การศึกษาเรื่อง กระบวนการยุติธรรมในการใช้มาตรการคุ้มครองสวัสดิภาพผู้ถูกกระทำด้วยความรุนแรงในครอบครัวต่อกลุ่มคนรุ่นใหม่ (Gen-Z) ของศาลเยาวชนและครอบครัวภายใต้บริบทสังคมไทย มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาถึงทัศนะ มุมมอง ความเชื่อ ค่านิยม ของกลุ่มคนรุ่นใหม่ (Gen-Z) ต่อสถาบันครอบครัว และความรุนแรงในครอบครัว และศึกษาถึงทัศนะ มุมมอง ความเชื่อ ค่านิยม ของ บิดา มารดา ผู้ปกครอง ผู้กระทำความรุนแรง และผู้ถูกกระทำความรุนแรงที่เป็นกลุ่มคนรุ่นใหม่ (Gen-Z) ที่เข้าสู่กระบวนการคุ้มครองสวัสดิภาพของศาลเยาวชนและครอบครัว ตลอดจนศึกษาบทบาทการดำเนินงาน และปัญหาอุปสรรคของกระบวนการยุติธรรมของศาลเยาวชนและครอบครัวในการคุ้มครองสวัสดิภาพบุคคลที่ถูกกระทำด้วยความรุนแรงในครอบครัว เพื่อความเข้าใจและพัฒนาแนวทางแก้ไขป้องกันความรุนแรงในครอบครัว โดยวิธีการในการดำเนินการวิจัยเป็นแบบผสมผสาน คือการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณผ่านการสำรวจความคิดเห็นกลุ่มคนรุ่นใหม่ (Gen-Z) ที่กำลังศึกษาอยู่ในระดับมหาวิทยาลัย 400 คน และการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพด้วยการวิเคราะห์และสังเคราะห์ข้อมูลจากการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ผู้กระทำความรุนแรงในครอบครัวซึ่งเป็นบิดามารดาหรือผู้ปกครอง และ ผู้ถูกกระทำด้วยความรุนแรงในครอบครัวที่เป็นกลุ่มคนรุ่นใหม่ (Gen-Z) ซึ่งเป็นบุตรหรือผู้อยู่ภายใต้การปกครอง ตลอดจนผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องในกระบวนการยุติธรรมในการใช้มาตรการคุ้มครองสวัสดิภาพของศาลเยาวชนและครอบครัวผลการศึกษาพบว่าทัศนะของกลุ่มคนรุ่นใหม่ Gen-Z ส่วนใหญ่มีพื้นฐานความเชื่อ ค่านิยมต่าง ๆ เกี่ยวกับครอบครัวคล้ายกับคนในยุคก่อน โดยยังเห็นว่าครอบครัวมีความสำคัญ แต่มีการรับรู้ถึงสิทธิมนุษยชนขั้นพื้นฐานในครอบครัวที่ไม่ควรมีการละเมิดทั้งทางร่างกายและจิตใจเด่นชัดขึ้น และส่วนหนึ่งมีมุมมองสะท้อนให้เห็นภาพสถาบันครอบครัวที่แตกต่างออกไป เช่น บ้านไม่ใช่พื้นที่ปลอดภัย พ่อแม่ไม่ควรคาดหวังให้ลูกมาดูแลในวัยชรา เป็นต้น ซึ่งเป็นมุมมองไปทางเดียวกันกับผู้ถูกกระทำความรุนแรงที่เข้าสู่กระบวนการคุ้มครองสวัสดิภาพของศาลเยาวชนและครอบครัวได้แสดงมุมมองต่อศาลหรือบุคคลในกระบวนการยุติธรรม สำหรับผู้กระทำความรุนแรงนั้น ส่วนใหญ่จะคิดว่าการกระทำของตนเองไม่เป็นความรุนแรง แต่เมื่อเข้าสู่กระบวนการและปฏิบัติตามคำสั่งศาลที่ออกเพื่อช่วยยับยั้งไม่ให้กระทำความรุนแรง และเพื่อแก้ไขบำบัดฟื้นฟูแล้ว ก็ยอมรับว่าช่วยให้สถานการณ์ในครอบครัวดีขึ้นสามารถเดินหน้าต่อไปได้ สะท้อนว่าบริบทของความรุนแรง ในครอบครัวได้เปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามแนวคิดใหม่ ซึ่งผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องในกระบวนการยุติธรรมในเรื่องนี้ต้องทบทวนและตระหนักถึงบริบทที่แปรเปลี่ยนไปดังกล่าวเพื่อสร้างสมดุลและสันติภาพภายในบ้าน อีกทั้งในระดับ มหภาคเพื่อช่วยกันรณรงค์ หรือกำหนดนโยบาย หรือกฎหมาย เพื่อสร้างสรรค์สังคมที่สงบสุขไร้ความรุนแรงอย่างยั่งยืน

