The Impact Of Adolescent Social Anxiety On Adulthood Adjustment Among Sexually Abused Girls, Madeline Anne Rakow Ivanchenko
The Impact Of Adolescent Social Anxiety On Adulthood Adjustment Among Sexually Abused Girls, Madeline Anne Rakow Ivanchenko
Master's Theses and Doctoral Dissertations
Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is a significant social problem that has gained increased recognition since the 1980s. The increased attention has led to a substantial body of research that documents both the high prevalence and pervasive effects of CSA. CSA is associated with a wide range of adulthood psychopathology, including major depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, substance use, suicidal behavior, alterations in self-concept, and disruptions in interpersonal relatedness (Beichtman, Zucker, Hood, DaCosta & Cassavia, 1992; Browne & Finkelhor, 1986; Cole & Putnam, 1992; Polusny & Follette, 1995; Russell, 1986; Wilson, 2006). Sexually abused children are also at a higher …

Creating A Free To Read International Digital Library - Five Years Later, Erika Linke
Creating A Free To Read International Digital Library - Five Years Later, Erika Linke
Proceedings of the IATUL Conferences
The Million Book Project was begun in 2003 with the vision of creating a free-to-read, universally accessible, million-book digital resource by 2007 to provide a test bed for developing digital library tools and software. By spring 2007 1.4 million titles were digitized.
The project stemmed from a collaboration of the university library and the school of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. From the project’s inception partners included libraries, institutions of higher education and research organizations in China, India and the U.S., essentially computer scientists and librarians. Additional partners have been added selectively as the project became more visible in …
Layers Of A National Digital Information Strategy In Germany, Maria Mann-Kallenborn
Layers Of A National Digital Information Strategy In Germany, Maria Mann-Kallenborn
Proceedings of the IATUL Conferences
Due to the lack of a sustainable tradition of private patronage for tertiary education, German libraries have developed a complex layered network of communication and support to cope with a permanent lack of resources. The tiers of this structure of cooperation and funding reflect the organization of Germany as a coalition of federal states. National, regional and local ventures to improve education infrastructure massively rely on funding by the National Research Foundation DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) which on its part presets frameworks for project proposals by issuing specific support programmes for universities and libraries. The paper presented describes current structures and …
A National Digital Data Policy For The United States: To Be Or Not To Be?, James L. Mullins
A National Digital Data Policy For The United States: To Be Or Not To Be?, James L. Mullins
Proceedings of the IATUL Conferences
As countries worldwide are coming to terms with establishing a national data policy, the United States is approaching the issue in a piecemeal manner. With numerous federal, state and private agencies in control of funding, it is unlikely that a national policy will emerge for the United States in the near future. Regardless, efforts are moving forward on digital initiatives, including open access to scholarly publications, access to digital data-sets, creation of standards for data-set management, and national repositories for scanned images. Consortiums of research libraries such as the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), Association of Research Libraries (ARL), Coalition …
