Technocratic Teamwork: Mitigating Polarization And Cultural Marginalization In An Engineering Firm, Jerry K. Daday, Beverly B. Burris
Sociology Faculty Publications
Many corporations attempt to establish a unified corporate culture as a way of orienting employees toward corporate goals and objectives. However, a technocratic organizational structure has been found to exist in many high-tech corporations, which divides employees into an expert and non-expert sector based on differences in credentials and technical expertise. Because of this division, employees working within these two sectors experience differences in corporate rewards, worker autonomy, and creative freedoms. These factors have been found to lead to a polarized, divided, and discontented workforce. To understand how a technocratic structure influences and affects a dominant corporate culture and organizational …

Margery Kempe And Perfectionism, Howell Williams
Margery Kempe And Perfectionism, Howell Williams
Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects
Late fourteenth, early fifteenth-century mystic Margery Kempe (1373 ca. 1439) was an extraordinary lay Christian who sought spiritual perfection-sand did so outside the confines of traditional religious orders. However, understanding Kempe's quest is, as evidenced by scholars having classified her as everything from a hysteric, anorexic, heretic, or self-centered egocentric to a revered saint. Kempe's life cannot be exclusively categorized into anyone of these classifications. Instead, she was on a general quest to understand the suffering of Christ. Her life pursuits may well be illustrated by using the broader psychoanalytical term spiritual perfection. This thesis examines the effects of this …

Nursing Considerations In The Assessment Of An Autistic Child, Leanna Walker
Nursing Considerations In The Assessment Of An Autistic Child, Leanna Walker
Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects
A comprehensive assessment is essential for creating a nursing care plan for a child with autistic disorder. A standardized tool provides a guide for gathering assessment data; however, the method of assessment must be individualized to each patient. The nurse's role in planning care for a child with autism is discussed and implemented through development of a nursing care plan based on assessment of an autistic child. The assessment was performed using a version of Gordon's Functional Health Patterns, modified by the researcher to encompass all aspects of health concern for an autistic child.

The majority of participants reported using three selection procedures: interviews, application blanks, and reference checks.
