The main objective of this survey was to know young adults’ perceptions and use of public libraries in Sabzevar, Iran. Research population included students aged 12 to 15 who were public library members and were using public library services several times in a year. According to Cochran sampling size formula, the sample size was calculated 180 persons that were chosen by random cluster sampling technique. Required data was gathered by a researcher made questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS 20. This study examines the constructs of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. In this study, a canonical correlation analysis (CCA) was used to estimate relationships between identified dimensions of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. This study confirmed previous research showing that job satisfaction and organizational commitment constructs have positive and canonical relationship. The study samples are 405 of Library and Information Professionals selected randomly at the 2014 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Nigeria Library Association held in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. This study examined the corporate social responsibility intervention in the development of digital libraries in the universities of developing countries. It specifically investigated the challenges facing the MTN Foundation Digital Libraries in the universities in Nigeria and strategies that will engender their effective operation. Science map is a useful tool to understand the structure of a discipline, research networks and collaborations. Wildlife forensics is an emerging field of Forensic Sciences, where science is applied to legal cases involving wildlife. This study is aimed at creating science maps of Wildlife Forensics, both at global level and regional (i.e. India) level using PubMed database. A total of 303 records pertaining to global and 29 records pertaining to India published between 2001 and 2015 are obtained from the PubMed. This study aims to investigate the researcher’s awareness and use of ICT based library services provided by Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. For this study, 200 questionnaires have been administered among research scholars through e-mail. Investigators have received a total of 160 responses from respondents showing an overall response rate of 80% and same have been included for the study. Book borrowing is a key service in libraries. Library users frequently visit the library for borrowing books compared to other library services. To predict book-borrowing service in a college library, Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model has been developed from the data pertaining to book borrowing during the year 1998 to 2013. The study found that the number of books borrowed one month and twelve months earlier could estimate the number of books borrowed in a month. How police officers exercise their unique power to use deadly force continues to be a topic of interest among academics and, due to recent events, has moved to the forefront of public policy concerns. A number of scholars have proposed theories as to how police officers make the decision to use deadly force, but arguably the most comprehensive deadly force decision-making framework was put forth by Arnold Binder and Peter Scharf three and a half decades ago (1980; Scharf and Binder, 1983). Worldwide, mariners use a variety of English as an International Language known as Maritime English regardless of the first language spoken by the crew or port in which they enter. English knowledge and ability is therefore critical to a mariner's livelihood at sea and is also mandated by the International Maritime Organization. The ability to understand and be understood is paramount to safety at sea. This study investigated which accents of English a subset of Chinese mariners found easy or difficult to understand. Background: The Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial (SELECT) was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, prostate cancer prevention study funded by the National Cancer Institute and conducted by SWOG (Southwest Oncology Group). A total of 35,533 men were assigned randomly to one of four treatment groups (vitamin E + placebo, selenium + placebo, vitamin E + selenium, placebo + placebo). At the time of the trial’s development, NIH had invested substantial resources in evaluating the potential benefits of these antioxidants. Mark Rowlands holds that creatures endowed with pre-reflective awareness may qualify as persons: In pre-reflective awareness, the self and the unity of mental life are implicit in the stream of experience. Rowlands generalizes from an introspective analysis of pre-reflective consciousness in humans to pre-reflective awareness in general. I describe three examples of empirical findings that corroborate the assumption that animal minds have some of the same basic modes of pre-reflective awareness as human minds.

The University of Oregon (UO) Libraries have been microfilming and preserving Oregon’s newspapers as a public service since the 1950s. However, microfilm production has become increasingly unsustainable due to the rising costs associated with maintaining microfilming equipment and supplies, and researchers increasingly prefer digital access to newspapers as opposed to microfilm access. In order to mitigate costs and meet user needs, the UO Libraries has transitioned from microfilm to digital to provide preservation and access services for current Oregon newspapers. This article outlines one in-house model for archiving and providing access to HTML-based news in the Kentucky Digital Newspaper Program (KDNP) at the University of Kentucky (UK). To allow for search and retrieval of HTML-based news in the KDNP which already contains news content digitized from analog sources, the encapsulation of HTML content using XML encoded CDATA strings read by a prototype open-source PHP viewer is described.

The Texas Digital Newspaper Program, operated by the University of North Texas Libraries, actively works to digitally preserve news in the form of print and born digital newspaper content via The Portal to Texas History. For two years, TDNP has partnered with the Texas Press Association to preserve born-digital newspaper titles from its member institutions. These PDF-based print masters total more than 3 million pages from over 500 titles across the state and allow UNT Libraries to explore significant metrics associated with born-digital newspaper content at a scale that previously had been impossible.
