digital networks and the necessary cognitive adaptations humans need to process the amount of information shared over them. Several propositions are discussed including fuzziness, conscious Ideation, knowledge networks, idea structures, and idea coercion. It is theorized that ideas make up our consciousness and provide a more open definition to the experiences that combine the cognitive process. Current Communication-based social movement theory provides an excellent framework for analyzing social movements at a superficial level, but it neglects to include one important aspect that influences social movements – the culture in which a social movement takes place. The dominant theories used to evaluate social movements are written with a Western, North-American bias and thus are inadequate tools for explaining social movements that occur in other cultures. Although the public generally thinks of the news media as sources of factual, complete and objective information, due to the routines of production through which journalists are trained to use to present and gather news, they cannot be objective. May 7, 1999 – A U.S.-supported NATO mission bombs the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade. Within hours the two countries are in the midst of political strife and cultural misunderstanding. As Chinese and U.S. media illustrate, there is one bombing and two very different stories. How correct is the media picture? The question lies at the heart of this research. This study was conducted at the Public Health Institute (PHI) of the Ministry of Health in Kuala Lumpur to find out the communication sty les of the Division Heads perceived by the subordinates, and their influence on the subordinates' organizational commitment. The survey method was used to collect the necessary information to answer the research questions. The questionnaires were distributed to 125 staff at the Public Health Institute but only 93 completed questionnaires were received. The purpose of this study is to highlight those features of the Malaysian varieties of English found in the creative writing of post-colonial author K. S. Maniam, showing how they are used to enhance characterization, foregrounding ethnicity and emphasizing social status, and to authenticate the cultural setting of his works. This study examines language maintenance and shift among the Portuguese Eurasians living in the Portuguese Settlement in Malacca. Firstly, this study focuses on the use of Kristang in seven domains: work/school, transaction, family, neighbourhood, friendship, entertainment and prayer. Secondly, it investigates the attitude of the subjects towards Kristang, English end Malay. The instrument used in conducting this study is a forty-two item questionnaire administered on sixty-four respondents based on the variables of age, gender and socioeconomic status. This essay draws on the work of French philosopher Louis Althusser, particularly his contributions to the development of ideology, in an assessment of the relationship between communication ana freedom. Althusser's understanding of freedom as an ideological creation not only privileges the role of ideology in the construction of social relationships, but also calls into question the complex interplay between media, society, and freedom.
