การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการใช้หอสมุดกลางของอาจารย์และนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏสุราษฎร์ธานี ในด้านวัตถุประสงค์ ความถี่ในการใช้ ทรัพยากรสารนิเทศ บริการ วิธีการสืบค้น และปัญหาในการใช้หอสมุดกลางของอาจารย์ และนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏสุราษฎร์ธานี ผลการวิจัยพบว่า อาจารย์ส่วนใหญ่มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการใช้ห้องสมุดเพื่อประกอบการสอน เข้าใช้ห้องสมุดไม่แน่นอน นักศึกษาส่วนใหญ่ใช้ห้องสมุดเพื่อประกอบการเรียน เข้าใช้สัปดาห์ละ 2-3 ครั้ง อาจารย์และนักศึกษาส่วนใหญ่ใช้หนังสือ ใช้เนื้อหาบริหารธุรกิจ และใช้ทรัพยากรสารนิเทศภาษาไทย บริการที่อาจารย์และนักศึกษาส่วนใหญ่ใช้ คือ บริการยืม-คืน ใช้วิธีการสืบค้นจากรายการออนไลน์ของห้องสมุด (OPAC) ปัญหาที่อาจารย์และนักศึกษาประสบในระดับมากด้านทรัพยากร สารนิเทศ คือ ทรัพยากรสารนิเทศมีเนื้อหาไม่ทันสมัย และทรัพยากรสารนิเทศไม่ครอบคลุมทุกสาขาที่มีการเรียนการสอน ด้านบริการ คือ เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ให้บริการอินเทอร์เน็ตมีจำนวนน้อย บริการข่าวสารทางเว็บไซต์ของห้องสมุดไม่มีข้อมูลใหม่ ๆ เพิ่มเติม และเครื่องถ่ายเอกสารมีน้อยทำให้ต้องรอนาน ด้านการสืบค้น คือ การสืบค้นฐานข้อมูลออนไลน์ใช้เวลา นานเนื่องจากเครื่องข่ายอินเทอร์เน็ตช้า และด้านอื่น ๆ คือ ที่นั่งอ่านหนังสือมีจำนวนไม่เพียงพอ จากสมมติฐานที่กำหนดไว้ 2 ข้อ คือ 1) อาจารย์และนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏสุราษฎร์ธานีส่วนใหญ่ใช้หนังสือและวารสาร ใช้บริการยืม-คืน และใช้วิธีการสืบค้นจากรายการออนไลน์ของห้องสมุด 2) ปัญหาในการใช้หอสมุดกลางที่อาจารย์ประสบในระดับมาก คือ ทรัพยากรสารนิเทศมีเนื้อหาไม่ทันสมัย ส่วนปัญหาที่นักศึกษาประสบในระดับมาก คือ เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ให้บริการอินเทอร์เน็ตมีประสิทธิภาพต่ำ สามารถสรุปได้ว่ามีทั้งสอดคล้องและไม่สอดคล้องกับสมมติฐาน This research aims at studying the use of the central library by faculty members and students of Surat Thani Rajabhat University, involving their objectives, frequency, information resources, library services, information resources, information searching methods, and problems faced in using the central …

It further describes the roleof public relations in the organization as well as preliminary steps in public relations work. Incremental And Average Control Costs In A Model Of Water Quality Trading With Discrete Abatement Units, Arthur J. Caplan

This paper answers three questions related to the discrete nature of pollution abatement: (i) does a source's incremental control cost (as defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) necessarily exceed its average control cost, (ii) is incremental control cost a better approximation of a source's willingness to pay for abatement credits than average control cost, and (iii) exactly how does trading in discrete and continuous abatement markets differ? We find that the answer to the first two questions are both "no", suggesting that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency needs to refine its reliance on incremental control cost as the sole …

This paper investigates the assumption that proficient governance is essential in securing a stable economy. It studies and analyzes many relevant variables that one would find controlled by the government in its economy. My results show that these established nations all have differences in terms of debt and balance of trades but all seem to agree on the importance of maintaining a morally stable and efficient government structure that allows them to compete in the world economy.

This paper investigates life expectancy and infant mortality rates in randomly selected countries from around the world. This study takes into consideration many economic and social factors that could potentially have an effect on life expectancy and infant mortality in different countries. Factors are modeled using a least-squared regression model and are determined as significant based on their probability factor. Results show both positive and negative effects depending on the economic and social factor.

