Bibliometric Survey On Predictive Analysis Using Multiple Regression For Invoice Generation System, Chetana Nadekar, Subodh Awate, Dattatray Damse, Smita Khairnar

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The research is exploring the opportunities available for the application of Predictive analysis using multi regression for invoice generation systems. We work by analyzing the data generated and saved in the database of the clinic. This database contains the financial operations along and also contains other useful information that is being gathered about the patients.

We are proposing a different approach for a billing system to make the task easier for the generation of invoices for the clinic. The mapping of the relational data and using a predictive model that is based on a regression analysis that will predict the …

What Happens Here? Educating Las Vegas’S Guests During Covid-19, Marta Soligo Feb 2021

What Happens Here? Educating Las Vegas’S Guests During Covid-19, Marta Soligo

UNLV Gaming Research & Review Journal

When, in 2003, the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority (LVCVA) launched the tag line “What happens here, stays here,” it reinforced the idea, already supported by the media, that in Sin City everything is allowed. Looking at the COVID-19 crisis, one might wonder how, after being seen for years as a place without restrictions, Las Vegas could convince its tourists to respect some rigid safety guidelines. This paper tries to answer that question starting from the framework of the host-guest relationship, which is widely used in anthropology and sociology of tourism. On the one hand, I state that short-time …

The Role Of Variable Rate Technology In Fertilizer Usage, Terry Wayne Griffin, Lavona Traywick Feb 2021

The Role Of Variable Rate Technology In Fertilizer Usage, Terry Wayne Griffin, Lavona Traywick

Journal of Applied Farm Economics

Precision technologies such as variable rate fertilizer applications have been touted as solving production agricultural issues, increasing yields, and improving environmental stewardship. Variable rate technologies have been widely available on farms especially via custom service providers; however, utilization rates of these technologies remain relatively low. Low adoption rates indicate barriers to adoption and an opportunity for market expansion. The degree to which such technologies may reduce the demand for fertilizers will depend on VRT adoption rates.

Differences In The Determinants Of Retirement Preparation Between Farm And Nonfarm Households, Sheri L. Worthy, Travis Mountain, Swarn Chatterjee, Carrie Johnson, Elizabeth Kiss, Barbara O'Neill, Lorna Saboe-Wounded Head, Michael S. Gutter Feb 2021

Differences In The Determinants Of Retirement Preparation Between Farm And Nonfarm Households, Sheri L. Worthy, Travis Mountain, Swarn Chatterjee, Carrie Johnson, Elizabeth Kiss, Barbara O'Neill, Lorna Saboe-Wounded Head, Michael S. Gutter

Journal of Applied Farm Economics

As principal farm operators age, retirement and succession planning has become increasingly important to the U.S. agriculture industry. This study examined differences in the determinants of retirement preparation between farm and nonfarm households using the Survey of Consumer Finances. Factors such as risk preferences, financial capability, human capital, and other demographic characteristics of farmers that may play a role in their decision to plan for retirement were examined. Retirement planning was investigated by running three separate sets of logistic regressions on the overall sample, farm households, and nonfarm households. Likelihood of consulting a financial planner, expecting to leave a bequest, …

Hemp Production Network Effects: Are Producers Tipped Toward Suboptimal Varietal Selection By Their Neighbors?, Tanner Mccarty, Jeffrey Young Feb 2021

Hemp Production Network Effects: Are Producers Tipped Toward Suboptimal Varietal Selection By Their Neighbors?, Tanner Mccarty, Jeffrey Young

Journal of Applied Farm Economics

The 2018 farm bill removed industrial hemp from the Schedule 1 Controlled Substance List. In response, states scrambled to enact hemp legislation. Some hemp flower producers report their hemp fields were cross- pollinated by a neighbor growing a different hemp cultivar. For hemp flower crops, cross- pollination reduces cannabinoid concentration levels within the flower; these concentration levels dictate flower price. We show that in a repeated game, once a sufficiently large percentage of growers decide to plant hemp fiber/seed crops, cross-pollination forces flower growers to convert to fiber/seed to avoid the negative network externality. Over time, a stable, suboptimal Nash …

Cost Efficiency Of International Corn And Soybean Production, Rachel Purdy, Michael Langemeier Feb 2021

Cost Efficiency Of International Corn And Soybean Production, Rachel Purdy, Michael Langemeier

Journal of Applied Farm Economics

The objective of this paper was to examine the cost efficiency of corn and soybean pro-duction for typical farms involved in the cash crop agri benchmark network using data for the period 2013 to 2017. Average cost efficiency for the typical farms in the network that produced corn, soybeans, and both corn and soybeans was 0.749, 0.774, and 0.939, respectively. Inefficiency was a greater problem for the farms producing corn than for the other farm types examined. Inefficient farms tended to overutilize direct, operating, and overhead inputs.

