Research has shown that post-partum depression often begins during pregnancy. This study seeks to examine the extent to which prenatal care providers (PNCP's) are sufficiently attending to the emotional concerns of their patients. This study consisted of 117 women. Participants were asked a series of rating questions to determine their overall satisfaction with their PNCP's ability to attend to their emotional concerns. In addition to the rating questions, respondents were asked two open ended questions to better illustrate their experience with their PNCP, as well as to discuss which resources they felt would be helpful to women during pregnancy. Although not the epidemic the media leads us to believe, incidents of school violence continue to be alarming in any school environment. The purpose of this study was to explore parents of school-aged children's perceptions' towards causes of, solutions for school violence, changes in parental behavior as a result of concerns of violence and opinions of firearms. This study was a partial replication of a study by Bliss et al., conducted in 1999 and published in 2006. This study explored Smith School for Social Work students' overall attitudes towards the role of religion and spirituality in social work practice. The study examined the extent to which content of religion and spirituality have been included in students' education as well as how satisfied and prepared students feel in addressing these issues in practice. Lastly, this study explored students' attitudes, behaviors, and experiences concerning alternative conceptions of religious and spiritual factors in their understanding of mental illness. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore how people who hear voices have learned to cope with their voices, and how they attribute the function or role of the voice(s) in their lives. This thesis asked whether traumatic, lived experiences are related to the content of voices. This study used a narrative-inquiry approach to speak with nine adults about their experiences hearing voices. The interview questionnaire was adapted from the Maastricht Interview and Construct (Escher and Romme, 2000). Participants were interviewed in person or over the phone. This was an exploratory study using a mixed methods design. The purpose of the study was to examine suicide prevention programs from the perspective of clinical practitioners who work or have worked with veterans in therapeutic settings. The data was collected anonymously through Survey Monkey. The study focused on practitioner observations and insights regarding increased risk factors and effective ways to meet the needs of veterans who are at risk for suicide. Language fundamentally shapes an individual's identity and worldview. It is a principal component in the development of self, identity, and how relate with others. The purpose of this study was to explore families in which there are more than one Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Queer identified sibling, specifically looking at the coming out process as influenced by another LGBQ sibling. Twelve semi-structured, exploratory interviews were conducted with six sibling sets, aimed at exploring the perceived impact of having a LGBQ sibling with regards to revealing one's sexual identity. The goal of this study was to replicate prior research that has examined differences between self-compassion, depression, anxiety and stress in adults with Alcohol Use Disorders (AUDs). This is the first study that has compared levels of self-compassion by whether or not participants are in sober recovery. A clinical sample of 69 adults, who were currently in sober recovery or in treatment for an AUD, were administered a quantitative survey to assess various characteristics, which included: current depression, anxiety and stress levels; current alcohol use and related problems; and how they treat themselves during difficult times. This qualitative study explores the ways that therapists describe and address the idealizing transference in therapeutic encounters. It also explores how clients utilize the idealizing transference and how clinicians view their participation in the idealizing transference. The study was based on interviews conducted with 12 licensed therapists, all of whom have been practicing for a minimum of two years. Other topics explored were: Are certain clients more susceptible to idealization? Is there always a "fall from grace"? Do therapists experience idealizing countertransference? The purpose of this study was to explore if object relations theory and institutional transference can help explain why some people with schizophrenia overuse the emergency department (ED). Since deinstitutionalization, and the implementation of managed care, high utilization of the ED by people with mental illnesses has become an important, and controversial topic within medical and mental health settings. High utilization negatively impacts both ED staff members, and people with schizophrenia. This study sought to identify trends in American expectations regarding commitment, marriage, monogamy, cohabitation, child rearing, and domestic responsibilities in committed relationships and explored the ways expectations differed based on gender, generation, income, and US region. A committed relationship was defined as an interpersonal romantic relationship based upon a mutually agreed-upon commitment to one another regarding certain behavior and lifestyle choices. The different generations that were compared fall into the following year brackets: Boomers (1943-1960), Generation X (1961-1981), and Millennials (1982-2004). To most people, the ability to carry and bear children is one that is inextricably linked with femininity and womanhood. However, some individuals who gestate and give birth to a child do not identify as women or as feminine. This is an empirical, psychoanalytic inquiry designed to uncover what exists in the space for "father" when men grow up father absent. I interviewed 10 father absent men to find out how they conceptualized their personal representations of father and whether the conjured images played a material role in their lives. In light of the interviews, I contend that, regardless of circumstance, intrapsychic space exists for father. Building on Green (2004), I argue that father absent men have a combination of positive and negative space for father. Sexual violence is an endemic problem in the United States. Despite the ubiquity of rape and our legally affirmed agreement that it is a crime, research and observation indicates that people who would not perpetrate sex crimes nonetheless frequently endorse sexual violence through both passive and proactive behaviors. Evidence of such cultural norms can be found in public discourse when we observe how people talk about sexual violence, a concept that has been operationalized in the field of psychology as the rhetoric of rape myths. The spiritual and religious life of clients is an important clinical factor in therapy; it holds significant meaning and may support therapeutic outcome. This study explored client perceptions of the quality of care they received in therapy when disclosing their spiritual/religious life to their therapists as well as the factors that might contribute to their perceptions of care and disclosure. A total of 75 respondents participated in an online survey tool composed of quantitative and qualitative questions. This study aims to test whether the behavior of Indonesian people in determining education is the manifestation of human capital theory or signaling theory. Using the ordinary least square (OLS) model and the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) 2007 data, we find that both theories mutually have effect to influence the behavior of Indonesian people to determine their education.

