Religion And The Everyday Ritual Of Home Life: A Comparison Of Higher And Lower Family Functioning Groups, Rachel Wadsworth Loser
Religion And The Everyday Ritual Of Home Life: A Comparison Of Higher And Lower Family Functioning Groups, Rachel Wadsworth Loser
Theses and Dissertations
As scholarly interest in family religiosity has grown, scholars have called for a closer look at proximal measures of religiosity that are more connected to the individual and familial daily experience (Mahoney et al., 1999). The purpose of this paper is to explore in detail how religion and family religious rituals relate to, interface with, and affect the day-to-day activity of family life. It includes qualitative analysis of interviews with highly religious parents and children in 67 families that belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Grounded theory was employed to analyze the data and a conceptual …

The Value Of Economic Reality: Applying Economic Value Added, David M. Phillips
The Value Of Economic Reality: Applying Economic Value Added, David M. Phillips
Senior Honors Theses
The concept of Economic Value Added (EVA) is a revolutionary way to measure the value of a business. In its simplest form, EVA is a system that determines companies’ worth and performance based on their economic reality, not numbers produced according to traditional accounting rules. EVA sets high standards for measuring performance and is essential for all companies wishing to create value for their shareholders.

On the inspection of the incident site on the 17th April 2007 the following observation was established: The sub-munition was located on the surface, in a declared, sub-surface cleared area. The sub-munition was removed from a mound of soil that had been excavated from an area adjacent to a road, during excavation of a retaining wall and then the sub-munition was placed in this area. The [Demining group] completion documents indicated the area was sub-surface cleared, however where the clearance bordered the road and where overhead power lines were present the area was only surface cleared due to interference when …

Digital Radio In Canada: From Dab To Multi-Platform Approaches., Brian O'Neill
Conference Papers
This paper examines the position of digital radio in Canada. It examines the Canadian experience of digital radio development from its introduction in 1995 to the present and asks whether the approach adopted and the lessons learned provide useful models for application elsewhere. Three main strands form the background to digital radio’s current stage of development: firstly, the introduction and early support for Digital Audio Broadcasting or (DAB) in the mid 1990s; secondly, the response of the radio industry to the internet and new media as complementary to traditional radio broadcasting provision; and thirdly, the more recent experience of the …

The Grapes Of Parnassos, Steven Alan Samson

Western civilization is succumbing to the false fruits of cultural revolutions to which it has consented at each stage of their development. Why do revolutions succeed? They succeed in part because the passing of a single generation is all it takes to wipe the slate and in part because the guardians let down their guard. First, the public memory fades or, as is often the case, is subtly reinterpreted. Then, citizens forget to convey the wealth of their experience and tradition to their children through nurturing, teaching, and testing. Finally, they even neglect to produce the heirs they should be …

Latino Community Abused By Police Brutality, Immigration Raids, Economic Apartheid/La Comunidad Latina Sufre Constantes Abusos Por Parte De La Policia, La Migra, Y La Economia, Gil Villagran
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
It has become clear that too many Latinos are increasingly at risk of their liberties, education and health care, their livelihoods, indeed—in some cases—their very lives. If these risks are due to violent behavior, laziness, poor choices, unhealthy lifestyles, and an unwillingness to work, then it is understandable that people suffer the consequences of their actions. But we know the prevailing truth of our Latino cultural values: hard work, taking care of family, honesty, sharing with others. And if we came to the U.S. as immigrants (with documents or without), we came out of desperation—eager to work hard at an honest …

French Framing Of Anna Karenina: Confused Identities In Russian Aristocratic Culture, Devin Conley '07
French Framing Of Anna Karenina: Confused Identities In Russian Aristocratic Culture, Devin Conley '07
Honors Projects
Anna Karenina uses Russian identities and Russian language in opposition to European culture and French language to highlight the superficiality ofthe Russian aristocracy in the nineteenth century. In the context of the novel, honesty to oneself worth is the highest expression of being; unless one lives in truth, one cannot lay claim to a genuine existence. Culture and, more importantly, cultural identity provide this appraisal and affirmation of our own self-worth, as well as a framework in which to approach life.

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
A well-managed organization sees employees as the source of quality and productivity. This study examines the perception of work motivation in relation to job satisfaction and organizational commitment of library personnel in academic and research libraries in Oyo state, Nigeria. Two hundred library personnel (41% female, 59% male) were selected through a total enumeration sampling from five research and four academic libraries. A questionnaire called Work Motivation, Job Satisfaction, and Organizational Commitment Scale (WMJSCS) with the overall co-efficient of r = 0.83 cronbach alpha was adapted from Organization Commitment Questionnaire by Mooday et al.