Bred Heifer Price Determinants In The Southeast, Christopher Boyer, Andrew P. Griffith, Jada M. Thompson, Justin Rhinehart, Kenneth H. Burdine, Kevin Laurent Feb 2021

Bred Heifer Price Determinants In The Southeast, Christopher Boyer, Andrew P. Griffith, Jada M. Thompson, Justin Rhinehart, Kenneth H. Burdine, Kevin Laurent

Journal of Applied Farm Economics

Price determinants for bulls, cows, and feeder cattle are well established in the literature but there has been little research on bred heifer price determinants and specifically the impact of feeder cattle prices on the purchase price of bred heifers. We estimated the impact of reproductive characteristics and feeder cattle prices on bred heifer prices for beef production. Data were obtained from a May and November bred heifer sale located in Kentucky and hedonic pricing models were estimated for bred heifers for each sale month. Prices for fall- calving heifers were influenced by number of months bred or expected calving …

Determinants Of Feedlot Cattle Death Loss Rates, Mark Buda, Kellie Curry Raper, John Michael Riley, Derrell S. Peel Feb 2021

Determinants Of Feedlot Cattle Death Loss Rates, Mark Buda, Kellie Curry Raper, John Michael Riley, Derrell S. Peel

Journal of Applied Farm Economics

Death loss in feedlot cattle can have significant impacts on feedlot profitability. Not only does death loss result in foregone revenue, but the operation still incurs the costs to date associated with those animals. This study uses pen-level feedlot data from a private feed-lot in the Southern Great Plains. Both company- owned and customer retained ownership cattle are included in the data set. A Tobit model is used to analyze pen characteristics’ influence on death loss in feedlot cattle, including cattle characteristics, source characteristics, management characteristics, and treatment incidence. Results imply that several pen characteristics impact death loss and that …

Gratitude, Stephanie Weddington, Megan Paul Feb 2021

Gratitude, Stephanie Weddington, Megan Paul

Umbrella Summaries

What is gratitude?

There are three ways of thinking about gratitude—as a state, a trait, or a tendency that can be improved through practice. A person can experience a brief state of gratitude in response to a specific event or another person’s kind actions (Emmons & McCullough, 2003). Gratitude is also considered a more enduring personality trait, disposition, or life orientation in which an individual has a general propensity to feel grateful for, notice, and appreciate the positives in day-to-day life (McCullough et al., 2002; Wood et al., 2010). Finally, individuals can enhance their tendency to feel grateful over time …

On An Imperative To Educate People On The History Of Race In America., Rachel Robinson-Greene Feb 2021

On An Imperative To Educate People On The History Of Race In America., Rachel Robinson-Greene

Languages, Philosophy, and Communication Studies Faculty Publications

2020 was a historic year for more than one reason. As a pandemic raged, in many areas unchecked in the United States, police brutality that caused the death of George Floyd brought to a boil racial strife that has been simmering in this country for many years. Black Lives Matter demonstrations across the globe motivated many to educate themselves, to improve their historical and cultural understanding of race in the United States. Others, most notably former President Trump, reacted quite differently. He exercised his power to implement a handful of policies on the topic of race, diversity, and inclusion. First, …

Nebraska Monthly Economic Indicators: February 24, 2021, Eric Thompson

Leading Economic Indicator Reports

The LEI-N rose by 0.72% during January 2021. The indicator has risen during each of the last four months, suggesting that the Nebraska economy will expand solidly through mid- 2021. In January, the leading indicator primarily rose due to strong business expectations. Respondents to the January Survey of Nebraska Business reported plans to increase sales and employment over the next six months. Overall, three of the six components of the leading indicator improved during January. Airline passenger counts rose modestly, while the value of the U.S. dollar fell. A weaker dollar is positive for Nebraska businesses which compete in international …

Publications and Research

Plesiadapiform mammals, as stem primates, are key to understanding the evolutionary and ecological origins of Pan-Primates and Euarchonta. The Purgatoriidae, as the geologically oldest and most primitive known plesiadapiforms and one of the oldest known placental groups, are also central to the evolutionary radiation of placentals and the Cretaceous-Palaeogene biotic recovery on land. Here, we report new dental fossils of Purgatorius from early Palaeocene (early Puercan) age deposits in northeastern Montana that represent the earliest dated occurrences of plesiadapiforms. We constrain the age of these earliest purgatoriids to magnetochron C29R and most likely to within 105–139 thousand years post- K/Pg …

The Biden Climate Plan, J. David Aiken Feb 2021

The Biden Climate Plan, J. David Aiken

Cornhusker Economics

President Obama had an aggressive climate plan that included regulation of carbon emissions from power plants. Hillary Clinton would have continued with aggressive policies to slow and reverse global warming but was defeated by Donald Trump in 2016. President Trump sought to undo most of President Obama’s climate policies and pursued a fossil-fuel friendly energy and climate policy. The 2020 election of President Biden marks a resumption of ambitious policies to slow and ultimately reverse global warming. This newsletter identifies three major policies the Biden administration is expected to pursue and attempts to explain what policy implication might look like.
