Whole Farm Analysis Of Low-Input Sustainable Farming Systems Using An Extension Farm Financial Management Package, Mark Leddy, Thomas Dobbs, Burton Pflueger

These factors have led many farmers to consider "alternative" farming methods and practices to replace conventional farming practices. "Alternative" systems include those going by a variety of labels, not all of which always mean the same thing. Terms used include regenerative sustainable, low-input, and organic, among others. A recently established research and education program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture uses the term "low-input/sustainable agriculture" ("LISA"). The LISA program contrasts conventional and alternative or low-input/sustainable farming systems in …

The Intendant, The Merchants, And Free Trade In Louisiana, 1778-1788, Brian E. Coutts
DLPS Faculty Publications
Spain acquired Louisiana from France in 1763 but was initially unsuccessful in integrating the distant colony into the Spanish commercial system. Encouraged by the colony’s chief financial officer, Intendant Martín Navarro, the Spanish Crown introduced legislation on January 22, 1782 to promote commerce. Free trade was to be permitted for ten years with designated ports in France. The liberal character of the code fostered the growth of numerous merchant companies in New Orleans who found markets for all of Louisiana’s exports in France, England and the French West Indies. Unfortunately, Spain continued to absorb all of the administrative costs for …

Winona Campus Life
Winona Campus Life was a weekly laboratory newspaper produced by the WSU Mass Communciation Department students and printed as a supplement to the Sunday Winona Daily News, which began in September 1983. The newspaper provided coverage of the four institutions of higher education in Winona: Winona State University, St. Mary's University, College of Saint Teresa, and Winona Area Vocational-Technical School. It was created to provide a place for Mass Communcation students to publish their articles and photographs with the idea of generating reader feedback, which is essential in journalism education.

A Comparative Study Of Chinese Efl Reading Instruction And American Esl Reading Instruction, Changhua Wang
Dissertations and Theses
Reading instruction in China and that in the United States are so different that they are not compatible. In fact, they seem to go in opposite directions. This study examined some of the differences between Chinese EFL reading instruction and American ESL reading instruction through analyzing selected tape-recordings of reading classes from China and the United States, and comparing Chinese EFL reading textbooks with American ESL reading textbooks.
This study was intended to answer the following questions.
1. Is a bottom-up method of reading really taught in China while a top-down method is taught in the United States?
2. Compared …