The Interaction Between The Stock Market, Monetary Policy And Inflation In Singapore And Malaysia, Lindsey Kahler

This paper investigates and compares the interactions among the stock market, monetary policy, and inflation in both Singapore and Malaysia from 2005 through 2007 using bivariate and multivariate vector autoregressive cointegrating specifications. The Granger-causality test shows that for Malaysia there significant unidirectional relationships of inter-bank loan rates to inflation, and inflation to Kuala Lumpur stock returns. For Singapore there is only one significant marginal unidirectional Granger-causality relationship of inflation to Straits Times stock returns. There are no reciprocal relationships in either country. Based on changes in the stock market, the multivariate results show negative changes on the interbank interest rates …

This paper investigates the real impact of sector performance on the overall stock market and the possibility that the primary culprit of negative or positive performance isn’t necessarily the one that significantly drives overall market performance. The study compares average gain or loss by sector with regression analysis to determine if the largest gainer or loser is also reflected in regression analysis after beta calculation. The results show that there is very limited correlation between the two measures suggesting that major volatility in one sector doesn’t necessarily have the greatest impact on total market movement.

United States Homeownership Rates: The Effect Of Macroeconomic Factors On The Domestic Real Estate Market, Alexander Grande

This paper examines the correlation between U.S. economic indicators and the domestic real estate market. The analysis of the study’s findings and results show that some indicators adversely affect homeownership rates in conjunction to the overall state of the market during the time frame depicted. The regression is from a model used on an international level and it is taken and applied here to the domestic market of one country; the United States. The results from the research and tests performed highlight the economic indicators that are closely correlated to the rate of homeownership.

Although the study results report discrepancies in the rates of substance abuse in the lesbian community, the general consensus in the field of gay and lesbian studies is that these individuals, as a whole, have a higher rate of substance use. For this study, data were collected via the Internet on the use of drugs and alcohol, level of self-esteem, and degree of social identity in the lesbian community. A correlation analysis was used to determine if negative social identity within the lesbian community leads to low self-esteem that is reflected in higher rates of substance abuse. Despite the importance of civil orders of protection as a legal resource for victims of intimate partner violence, research is limited in this area, and most studies focus on the process following a court’s initial issuance of an emergency order. The purpose of this study is to address a major gap in the literature by examining cases where victims of intimate partner violence are denied access to temporary orders of protection. The study sample included a review of 2,205 petitions that had been denied by a Kentucky court during the 2003 fiscal year. The study offers important insights into the …

Local Knowledge: Worcester Area Community-Based Research

This paper considers how and why an Asian enclave of small businesses has appeared in a poor neighborhood characterized by Puerto Rican and other Latino immigration in the post-industrial city of Worcester, Massachusetts. We begin by examining the role of the US in the world system, and argue that the US hegemonic role and specific political economic aspects of global capitalism (ie. deindustrialization) account for some of the migration stream. Next, using socioeconomic and historical data, interviews, and observations, we outline the history of Worcester’s economy and immigration patterns. Twenty-five million Americans play golf on the nation's 16,000 courses each year. These golf courses constitute a significant national landscape feature. Since 18789, when the game arrived in the United States, golf has filtered down the urban, economic, and social hierarchies to become accepted by and accessible to most Americans. A series of experiments was carried out to examine the effect of curvature on haptic judgments of extent in sighted and blind individuals. Experiment 1 showed that diameters con- necting the endpoints of semicircular lines were underestimated with respect to straight lines, but failed to show an effect of visual experience on length judgments. In experiment 2 we tested arc lengths. The effects of curvature on perceived path length were weaker, but were still present in this experiment.Visual experience had no effect on path length judgments. For decades, the U.S. meat industry has fed medically important antibiotics to chickens, pigs, and cattle to accelerate their weight gain and prevent disease in the stressful and unhygienic conditions that typify industrialized animal agriculture production facilities. A strong scientific consensus exists, asserting that this practice fosters antibiotic resistance in bacteria to the detriment of human health. In response to this public health threat, the European Union has banned the non-therapeutic feeding of a number of antibiotics of human importance to farm animals.