บทบาทพระธรรมทูตในการทูตวัฒนธรรมของไทยต่ออินเดีย, ณัฐสิชฌ์ พินยะสิน

งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ศึกษาบทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยสายอินเดียซึ่งนับเป็นตัวแสดงสำคัญในการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศผ่านกิจกรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนาและสังคมสงเคราะห์ร่วมกับตัวแสดงในระดับต่าง ๆ ประกอบด้วย หน่วยงานด้านการต่างประเทศไทย รัฐบาลท้องถิ่นอินเดีย และสาธารณชนอินเดีย ทั้งหมดมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือและปฏิสัมพันธ์ทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างไทยและอินเดีย งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ใช้วิธีการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพและวิเคราะห์ผลการศึกษาตามกรอบแนวคิดว่าด้วยการทูตวัฒนธรรมที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงกลไกการทำงานของพระธรรมทูตและการสร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ทางสังคมที่มาจากการสื่อสารสองทาง โดยพิจารณาขอบเขตด้านเวลาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2500 ในการก่อตั้งวัดไทยพุทธคยา ที่เป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของความสัมพันธ์ทางพระพุทธศาสนาอย่างเป็นทางการ บทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยสายอินเดียต้องเผชิญกับความท้าทายในด้านความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรม ภาษา ศาสนา และวิถีชีวิต เพื่อปรับตัวให้เข้ากับสาธารณชนอินเดียและสามารถดำรงบทบาทในฐานะผู้แทนทางพระพุทธศาสนาในต่างประเทศอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ตลอดจนสามารถนำมาซึ่งความไว้เนื้อเชื่อใจของสาธารณชนอินเดียที่มีต่อไทย จากการศึกษาพบว่าพระธรรมทูตไทยไม่ได้มีเพียงบทบาทในการเผยแผ่พระพุทธศาสนาเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ยังมีบทบาทสำคัญในการเป็นศูนย์รวมจิตใจต่อสาธารณชนในพื้นที่และผู้ที่เดินทางมาจาริกแสวงบุญในพื้นที่สังเวชนียสถานทั้งสี่ตำบล และมีบทบาทในการสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีต่อสาธารณชนอินเดียจากการส่งเสริมกิจกรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนาและสังคมสงเคราะห์ ทำให้การขับเคลื่อนการทูตวัฒนธรรมไทยดำเนินไปอย่างยั่งยืนจากความศรัทธาและร่วมมือระหว่างไทยและอินเดียอย่างแน่นแฟ้น พร้อมทั้งเสริมสร้างภาพลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมและพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทไทยให้กลายเป็นจุดเด่นในสังคมอินเดีย ในขณะเดียวกัน พระธรรมทูตไทยได้มีบทบาทมากยิ่งขึ้นต่อการเจริญสัมพันธ์ไมตรีในต่างประเทศและได้รับการตอบสนองเป็นอย่างดีจากสาธารณชนและรัฐบาลท้องถิ่นของอินเดีย โดยวัดไทยในอินเดียได้มีจำนวนเพิ่มมากขึ้นเพื่อเป็นศูนย์อำนวยการช่วยเหลือพุทธศาสนิกชนที่เดินทางมาจาริกแสวงบุญ บทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงบทบาทในการขับเคลื่อนพระพุทธศาสนา วัฒนธรรม คุณภาพชีวิต และการท่องเที่ยว ทำให้การเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือระหว่างไทยและอินเดียดำเนินต่อไปอย่างยั่งยืนภายใต้พื้นฐานของความเข้าใจอันดี อย่างไรก็ตาม ผลลัพธ์ของการทูตวัฒนธรรมไม่สามารถสำเร็จได้ภายในระยะเวลาอันสั้น แต่ต้องถูกสั่งสมจนเกิดความไว้เนื้อเชื้อใจที่แสดงออกผ่านการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ ความร่วมมือ และนโยบายต่างประเทศ ด้วยเหตุนี้ การศึกษาประเด็นความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศสามารถพิจารณาถึงการทูตวัฒนธรรมที่เป็นอีกหนึ่งหนทางในการแสวงหาซึ่งผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติ โดยมีพระธรรมทูตไทยเป็นตัวแสดงทางการทูตที่มีส่วนสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศและเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการตอบสนองเจตนารมณ์ตามแผนแม่บทภายใต้ยุทธศาสตร์ชาติประเด็นการต่างประเทศ

