Stress has become a problem to which people of all walks of life may relate, affecting the actions of the individual on both professional and personal levels. In the field of education, administrators often report a high level of stress, sometimes referred to as burnout. Much has been written about teacher stress, but very little research has been done on stress encountered by elementary principals. Research was conducted on stress as perceived by elementary principals in the Commonwealth of Kentucky for this study.

There has been a vast expansion of school education facilities in India since the launching of the First Five Year Plan in 1951. The findings of the All India Educational Surveys conducted periodically under the direction of the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT). Government of India, have revealed that the benefits of this large-scale expansion of school facilities have not been so satisfactory as were expected; inequalities between different areas as well as between social groups in terms of access to school facilities have persisted. Let F ( x ) be a convex function defined in R n , which is symmetric about the origin and homogeneous of degree 1, and let L be the lattice of integers Z n . A definition of a reduced basis, b 1 , …, b n , of the lattice with respect to the distance function F is presented, and we describe an algorithm which yields a reduced basis in polynomial time, for fixed n. In the special case in which the bodies { x : F ( x ) < t } are ellipsoids, the definition of a reduced basis is identical with that given by Lenstra, Lenstra and Lovasz (1982) and the algorithm is the well known basis reduction algorithm. We show that the basis vector b 1 , in a reduced basis, is an approximation to a shortest non-zero lattice point with respect to F and relate the basis vectors b i to Minkowski’s successive minima. The results lead to an algorithm for integer programming which executes in polynomial time for fixed n, but which avoids the ellipsoidal approximation required by Lenstra’s algorithm. We also discuss the properties of a Korkine-Zolotarev basis for the lattice.

Wetlands Provisions In The 1985 And 1990 Farm Bills, F. Gregory Hayden

In 1984, my national agricultural policy article surprised some readers because its first concern was with policy regarding the natural environment [Hayden 1984]. Others thought it contained the policy agenda that agricultural policymakers could expect in the future. The future came more quickly than most expected when the 1985 Farm Bill (Food Security Act) included provisions to limit harmful impacts of the agriculture industry on the environment. The purpose of this article is to explore the importance, success, and future of the Swampbuster provision that was intended to protect wetlands in the United States from further agricultural destruction.

The Acquisition Of Spelling By Developmentally Disabled Adults: An Examination Of Some Variations Of The Look-Cover-Write-Check Cycle, Mark Stafford

Masters Theses

Five developmentally disabled adults were taught to spell groups of five words using the look-over-write-check cycle, in which the subject looks at the word, covers it, writes the word, then looks at the word again to check the accuracy of spelling. Four variations of this procedure were used with each of the subjects including requiring the subjects to spell the words out loud in the "look" component. The results showed that the subjects required fewer sessions and fewer trials to spell the five words when the out loud requirement was in effect.
