The Relationship Of Church Activity Of Parents Of Lds Seminary Students To The Attendance Of Seminary Students At Church, Ronald D. Firth

It has been observed that not all L.D.S. Seminary students are active in church attendance. There is little doubt in the minds of educators that parents affect a great deal the activities of their children.

The purpose of the study was to learn what relationship, if any, existed between a seminary student's church attendance and the church activities of his parents, and to find out which, if any, of five specific areas of parental church activity had the most positive effect on a student's church attendance.

This thesis is a field report on the archaeological sites surveyed by the author in Goshen Valley, Utah County, Utah. The survey has the threefold objectives of: (1) surveying and recording of sites in Goshen Valley; (2) providing information on the material culture of the ancient inhabitants of the valley; and (3) discovering whether there was a dividing line during the Fremont occupation between the Provo and Sevier regions as outlined by Jones (1961), Green (1964), and Ambler (1966).

A Folk History Of The Manti Temple: A Study Of The Folklore And Traditions Connected With The Settlement Of Manti, Utah, And The Building Of The Temple, Barbara Lee Hargis

For some time I have been collecting folk material of the pioneers of Sanpete County, Utah, and their subsequent building of the Manti Temple. A few of the county's senior citizens witnessed part of the construction in the late 1870's and 1880's and the dedication in 1888 of the Temple. Many more are descendants of men and women who were directly involved in the building of the Temple and in the early work done there after its construction.

The 1900 elections have been little touched in historical studies of Utah. However 1900 was a year of special interest and deserves an examination. In that year a Special Election was held, all state offices were up for renewal and a Presidential Election took place.

The special election was necessary because B. H. Roberts had been denied his seat in the United States Congress. Roberts was excluded because he was a polygamist. Statement of the problem. This paper is an examination of William Sydney Porter's Latin American stories in light of their inter-American significance. The basic point of view from which the study is made is that Porter is a North American writing about Latin American at the beginning of the twentieth century. A number of writers have suggested that in comparison to normals, schizophrenics are less responsive to positive records or reinforcers (e.g., Hunt & Cofor, 1944) and overly sensitive to punishment or social censure as compared to normals (Fromm-Reichman 1954). Garmezy & Rodnick (1957) have proposed that schizophrenics are highly sensitive to any censure or disapproval, arising from their interpersonal contacts. They further say that such intolerable levels of anxiety are aroused that schizophrenics are held to be much more strongly motivated than normals to reduce the anxiety by acting to avoid or escape the censorious aspects of the situation.
