The major emphasis of this study is the economic feasibility of the use of alcohol-gasoline blends (gasohol) and alcohol fuels; but all major issues concerning the use of gasohol and alcohol fuels are explored. The specific objectives of the investigation include the determination of the specific performance properties of the fuels, their pollutant emissions (compared to gasoline), and their costs compared to gasoline.

During the past decade there has been a concerted effort by teacher unions in this country to gain political power. This effort has not been limited to the arena of partisan politics at the state and national levels. There have also been attempts at the local level to gain political influence over boards of education. The purpose of this study was to determine if the political action efforts of a local teacher association resulted in the election of the union's endorsed candidates to the board of education.

The Hand Test (Wagner, 1962) was administered to 50 institutionalized elderly subjects. There were 36 female and 14 male subjects with a mean age of 76.94 years and a standard deviation of 10.48 years. A list of possible subjects was initially obtained from the activity directors at each nursing home. They were instructed to list the individuals which were "alert" and would be cooperative. The subjects were given a brief organic screening device to eliminate those subjects of severe or moderate mental impairment. Behavioral treatments for insomnia have seen increasing use in recent years due to the inefficacy of pharmacological treatments. Behavioral treatments utilized have included progressive relaxation training, systematic desensitization, stimulus control procedures, biofeedback, autogenic training, paradoxical instructions, and several miscellaneous procedures. Research has shown all of these treatments to be effective, although there have been methodological flaws in many of the studies. Stimulus control procedures have never been compared to progressive relaxation in the treatment of insomnia.

If blacks are to compete successfully in white academia, they must be able to communicate and interact with white students and professors. Acceptance of middle-class white students with an academic achievement orientation, as friends and equals, should enable or assist blacks in developing positive attitudes toward academic achievement. This in turn should positively affect scholastic performance. On November 11, 1965, Ian Smith, Prime Minister of Rhodesia, proclaimed his country's unilateral declaration of independence (UDI) from Great Britain. His proclamation set off a storm of protest around the world from the United States to the Soviet Union. The criticisms were generally the same: the white minority government of Rhodesia was accused of illegally seizing power. One of the basic and challenging tasks in archaeology is the interpretation of artifacts and the reconstruction of prehistoric cultures. Difficulties arise primarily because (1) not all past human behavior is manifest in the archaeological record, and (2) that which remains is only adequately represented. Our success at understanding prehistory is further limited by differential preservation, lack of representative samples, and loss of contextual data. Even with the use of sophisticated recovery techniques, vigorous analysis, and statistical manipulation it is seldom possible to arrive at neat reconstructions. The decision of the British Government to publicly finance New Town building was a landmark event. The decision was, however, a result of many years of prior experimentation. These experiments ranged from trial-and-error to plans well thought out, that contained within them many philosophical goals.

The first widely accepted formulation of a New Town was that of Ebenezer Howard. The theoretical plan contained several goals that were to be developed, used, and modified by later British planners.
