Registered Nurse Satisfaction And Patient Satisfaction As Predictors Of Retention, Linda Barnhart
Theses and Graduate Projects
Health care leaders are recognizing the importance of registered nurse retention and patient satisfaction to overall nrBanizminnsl performance. Turnover snd dissatisfaction of nurses and patients are costly. Exploig data and developing strategies to focus on retaining nurses can create a competitive edge producing exceptional outcomes and service.
This paper examines the associaiion between registered nurse satisfaction and patient satisfaction as predictors of retention for 12 patient care units in one health care organization. Because of the limited sample size and mea;inretnent issues, there was no meaningful statistical support for a relationship between nurse satisfaction and patient satisfaction as predictors of …

Three Affiliated Tribes Health Facility Compensation Act, United States Congress, Us House Of Representatives
US Government Documents Related to Indigenous Nations
This report from the United States (US) House Committee on Resources, dated June 3, 2004, was written to accompany US Senate Bill 1146 which proposed the construction of a rural health care facility on the Fort Berthold Reservation, North Dakota. The estimated cost for construction of said facility is 20 million dollars. This facility is part of a continued attempt by the US government to compensate for loss of property, infrastructure, and way of life for the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara people who were forced off their land on the Fort Berthold Reservation due to the construction of the Garrison …

Comparing Twenty-Four Years Of Forest Change In Two Communities Of Mexico's Meseta PuréPecha Using Multi-Spectral Satellite Imagery, Kevin Scott Martin
Comparing Twenty-Four Years Of Forest Change In Two Communities Of Mexico's Meseta PuréPecha Using Multi-Spectral Satellite Imagery, Kevin Scott Martin
Dissertations and Theses
The Meseta Purépecha, a volcanic plateau in the Mexican state of Michoacan, is home to one of the most species-rich pine forests in the world. Recent increases in demand for forest products has put added pressure on these resources. Though existing research has suggested significant deforestation in the Meseta, there is little information identifying specific areas of decline. This study focuses on two indigenous communities in the Meseta--Pichátaro and Sevina. Both communities have long relied on wood as an economic resource. However, the two communities have reacted differently to increased demand for forest resources. The purpose of this study is …

The Changing Of The Guard Or : Moving From Paper To "E" With A New Financial Model, Johan Engelbrecht
The Changing Of The Guard Or : Moving From Paper To "E" With A New Financial Model, Johan Engelbrecht
Proceedings of the IATUL Conferences
The Changing of the Guard, or Moving from Print to “E” with a new Financial Model. Johan Engelbrecht, Univ of Stellenbosch During the past decade academic libraries all over the world have been faced with escalating costs which made budgeting for information resources, and especially academic journals, a nightmare. Libraries in South Africa were no exception, and the matter was made worse by the continuous weakening of the South African currency against major overseas currencies such as the Dollar and the Euro. In 2002 alone the South African Rand weakened by as much as 40% against the American Dollar. This …
Quality Management/Change Management: Two Sides Of The Same Coin?, Felicity Mcgregor
Quality Management/Change Management: Two Sides Of The Same Coin?, Felicity Mcgregor
Proceedings of the IATUL Conferences
Change management strategies, as discussed in the literature, commonly share similar approaches and processes. Quality management or business excellence frameworks include many of the elements seen to be essential to effective change management. By adopting a management framework, a holistic approach to organisational change, development and innovation can be achieved. Instead of managing change as a series of events, a system wide approach is adopted. The disparate elements of effective management practice: human resources, industrial relations, customer relationship management, leadership strategies and planning processes are all integrated in a model underpinned by a systems approach and informed by systematic data …

A New Era In Library And Information Collaboration In New Zealand, Ainslie Dewe

The New Zealand government has signalled a new era for collaboration by establishing a Library and Information Advisory Commission (LIAC) under the National Library of New Zealand Act 2003. The statutory purpose of the Commission is to “provide advice to the Minister on library and information issues, including mātauranga Māori”. LIAC is required to take account of recent national and international developments in relation to library and information services. The promotion of collaboration in relation to protecting, preserving and promoting access to information is specifically listed as a key responsibility of LIAC. LIAC is an independent advisor to government via …

The Economics Of Services In Changing Environment, Arja-Riita Haarala
The Economics Of Services In Changing Environment, Arja-Riita Haarala
Proceedings of the IATUL Conferences
This presentation concentrates on the management issues associated with providing library and information services in a changing environment. The transition from print to digital media has been a success story in many countries. At the same time, libraries are under increasing pressure to justify their expenditure. An answer to the crucial question is needed: Does this expenditure in terms of costs and benefits justify the services delivered? Publishers have encouraged the new trend by offering resources in digital format at little or no additional cost to the print subscription, but how will it be the future. New pricing models are …
