Examining The Features Of Former Research Regarding Substance Abuse Treatment, Autumn Gonzales

Posters - 2025

“Drug misuse is one of the major social, legal, and publichealth challenges in the modern world” (Nutt et al., 2007). This study explored the characteristics of former research on substance abuse treatment approaches and treatment settings. Past literature showed short-term treatment can be beneficial depending on what works best for the individual and studies have shown short-term treatment has helped individuals with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). However, long-term treatment is the preferred method for individuals as it has a lower chance of relapse. A small systematic review was conducted from which data were coded of former published articles. A frequency …

The Impact Of Tariffs On Auto Parts Trade With China, Canada And Mexico: Ai-Driven Strategies For Supply Chain Optimization, Katie Cerda, Layla Dickerson, Riley Gibson, Oluwabunmi Sanusi Apr 2025

The Impact Of Tariffs On Auto Parts Trade With China, Canada And Mexico: Ai-Driven Strategies For Supply Chain Optimization, Katie Cerda, Layla Dickerson, Riley Gibson, Oluwabunmi Sanusi

Posters - 2025

U.S. tariffs (7.5-25%) on auto parts from China, Canada, and Mexico are severely disrupting the automotive industry, a key global economic driver. These tariffs dramatically increase production costs and vehicle prices, potentially by up to $12,200 per vehicle (CBS News, 2025; MarketWatch, 2025). These tariffs necessitate major supply chain adjustments, leading to inefficiencies (MIT Sloan, 2024). Supplier diversification, while intended to mitigate tariff impact, extends lead times and shrinks profit margins (XenonStack, 2025). The industry's complex supplier network is now highly vulnerable, compelling companies to seek more adaptable strategies. AI-driven technologies like predictive analytics and route optimization offer potential solutions …

Posters - 2025

The National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) measure substance use, mental illness, and treatment in the civilian noninstitutionalized population 12 or older. Depression is a public health epidemic that disproportionately affects young adult populations aged 18-25. At the same time, the consumption of marihuana is on the rise and more popular in this demographic group.

This statistical study aims to identify and model predictors of major depressive disorders (MDE) and marijuana abuse among populations older than 18 via standard tests, modeling, odds ratios, and epidemiological approaches for 2023 NSDUH data.

A Research Proposal: Morality As A Social Construct, Samantha Gonzales Apr 2025

A Research Proposal: Morality As A Social Construct, Samantha Gonzales

Posters - 2025

Separating our minds from the constraints of our social constructs allows us to analyze problems from a place somewhere remotely close to unbiased. However, it is only after we understand that our sense of morale [i.e. right and wrong] originated as social constructs—that is to say, right and wrong have no reason to exist in an objective world. The very concept of right and wrong have been socially constructed from the beginning; they are, in their most simplistic nature, entirely subjective. Subjective in this sense means outside of the very people who speak of the words right and wrong in …

Discrimination At Work: Recognizing And Addressing Systemic Bias, Briana Heggy

Posters - 2025

Race-based workforce discrimination remains a significant issue in the U.S., particularly affecting African Americans, Latinos, and other minority groups. In 2021, the EEOC received over 60,000 workplace discrimination charges, with race discrimination being the most common complaint. Discrimination levels vary by state, influenced by factors like education, minority population size, and political affiliation. Higher education levels can increase awareness of discrimination laws, but also affect job opportunities and earnings. States with larger minority populations may experience different forms of racial discrimination, while political party influence can impact the enforcement of anti-discrimination laws. This research examines how these factors interact to …

The Acute Effects Of High-Intensity Functional Training On Inhibitory Control, Julia Daniel, Amaryllis Rubalcaba, Brianna Valadez

Posters - 2025

High-Intensity Functional Training (HIFT), such as CrossFit®, integrates high-intensity, multi-joint movements and has gained attention for its potential to enhance both physical and cognitive performance. While acute resistance exercise (RE) is known to influence physiological responses like heart rate variability (HRV) and cognitive functions such as inhibitory control, the specific effects of CrossFit®—a structured HIFT program—on cognitive outcomes remain underexplored, particularly when comparing trained CrossFit participants to untrained or non-CrossFit populations. HIFT’s unique combination of cardiorespiratory and muscular stress may uniquely enhance cognitive processing speed and response stability, especially in individuals with chronic CrossFit® experience. However, it is unclear how …

Key Factors In U.S. Mass Shootings: A Statistical Approach, Jared Martinez Apr 2025

Key Factors In U.S. Mass Shootings: A Statistical Approach, Jared Martinez

Posters - 2025

Mass shootings in the U.S. have surged at an alarming rate. From 1976 to 2018, there were 155 mass public shootings, resulting in 1,078 deaths and 1,694 nonfatal injuries and the rate has only accelerated in recent years. In just eight years (2013–2021), over 200 more occurred. Understanding the factors behind these tragedies is critical for prevention. The 2022 Uvalde school shooting, where an 18-year-old legally purchased assault rifles before killing 21 people, exemplifies the consequences of easy firearm access. By identifying patterns, we can help shape policies to reduce these horrific events and protect communities

When Art Inspires Wine Label Strategy: An Exploration Of French Winemakers’ Perceptions, Corinne Chevalier, Ghofrane Ghariani

AMTP Proceedings 2025

The use of a strategy involving original or atypical labels for prestige wines has shown its relevance in numerous studies. However, the implementation of an artification strategy in particular has rarely been addressed for wines, particularly those with an entry and mid-range positioning. Moreover, few studies have questioned professionals in the sector about the use of such a strategy. Consequently, the authors carried-out an exploratory study with 13 winemakers in order to gain a better understanding of the effects of this strategy on their entry and mid-range wines. This research reveals the winemakers' perception of the multiple benefits and risks …

A Factor Analytic Investigation Of The Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory - Second Edition In Justice Involved Youth, Mary Alicia Tait Apr 2025

A Factor Analytic Investigation Of The Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory - Second Edition In Justice Involved Youth, Mary Alicia Tait

Dissertations (1934 -)

The Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory – Second Edition (MACI-II; Millon et al., 2020) is an adolescent self-report measure of personality and psychopathology. Its predecessor, the Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory (MACI; Millon et al., 1993) is one of the most frequently used measures in forensic evaluation of justice involved youth (Archer et al., 2006; Baum et al., 2009; Viljoen et al., 2010). The factor structure of the MACI has been evaluated in diverse psychiatric and juvenile justice samples (e.g., Adkisson et al., 2002; Newman et al., 2015; Romm et al., 1999, Salekin, 2002; Woodland et al., 2014) and inconsistent findings have …

Distinct Neuropsychological Profiles Of Acute Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury, Mary Ursula Simons Apr 2025

Distinct Neuropsychological Profiles Of Acute Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury, Mary Ursula Simons

Dissertations (1934 -)

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can cause significant impairment in a child’s life, particularly impacting their cognitive and psychological functioning. Despite these significant consequences, there are currently no validated treatments to alleviate or mitigate the negative impact of TBI. Failed clinical trials in pediatric TBI are thought to be due to simplistic diagnostic criteria and coarse classification nomenclature (i.e., mild, moderate, severe), which results in significant variability in recovery within a classification category. Furthermore, other variables, such as age, preinjury functioning, social determinants of health (SDOH), and post-injury cognitive functioning, more effectively predict long term outcomes than classification nomenclature, highlighting the …