การวิจัยเรื่อง “แนวทางในการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการป้องกันการเปิดบัญชีม้าของเด็กและเยาวชน” มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาสภาพปัญหา และสาเหตุการเปิดบัญชีม้าของเด็กและเยาวชน 2) เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการป้องกันปราบปรามการเปิดบัญชีม้าของเด็กและเยาวชน 3) เพื่อเสนอแนะแนวทางในการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการป้องกันการเปิดบัญชีม้าของเด็กและเยาวชน โดยอาศัยข้อมูลจากการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพและใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกับผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญจำนวน 15 คน โดยแบ่งออกเป็น 4 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ เจ้าหน้าที่รัฐที่มีหน้าที่ออกมาตรการทางกฎหมาย เจ้าหน้าที่บังคับใช้กฎหมาย พนักงานธนาคาร และผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านเด็กและเยาวชน ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลให้เด็กและเยาวชนตกเป็นเหยื่อบัญชีม้า มีปัจจัยสำคัญ 3 ประการ ได้แก่ 1) การขาดความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับอาชญากรรมทางการเงินและผลกระทบของการเป็นบัญชีม้า 2) การขาดการดูแลและคำแนะนำจากครอบครัว ทำให้เยาวชนถูกชักจูงได้ง่าย และ 3) แรงจูงใจทางเศรษฐกิจที่เด็กและเยาวชนได้รับค่าตอบแทนเป็นที่น่าดึงดูด อย่างไรก็ตาม ผลการศึกษายังชี้ให้เห็นถึงความสำคัญของบทบาทผู้ปกครองและหน่วยงานรัฐในการให้ความรู้และการเสริมสร้างภูมิคุ้มกันให้แก่เด็กและเยาวชน รวมถึงการกำหนดนโยบายที่ชัดเจนและครอบคลุม เช่น การจำกัดการเปิดบัญชีใหม่เพื่อป้องกันการกระทำผิด การวิจัยนี้เสนอแนวทางป้องกันเด็กและเยาวชนจากการตกเป็นเหยื่อบัญชีม้า โดยการให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับภัยที่อาจเกิดขึ้น รวมถึงการเสริมสร้างทักษะการคิดวิเคราะห์และการระวังภัยทางการเงินให้แก่เยาวชนอย่างเหมาะสมเพื่อเป็นการลดปัจจัยเสี่ยงและเสริมสร้างภูมิคุ้มกันให้เยาวชนไทย

