The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between religion, religiosity, archetypal roles and self-esteem. The sample consisted of 61 students at a Midwestern university. The participants completed a series of surveys including two measures of religiosity, a self-esteem measure, and a Female Archetype Scale. The findings indicated that religions differ on levels of religiosity and female archetypes. In addition, there were correlations between religiosity and archetype, and self-esteem and religiosity. The significant correlations for the feminine archetypes were that were that Sekhmet was positively correlated with intrinsic religiosity, and negatively correlated with extrinsic religiosity and Connectedness; Demeter …

This study compared the fluency and accuracy rates produced when using the Cover, Copy, and Compare and Copy, Cover, and Compare interventions to complete subtraction math problems. Two second grade classrooms consisting of 20 or more students participated in the study. Participants were administered a pretest, Cover, Copy, and Compare worksheet, Copy, Cover, and Compare worksheet, and a posttest. Results revealed significantly higher digits correct per second (i.e. fluency) scores on the posttest and Cover, Copy, and Compare worksheets when compared to the pretest and Copy, Cover, and Compare worksheets with no difference in the errors per second (i.e. accuracy) …

An inventory management system that does not ensure inventory record accuracy greatly reduces the ability of a company to control inventory levels and fulfill customer requirements. This study investigated how two principles of inventory management affected three business metrics: on-time delivery, inventory record accuracy, and inventory level management.

Eight manufacturers of aircraft parts and equipment in northeastern lllinois responded to a survey created to analyze the effects of ABC classification of inventory and cycle counting techniques on inventory management. For the transition economies of Eastern and Central Europe and Central Asia, this study reveals that poverty and income distribution move in the same direction. Following a low income inequality and a target of zero poverty before 1989, the transition caused a worsening of distribution of income and wealth, and an increase in absolute poverty.

Collective bargaining in the public sector is inherently political. Public unions negotiate either directly or indirectly with elected public officials. This thesis explores the political bargaining strategies adopted by municipal public unions and the inherent factors that surround the collective bargaining process (e.g. trust, state of the economy, community interest groups, and media). The intentions of this study were to see if these variables influenced negotiated wage increases and the likelihood of experiencing bargaining impasses. The purpose of this research was to assess the needs of Eastern Illinois University students regarding nutrition-related topics of concern and programming methods. Four hundred ninety-two students and four health professionals participated. The results indicate that students consume grains and vegetables in less than recommended amounts, fruits and dairy products within the recommended amounts, and meats, sweets, oils, and fats, and alcohol in excess. This study investigates the influence of work hours on academic achievement, measured by grade point average (GPA). GPA is chosen because it is a more direct measure of performance in high school than standardized tests. It captures the day-to-day performance of students on everything from homework to quizzes and in-class participation to final examinations.

The Construct Validity Of The Wechsler Abbreviated Scale Of Intelligence (Wasi) And The Wide Range Intelligence Test (Writ): Replication And Extension, Gregory S. Wilson

The purpose of this study was to further verify the relationship between the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence (WASI) and the Wide Range Intelligence Test (WRIT) by replicating Collins' (2002) study regarding the convergent validity between these two tests. To assess the convergent validity of the WASI and WRIT, two newer brief intelligence tests, 86 participants from central Illinois public schools were administered both measures in counterbalanced order. All correlations between the WASI and WRIT were significant (p < .05). Furthermore, the correlations between the corresponding IQ scales and subtests of the WASI and WRIT were moderate to high, ranging from .55 (r2 = .30) to .82 (r²= .67). The results provided convergent evidence for the construct validity of the WASI and WRIT and supported the contention made by Collins (2002) that the WASI and WRIT are measuring similar constructs. The results of the joint exploratory factor analysis supported the retention of only one factor (general intelligence "g"). A forced, two-factor solution resulted in 10.50% more variation among WASI/WRIT subtest scores. However, the two factors correlated at a high magnitude (r = .75), and all subtests cross-loaded with their theoretical dissimilar factor. The results of the factor analysis supporteda conclusion that the WASI and WRIT are best conceptualized as providing strong measurements of general intelligence.

The current study examined the association between gender and depression in childhood and adolescence with respect to social-cognitive, behavioral, and gender-role factors. The participants for this study were 231 children and adolescents ranging in age from 8 to 17 years old. Participants completed a demographic survey and measures assessing depression, self-esteem, self and peer ratings of social standing, cognitive errors in social standing, peer rejected and aggressive behaviors, femininity, and masculinity. The relationship between Illinois Standard Achievement Test reading scores for 3rd and 5th graders and their oral reading fluency rates was examined. Four hundred fifty nine students in those grades were given reading probes to determine their reading rate. Reading rate was defined as words read aloud per minute correctly on reading probes composed of text from the students' basal readers as measured by the classroom teacher. The present study examined bias within the diagnostic criteria for personality disorders, a category for diagnosis in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders published by the American Psychiatric Association. Specifically, gender biases, ethnic biases, and interaction effects between the two were examined for the three Cluster C PD diagnoses. One of the more heated controversies concerning the DSM-IV involves the diagnosis of PD's, especially with regard to the notion of diagnostic bias.
