Talk, a 1924 novel about small town gossips and busybodies, won accolades for Bowling Green native Emanie Nahm Sachs. Four years later her biography of Victoria Woodhall (a feminist who ran for president in 1872) also received high praises.

The Anchor: 2008
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Operationalizing Offensive Social Engineering For The Air Force, Bryan E. Skarda
Theses and Dissertations
Social engineering is the art and science of persuading individuals to bypass in place security mechanisms causing the unintended release of information. It is a low tech solution to a high tech problem and is as much an art as a science. As is true of many such solutions, social engineering is both ill-defined yet extremely effective. Its low cost, high payoff nature makes it an extremely attractive alternative to adversaries that do not have access to all the resources of a nation state. However, with full backing, the weapon can become that much more effective. Social engineering is something …

The primary cause of this accident is listed as a Field Control Inadequacy because the demining group left the area without appropriately marking those areas worked and those that were still hazardous. The secondary cause is listed as a Management Control Inadequacy because it is the demining group’s senior management’s responsibility to ensure that the field managers left the task area responsibly.

The Outlook For Switchgrass As An Energy Crop, Richard K. Perrin, Brian Williams
Cornhusker Economics
Corn ethanol production has already had a big impact on Nebraska agriculture. What about switch-grass for ethanol? Will it become an important crop in the Great Plains, and if so, when? How much will it be worth?
These are important questions for Nebraska agriculture, and the future is murky. In this issue we summarize some of what is known at this point.