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ศึกษาบทบาทขององค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นในการบริหารจัดการขยะมูลฝอยในพื้นที่เขตพัฒนาพิเศษภาคตะวันออก ในจังหวัดชลบุรี มีวัตถุประสงค์หลักในการศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการจัดการขยะมูลฝอยขององค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นภายในจังหวัด รวมทั้งจัดทำข้อเสนอแนะปรับปรุงแนวทางในการบริหารจัดการขยะมูลฝอยขององค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นเพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการของผู้คนในพื้นที่ ซึ่งงานศึกษาใช้วิธีการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ ผ่านการทบทวนเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกผู้ให้ข้อมูลที่มีความรู้ความเข้าใจด้านการจัดการขยะมูลฝอยในพื้นที่จังหวัดชลบุรี งานศึกษานี้พบว่า หน่วยงานภาครัฐส่วนกลางมีอำนาจเบ็ดเสร็จในการจัดทำแผนสิ่งแวดล้อม รวมทั้งการกำหนดนโยบายและกรอบทิศทางการบริหารจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อมในพื้นที่เขตพัฒนาพิเศษภาคตะวันออก ขณะที่องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นมีบทบาทหลักเป็นผู้นำนโยบายไปปฏิบัติจริง อย่างไรก็ตาม องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นแต่ละแห่งซึ่งมีบริบทที่แตกต่างกัน ไม่สามารถปฏิบัติตามนโยบายที่หน่วยงานภาครัฐส่วนกลางได้อย่างสมบูรณ์ นอกจากนั้น องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นระดับล่างแทบไม่มีส่วนร่วมในกระบวนการจัดทำแผนสิ่งแวดล้อมในพื้นที่ ในขณะที่องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นระดับบนมีบทบาทเพียงการเข้าร่วมประชุมเพื่อรับทราบข้อมูลเพียงเท่านั้น ในขณะที่ ในระดับปฏิบัติหน่วยงานภาครัฐส่วนกลางไม่มีบทบาทโดยตรง แต่เป็นบทบาทขององค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นระดับล่างและนิคมอุตสาหกรรมในจังหวัดชลบุรี ซึ่งไม่มีการบูรณาการระหว่างกันแต่อย่างใด โดยองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นระดับล่างต้องรับภาระจากขยะมูลฝอยที่เพิ่มขึ้นจากการขยายตัวของนิคมอุตสาหกรรมและชุมชนเมืองจากประชากรแฝง ซึ่งเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็วในพื้นที่ งานศึกษานี้เสนอให้มีการปรับปรุงขอบเขตอำนาจหน้าที่ขององค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น ให้สามารถรวมกลุ่มหรือร่วมมือกับองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นอื่นในลักษณะสหการได้ รวมทั้งเพิ่มความเป็นอิสระให้แก่องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นในพื้นที่สำหรับการบริหารจัดการบุคลากรและเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ รวมทั้งการสนับสนุนให้องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นในจังหวัดชลบุรีนำแหล่งรายได้ที่สามารถจัดเก็บได้เอง มาพัฒนาและบริหารจัดการขยะมูลฝอยและดูแลประชาชนในพื้นที่ของตนได้มากยิ่งขึ้น นอกจากนี้ กระทรวงมหาดไทยควรมีบทบาทเพิ่มมากยิ่งขึ้นในการเชื่อมโยงระหว่างหน่วยงานภาครัฐส่วนกลางกับองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น

การนำเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์มาใช้ในการป้องกันอาชญากรรมบนท้องถนน (Street Crime) ของกองบัญชาการตำรวจนครบาล, กุญชนิตา กุญชร ณ อยุธยา

