This study provided a statistical analysis of reunifications rates and treatments offered for sexually abused children and their parents. This study consisted of computer case files in Riverside Child Protective Services of foster children who had been sexually abused and will help in further research studies conducted in Riverside County and in various surrounding counties to understand the impact of child sexual abuse. Data was collected from fifty case files using computer databases and a data extraction tool.

The study investigated Children and Family Services (CFS) workers' awareness of the importance of father-daughter attachments and the associated risks of teenage pregnancy as well as the use of such knowledge in their intake assessment process. A quantitative, cross-sectional, survey design was utilized to study 113 child welfare workers who were employed with San Bernardino County Children and Family Services in California.

The intent of this research is to determine the relationship, if any, between social worker characteristics such as age, gender, parental status, years of experience as a social worker, education level and the perception of safety and risk factors in child abuse investigations. The research study will focus on the public sector of child welfare, specifically the initial investigation period (Investigative Services program) within Riverside County Department of Public Social Services in Riverside, California. A quantitative questionnaire was provided to social workers currently assigned within Investigative Services (IS) programs.

The purpose of this study is to gain understanding into the effects that juvenile offender treatment facilities have on the nurturance of protective factors leading to resilience in juvenile offenders. This research study looks into juvenile offenders self-perceptions of factors associated with resilience during an intervention program. It breaks resilience into two categories, traits shown to be associated with resilience, known as internal traits, and protective factors shown to lead to resilience, known as external traits. This study tried to see if there is a correlation with the level of care an elderly person receives in a tri-level assisted living home and the quality of life they perceive and the level of depression they experience. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used. 18 participants were individually interviewed and were verbally administered the tests and questionnaire from a local tri-level assisted living facility in San Bernardino County which has 103 residents.

This thesis focuses on the participatory nature of electronic literature and how remediation of texts have created new forms of literature that do not seem like texts at all, but more like virtual reality. By delving into a specific example of electronic literature, cell phone novel Secondhand Memories, the author will demonstrate that the hyperreal quality of the cell phone novel is more appealing to modern readers. Throughout his examination of cell phone novels and digital literature, the author will look at how technology has affected the way reading is done and has facilitated the emergence of keitai shosetsu.

This project analyzes data from 35 undercover teams implemented by a guidance counselor at Edgewater College, a high school in a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. The author explores the nature of bullying according to the students reporting it. The purpose of this project is to introduce and analyze the outcomes of undercover anti-bullying teams. The data to be presented in this research paper is on the use of these teams at Edgewater College, in Auckland, New Zealand, formed by Michael Williams the head guidance counselor. The data was collected ex post facto through two surveys. Each posed eight questions, stimulating participants to recall and expound on their personal experience. The surveys were completed by thirty-two undercover anti-bullying teams, during their final meetings.

This thesis centers on establishing the relationship between a parent's employment status and the impact the loss of funding from CalWORKs Stage 3 childcare funding might have on child abuse. CalWORKs Stage 3 funding was installed in 1997 as a safety net for families to receive subsidized childcare for working parents if the household is below 75% of the state median income and the children are under the age of 13 and eliminated in November 2010. The purpose of this study was to address social workers concerns associated with the loss of this funding.

The purpose of this study is to determine the causes for financial distress which lead to bankruptcy and identify which of the five models used in this paper is more accurate in forecasting bankruptcy. It analyzes the changes in market, policy, economy, and political influence which leads to bankruptcy. The California citrus industry was the engine for the economic and cultural development of twentieth century Southern California. This thesis aims to contribute to the literature by focusing where possible, on the experiences of the small landholding "ranchers," who collectively held the power of the large landholders, and on the experiences of Mexican workers, who despite marginalization, pooled their economic and social resources, and persisted in place.

The purpose of this research is to conduct a secondary analysis of data from an Elderly Inpatient Mobility Program pilot tested in a 545 bed hospital. Mobility and ambulation are essential functions that help people maintain their health. This thesis examines real language in use to observe the different intonation contours associated with the discourse marker "whatever" to see if or how these contours contribute to the pragmatic meaning associated with the different functions. Interactional sociolinguistic and conversational analysis approach to investigate the different pragmatic meaning associated with the discourse marker "whatever" were employed to carry out the analysis. The purpose of this project is to bring parental awareness to the subject matter, expand their knowledge base, and increase the parenting skill set related to childhood sexual development. The goal of this project is to shed light on childhood sexual development in service of best practice parenting, ultimately leading to optimal child outcomes. Middle Eastern dance (aka belly dance) is an ancient and expressive form of movement, associated with feminine and community-based celebration and ritual. However, it is also thought of as erotic, seductive, and titillating. Despite stereotypes, belly dance appeals to contemporary women as leisure. This paper examines the intrigue with belly dance in the United States, specifically why women practice this dance form and what their involvement suggests about the gendered nature of leisure, and the need thereof, in women's lives.
