PURPOSE: To optimize the design of radiofrequency (RF) shielding of transmit coils at 7T and reduce eddy currents generated on the RF shielding when imaging with rapid gradient waveforms.

METHODS: One set of a four-element, 2 × 2 Tic-Tac-Toe head coil structure was selected and constructed to study eddy currents on the RF coil shielding. The generated eddy currents were quantitatively studied in the time and frequency domains. The RF characteristics were studied using the finite difference time domain method. Five different kinds of RF shielding were tested on a 7T MRI scanner with phantoms and in vivo human subjects. …

The field of behavioral finance has attempted to explain a litany of biases, heuristics, and

inefficiencies present in financial markets since its creation in the 1980’s. This paper is structured as a comprehensive literature review of behavioral finance, and includes both the seminal works as well as more recent papers. The various subtopics of behavioral finance will also be analyzed, which include loss aversion, corporate finance, and momentum/contrarian investing. Finally, this paper will draw unique conclusions across behavioral finance and hypothesize about what topics within behavioral finance are likely to yield the most interesting research in the near future.

One of the greatest leaders of our time – Nelson Mandela – died December 5, 2013 bringing an end to a remarkable life from prison to presidency. While scholars have studied Mandela’s speeches (Williams, 2008; Zagacki, 2003; and Sheckels, 2001), few have sought to understand his complexities through a rhetorical analysis of his speech and its resonation for a particular audience – Black South Africans. Despite extensive research on sexual assault, study of the processes and behaviors central to responding to sexual assault threats is limited. The purpose of this paper is to provide a critical, narrative review of the literature on behavioral response to threat (BRTT) highlighting BRTT as mechanism of self-defense interventions and process of sexual victimization. Empirical findings regarding measurement, styles, effectiveness of different styles of BRTT, and facilitators and barriers of BRTT, are reviewed. Seismic surveys are widely used in marine geophysical oil and gas exploration, employing airguns to produce sound-waves capable of penetrating the sea floor. In recent years, concerns have been raised over the biological impacts of this activity, particularly for marine mammals. While exploration occurs in the waters of at least fifty countries where marine turtles are present, the degree of threat posed by seismic surveys is almost entirely unknown. To investigate this issue, a mixed-methods approach involving a systematic review, policy comparison and stakeholder analysis was employed and recommendations for future research were identified. Multiple versions of the liturgy for the new fest of Corpus Christi provide evidence for changes in the theology of the Eucharist during the thirteenth century. These changes give pause in crediting the Miracle of Bolsena as the source of inspiration for the 1264 version of the liturgy by St. Thomas Aquinas. An earlier version of the "original office" with approbation from Liege Bishop Robert Thourotte in 1246 and a celebration of the feast by Hugh of St. Cher in 1252 weigh against the Bolsena Miracle as the source. The poinsettia has undergone a remarkable transformation since the day some 800 years ago when the Aztecs plucked it from the wilds of Mexico to decorate their courtyards and medicate the infirm.

From November 9 to 28, wild, heirloom, and modern poinsettias in full flower will grace the lobby of Clemson University’s Cooper Library for everyone to appreciate. Banners and historical documents will accompany the display to help guide visitors along the implausible route the humble poinsettia traveled from gangly Mexican shrub to iconic Christmas flower.

This article analyses the relationships among the unit of account and means of exchange functions of an international currency, on the one hand, and its store of value in official use, on the other hand. Historical evidence links the currency composition of reserves to currency movements. The currency composition of reserves is strongly related in the cross-section to both currency movements and the currency denomination of trade. Data limitations make it hard to distinguish these two factors. A panel analysis of 5 countries from central and eastern Europe shows that both trade invoicing and currency movements drive changing official reserve …

In the battle to combat obesity rates in the United States, several misconceptions have dominated policy initiatives. We address those misconceptions, including the notion that restrictive diets lead to long-term weight loss, that stigmatizing obesity is an effective strategy for promoting weight reduction, and that weight and physical health should be considered synonymous with one another. In offering correctives to each of these points, we draw on psychological science to suggest new policies that could be enacted at both the local and national levels. Instead of policies that rely solely on individual willpower, which is susceptible to failure, we recommend …

The goal of this study is to identify and understand an effective government–public relationship building based on a synthetic approach to public segmentation. Using a national survey dataset, this study examines how different types of publics have trust differently in federal, state, and local government. By exploring how situational and cross-situational variables predict trust in government, the study finds that there are different predictors for trust in each level of government. Further, the results provide important insight into how public relations practitioners and researchers can build and maintain an effective government–public relationship with the key publics. Geography: A Career Without Borders

What do mosquito abatement, education policy, retail site location and public transportation have in common? Although it might not seem obvious, these disparate pursuits all involve the work of geographers. This article looks at the wide variety of occupations open to geographers, who manipulate and map big data, use geographic information systems for municipal functions and pest removal, analyze transportation and job siting, pursue human and environmental sustainability practices, and teach. The article also includes a brief summary of the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Association of American Geographers.

“To Support The Southern Medical Public”: The Medical College Of Georgia As A Southern Information Agency, 1828–1861, Brenton Stewart

A traditional perspective situates nineteenth-century southern academic library culture as a late nineteenth-century phenomenon. This article challenges that assertion and traditional beliefs about the South's indifference to cultural advancement by examining the print culture of one of the South's leading educational institutions, the Medical College of Georgia. An antebellum in­formation agency, the Medical College of Georgia leveraged its medical li­brary, museum, and journal to transform medical information production, dissemination, and consumption in the South and represents an important symbol of southern modernity. This article presents a distinct analysis of early nineteenth-century southern medicoscientific information culture.

Describes the steps taken to extract Author/Corporate names from our local catalog (III-Sierra), the initial data cleanup work done in Microsoft Excel, and the final data cleanup work and Name reconciliation against the Virtual International Authority File (VIAF) and Library of Congress Name Authority file (LCNAF) using OpenRefine. Familiarity with extracting data from the local catalog and basic knowledge of how to use Excel is assumed. How to use OpenRefine for data cleanup and reconciliation is covered in depth (and with many screenshots).