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและวิเคราะห์การนำเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI) มาใช้ในการป้องกันอาชญากรรมบนท้องถนน (Street Crime) รวมถึงการระบุปัญหาและข้อจำกัดในการใช้งานเทคโนโลยีดังกล่าว เพื่อเสนอแนะแนวทางที่มีประสิทธิภาพสำหรับการป้องกันอาชญากรรมบนท้องถนนในบริบทของกองบัญชาการตำรวจนครบาล โดยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) ที่ใช้ทั้งการศึกษาข้อมูลจากเอกสาร (Documentary Research) และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth Interview) กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ศึกษาเป็นกลุ่มเฉพาะเจาะจง (Purposive Sampling) ประกอบด้วยเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจผู้ปฏิบัติหน้าที่ นักอาชญาวิทยา นักพัฒนาเทคโนโลยี AI นักวิชาการเทคโนโลยี AI และนักกฎหมายด้านเทคโนโลยี AI รวมจำนวน 13 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า AI ไปใช้ในการป้องกันอาชญากรรมบนท้องถนน (Street crimes) ได้ 4 ประการ ดังนี้ 1. การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล จากกล้องวงจรปิด (CCTV Analytics) 2. การจดจำใบหน้า (Facial Recognition) 3. การติดตามยานพาหนะ (Vehicle Tracking) 4.การยับยั้งและข่มขู่ผู้กระทำความผิดด้วย การติดตั้งกล้องวงจรปิด สำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติได้เริ่มนำ AI มาใช้ในพื้นที่นำร่องบางแห่งในกรุงเทพมหานคร แต่ยังไม่ได้ขยายการใช้งานให้ครอบคลุมทั่วประเทศ ประเทศไทยยังขาดความพร้อมในหลายด้านสำหรับการนำ AI มาใช้ในการป้องกันอาชญากรรม การทำงานร่วมกันระหว่างมนุษย์และ AI สามารถเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการป้องกันอาชญากรรมได้ดีกว่าการใช้อย่างใดอย่างหนึ่งเพียงลำพัง อีกทั้งการติดตั้งกล้องวงจรปิดที่ทำงานร่วมกับ AI ยังช่วยยับยั้งอาชญากรรมผ่านผลทางจิตวิทยาต่อผู้กระทำผิด อย่างไรก็ตาม การนำเทคโนโลยี AI มาใช้ยังมีปัญหาและข้อจำกัดสำคัญ เช่น ปัญหาอุปสรรคของการป้องกันอาชญากรรมโดยใช้เทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ 1) ความแม่นยำของ AI 2) ด้านกฎหมาย งบประมาณในการติดตั้งระบบ AI และกล้องวงจรปิด การฝึกอบรมเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจให้สามารถใช้งานเทคโนโลยีนี้ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ความเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดอคติ (bias) การวิจัยนี้จึงข้อเสนอแนะอาทิ สำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติกำหนดนโยบายในการวิเคราะห์สถิติการเกิดอาชญากรรมในแต่ละกองบังคับการตำรวจนครบาลและกำหนดพื้นที่ที่มีอัตราการเกิดอาชญากรรมสูงเพื่อทดลองใช้ AI ในการตรวจจับและป้องกันอาชญากรรม รวมทั้งการพัฒนาระบบ AI และการสร้างกรอบการทำงานที่เหมาะสมเพื่อสนับสนุนการใช้งานอย่างยั่งยืนและมีประสิทธิภาพในบริบทของการป้องกันอาชญากรรมในประเทศไทย

This study examined the perceptions of Volusia County citizens and patrol deputies regarding the severity of social harms attributed to incidents of criminal activity. Despite the widespread assessments of crime, the perceptions of associated harms remain unclear. Developing a social harm index may provide current insight into the opinions of harm as perceived by both the public and law enforcement agencies. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) continues to promulgate Safety Management Systems (SMS) across aviation organizations when it recently issued SMS requirements for EASA certificated Part 145 maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organizations and Part 21 Design & Manufacturing (D&M) organizations. Currently, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has no such rule in place for these U.S.-based organizations, which may challenge those doing business in countries where EASA policies apply. Flight data monitoring (FDM) began in the flight test community in 1939 and entered the airline industry in 1974. In the 48 years since, however, very few operators have chosen to adopt this practice, which has shown clear safety benefits where it has found acceptance. While technical issues have created some obstacles, cultural issues have proven the greatest hindrance to wider FDM adoption. These cultural issues originated in the traits associated with pilots’ personalities, especially distrust of the regulators and operators who would administer flight data analysis programs (FDAP) that used FDM information. This research analyzed the perceptions of interpersonal skills on established aviation safety models, Crew Resource Management (CRM), and Threat and Error Management (TEM) using feedback from industry pilots. The flight deck is a sociotechnical system where much research has focused on the technical aspect, whereas we spotlight its socio aspect. The aviation industry must invest in training pilots on interpersonal skills to enhance safety through increased efficacy of safety models integrated throughout existing training programs. Objective: Many child welfare scholars, practitioners, and funders are calling for greater inclusion of “lived experience” data and stakeholder voices in foster care research. Yet to date there have been no comprehensive summaries of studies that analyze data collected directly from older youth and adults with lived experience in out-of-home care. To address this knowledge gap, this scoping review maps the extent, nature, and sample characteristics of studies that analyzed data provided by persons age 14 and older with lived foster care experience. Identity crimes pose serious risks and challenges for youth in foster care. As young people move through various out-of-home placements and schools, their personal data are often widely disseminated, difficult to secure, and thus vulnerable to theft and misuse. When they transition from foster care to adulthood, identity crime victims with compromised credit histories may be denied loans, employment, and/or housing during the already-precarious period of emerging adulthood. Examining Variability In And Contextual Predictors Of College Student Belonging, Yangyue Li

