Erforschung biologischer Ressourcen der Mongolei / Exploration into the Biological Resources of Mongolia, ISSN 0440-1298

In the present study, we investigated morphological variation of Mesobuthus eupeus mongolicus (Birula, 1911) in Mongolia. Samples were collected in 16 sites located in the provinces Bayankhongor, Khovd, Dundgovi, Dornogovi, Govisümber and Ömnögovi. Statistical analyses (Kruska-Wallis one-way ANOVA, PCA and hierarchical cluster analysis) showed that (a) morphologically the M. e. mongolicus males sampled in Dundgovi, Dornogovi, Govisümber and Ömnögovi were similar to each other, while the populations of Bayankhongor and Khovd were differentiated, and (b) the females from Bayankhongor, Dundgovi, Dornogovi, Govisümber and Ömnögovi had a similar morphology, while the population from Khovd was differentiated.

Erforschung biologischer Ressourcen der Mongolei / Exploration into the Biological Resources of Mongolia, ISSN 0440-1298

A revised annotated checklist of Mongolian mammals is presented, supplemented with comments on modifications in species- and genus-level taxonomy introduced over the last 30 years. The checklist includes 140 species compared to 124 species recognized three decades ago by SOKOLOV & ORLOV (1980). Since then, four species were newly described; seven species were registered for the first time on Mongolian territory. Names for more than 20 taxa have changed, on most occasions this change occurred not for purely nomenclatural reasons but rather as a result of taxonomic revisions at the species level which have elevated the rank of many nominal …

Erforschung biologischer Ressourcen der Mongolei / Exploration into the Biological Resources of Mongolia, ISSN 0440-1298

Nonstandard Parental Employment Schedules And Father Involvement, Matthew Weinshenker Jan 2016

Nonstandard Parental Employment Schedules And Father Involvement, Matthew Weinshenker

Sociology Faculty Publications

This study assesses the impact of nonstandard employment schedules (shift work) on parenting among U.S. fathers of young children in dual-earner couples. The outcomes examined include total caregiving, caregiving without the mother present, and the elements of father involvement proposed by Pleck: positive engagement, warmth, and control. Models with latent variables and with lagged dependent variables are estimated using three waves of nationally-representative data from the Early Child Longitudinal Study – Birth Cohort (ECLS-B). The results indicate that employment scheduling mainly shapes the context in which involvement takes place. Compared to dual-earner couples who are each employed during the day, …

Nebraskans Speak About Early Care And Education: Buffett Early Childhood Institute/Gallup Survey On Early Childhood Care And Education In Nebraska, Gallup, Inc.

Buffet Early Childhood Institute Reports and Publications

The Buffett Early Childhood Institute/Gallup Survey on Early Childhood Care and Education in Nebraska demonstrates that the vast majority of Nebraskans recognize the importance of high-quality early care and education. However, Nebraskans also report its lack of availability and affordability across the state. Most Nebraskans agree that the state should make early care and education a higher priority than it currently is today. Results from this study are based on questionnaires completed by more than 7,100 Nebraska residents. Gallup conducted the survey in English and Spanish via mail in late August through September 2015. The following represent key findings from …

Feeding Peace: An Investigation Of The Relationship Between Food Insecurity And Violence, Emily Blankenberger

Student Research – Stevenson Center

Violence has increased drastically over the last few years. Research has shown that a more violent population leads to an area with unpredictability which is linked with lower GDPs and higher amounts of instability. This paper attempts to address the effect of food insecurity on violence within a population. Using data from World Bank and the Global Peace Index it is believed that there is a positive correlation/causation of food insecurity on violence throughout the world. The paper will look at the aggregate effects caused by food insecurity on violence by looking at over 160 countries during a six year …

A Feuding House: An Examination Of The Causes And Effects Of The Decline Of Bipartisanship In The United States Congress, Aaron Jackson Horner Jan 2016

A Feuding House: An Examination Of The Causes And Effects Of The Decline Of Bipartisanship In The United States Congress, Aaron Jackson Horner

Undergraduate Honors Theses

Excerpt from Introduction

In October of 2016, a Gallup poll reported that Congress had an approval rating of 18%.[1] Compared to the President’s approval rating, Congress is seen as ineffective and too bipartisan for many Americans. While there has always been a natural tension between the opposing parties, it has magnified within recent years. Within Congress itself, many members are seeing their political opposition even more unfavorably today than their counterparts did two decades ago. Carol Doherty of the Pew Research Center claims that it is the “intensity of negativity that’s increased.”[2] The 2008 election marked a new …

Hard International Law-Contributing Organizations As Networks, Charles Boehmer, Renato Corbetta Jan 2016

Hard International Law-Contributing Organizations As Networks, Charles Boehmer, Renato Corbetta

Departmental Papers (PS)

This paper explores the networks that intergovernmental organizations(IGOs) create in the international system and explore how states relate to eachother in such networks. It focuses in particular on the network of IGOs that actas creators of and agents for hard international law. We introduce new data thatallows us to investigate which institutional traits and functions are most closelyrelated to IGOs’ contribution to the implementation and enforcement of informalinternational law. We map out and explore the network of “highly legalized”IGOs for the years 1980–2005 as well as the affiliation networks emerging fromstates’ membership in such IGOs. Combining international relations theory withnetwork …
