Is There A Successor To Your Business?, David J. Goeller

Cornhusker Economics

Andrew Errington, a professor at the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom, surveyed farmers in England in 1997. He found that 66.3 percent of those farmers surveyed plan to never or only partially retire from farming, leaving only 33.7 percent who planned to someday fully retire. John Baker, Director of the Beginning Farmer Center at Iowa State University, replicated this survey in Iowa in 2000. The same survey was also taken in Virginia in 2001. Max Schmeling, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

The death of Max Schmeling on Friday has been much commented upon over the past few days. I take this to be a recognition of the significance of this man and the memories he evokes around the world. For Americans these memories center on his relationship, both personal and athletic, with Joe Louis.

Does Shame Have A Critical Period? Examining Shame Dynamics In British Adolescents, Michael J. O'Friel Feb 2005

Does Shame Have A Critical Period? Examining Shame Dynamics In British Adolescents, Michael J. O'Friel

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)

Research into the makeup and consequences of shame has burgeoned over the last thirty years as different studies have highlighted the destructive and maladaptive behaviors that can result from an individual's exposure to multiple shaming experiences. Limited research has focused on how culture filters the experience and effects of shame. Cross-cultural research is the 'zeitgeist' in the field of shame, propelling forward the need to gain greater awareness as to the prevalence and impact of shame across cultures. A sample of25 British children aged 9-10 and 25 British children aged 14-15 were asked to respond to a projective test of …

Economy Of Pakistan: An Overview, Ishrat Husain Dr.

Faculty Research - Talks, Speeches, & Discourse

Pakistan was one of the few developing countries that had achieved an average growth rate of over 5 percent over a four decade period ending 1988-89. Consequently, the incidence of poverty had declined from 40 percent to 18 percent by the end of the 1980s. Table I lays down the main economic and social indicators in 1947 and compare them with 2004. The overall picture that emerges from a dispassionate examination of these indicators is that of a country having made significant economic achievements but a disappointing record of social development. The salient features of Pakistan’s economic history are