The purpose of the study is to examine disparities in belonging and whether contextual factors predict a higher sense of belonging among fourth-year undergraduate students at UR. My findings suggest that 1) underrepresented students (with racial/ethnic minority, low-income, and first-generation identities) reported lower belonging compared to their majority peers, 2) inclusive campus climate and contact with peers from different backgrounds predicted greater belonging, and 3) first-generation status moderated the association between contact with diverse peers and sense of belonging.

I have written three separate policy briefs addressing issues in the pharmaceutical industry that allowed for the opioid epidemic to reach the magnitude that it has in the last three decades. I examined public policy regarding labeling, drug diversion, and misuse, as well as marketing. By studying existing policies, I was able to provide insight into possible reforms, while accounting for potential obstacles to systematic reform, such as constitutional concerns regarding free speech.

This research investigates the complex interplay between immigration labor and market equilibrium in the United States, focusing on the period from 2000 to 2019. By examining the correlation between the rate of net international migration and the unemployment-to-vacancy ratio (U/V) across 51 states, the study uncovers significant relationships that shed light on immigration dynamics in response to labor market conditions. The findings support the hypothesis that a decrease in the U/V ratio leads to an increase in immigration in the following period as immigrants seek improved job employment prospects.

Previous research has investigated the real-time processing and offline interpretation of metonyms. This work has generally shown that readers experience longer processing times for metonyms versus control nouns because of the extra time needed to access the figurative sense of a metonym. Recent research has also demonstrated different processing patterns on nonliteral language for individuals with autism spectrum disorder compared to typically developing participants. The current study was designed to explore whether previous findings on the processing of metonymy are modulated by individual differences in autistic personality traits. We examined the impact of exposure to a signed language (American Sign Language, or ASL) at different ages on the neural systems that support spoken language phonemic discrimination in deaf individuals with cochlear implants (CIs). Deaf CI users (N = 18, age = 18–24 yrs) who were exposed to a signed language at different ages and hearing individuals (N = 18, age = 18–21 yrs) completed a phonemic discrimination task in a spoken native (English) and non-native (Hindi) language while undergoing functional near-infrared spectroscopy neuroimaging. The paper focuses on a rarely analyzed superhero within the X-Men universe: the time-traveling mutant and law enforcement officer Lucas Bishop. Through highlighting core narrative themes consistent throughout his various depictions in comics and animation through the lens of a constructivist approach to sociomoral development (Social Cognitive Domain Theory; SCDT), the author contends that the character’s complexity and multifaceted nature potentially has implications for understanding superheroes like Bishop as subjects worthy of scholarly and pedagogical inquiry. Within the population of older adults, overall well-being corresponds with the ability to self-actualize and seek meaning, but age-related changes combined with ageism and isolation can negatively impact this capacity to maintain a sense of purpose, especially following retirement. Net Zero ideology promises that current and ongoing emissions can be partially offset by ‘negative emissions’ strategies such as carbon capture and sequestration, allowing carbon intensive firms to narrate themselves as agents that are solving – not causing – the climate crisis. This represents a shift in liberal and corporate environmentalism away from both denial and delay, towards a new strategy acknowledging the need to end fossil fuel use while urgently deferring transformations to a future made possible by not-yet developed technological innovations. A graduate student in art therapy wrote this heuristic paper to explore shame's role as both a negative internal feeling and a cultural and social tool for evaluating and regulating behavior. As a transgender woman, she examines what it is like to be labeled as Filipino and deal with being transgender. Tiny advances have been made in the understanding of shame within the context of minority transgender self-research.