Analisis Spasial Kriminalitas Harta Benda Di Wilayah Jadetabek, Aditya Harin Nugroho, Sonny Harry B. Harmadi

This study aims to identify the existence of spatial dependence of property crime at sub-district level in the case of Jakarta, Tangerang, Depok, and Bekasi (Jadetabek), the major metropolitan area in Indonesia over 2010 period. Empirical results by using spatial autoregressive suggest the existence of positive spatial autocorrelation of property crime in Jadetabek. We also find the determinants of property crime is related to per capita household expenditure, number of youth unemployment, number of young population, number of drags abuse case, and percentage of case solved.

This article provides an overview of the design, implementation, revision and informal assessment of an information literacy curriculum embedded in a new University Foundations (UF) program at a mid‐sized public university. The library information literacy sessions incorporated teambased learning and Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) elements using iPads. Each session provided students an opportunity to develop and apply information literacy skills, and included critical thinking questions which led students to think about underlying concepts. A focus group with the librarians assessed the UF library curriculum, its impact on student engagement, and the training activities for librarian teaching preparation.

Open peer review, peer review where authors' and reviewers' identities are disclosed to one another, is a growing trend in scholarly publishing. Through observation of four journals in STEM disciplines, PLOS One, Atmospheric Chemistry & Physics, PeerJ, and F1000Research, an observational overview is conducted. The overview relies on defined characteristics of open peer review. Results show that despite differing open peer review implementations, each journal retains editorial involvement in scholarly publishing. Further, the analysis shows that only one of these implementations is fully transparent in its peer review and decision making process. Finally, the overview contends …

Although social inequality is critical to the study of sociology, it is particularly challenging to teach about race, class and gender inequality to students who belong to privileged social groups. Simulation games are often used successfully to address this pedagogical challenge. While debriefing is a critical component of simulation exercises that focus on teaching about social inequality, empirical assessments of the significance and effectiveness of this tool is virtually nonexistent in sociology and other social sciences. To date, the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has established approximately 3,900 Union Health and Family Welfare Centers (UHFWCs) in rural areas providing: family planning; menstrual regulation; vaccinations; and general, reproductive, and maternal health services six days a week. About 1,500 UHFWCs have been upgraded with the necessary staff and equipment to provide normal delivery services round-the-clock in rural areas. In rural areas, public-sector health facilities, including UHFWCs, contribute to only 12 percent of institutional deliveries. Until now, Family Welfare Visitors (FWVs) posted at UHFWCs performed only 0.3 percent of deliveries. …
