Homelessness and period (menstruation) poverty are recurring global phenomena. In the United States, approximately 220,000 women experience homelessness annually. Studies have shown that approximately 35% of individuals who menstruate experience period poverty while living in Baltimore, Maryland. The theoretical foundation was Wollstonecraft‘s theory of feminism. To better understand this phenomenon, a general qualitative study was conducted using semistructured interviews with 18 people who were once homeless while menstruating. In this case study the strategies and hindrances in the well-being for leaders in a behavioral health organization located in the southern United States were explored. The study was framed around the Baldrige Excellence Framework focusing specifically on the components of leadership, workforce, and strategy. Data were collected including semi-structured interviews, analysis of numerous internal documents, and secondary sources of peer reviewed articles, and organizational websites and media. The results of this study revealed the organization demonstrated a commitment to maintaining a positive working environments and promoting their workforce’s well-being. Mindfulness practice has been shown in the literature to enable school students of all ages to have better coping skills and academic achievement. The school milieu is a good fit for the delivery of mindfulness interventions. Implementing programming in schools is challenging, and there is a gap in understanding whether schools will successfully adopt mindfulness programs. It is not known whether gun death rates vary with the implementation of Stand Your Ground (SYG) laws in Alabama. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine differences in the rate of gun deaths in Alabama since the implementation of SYG laws. This study examined what motivated male inmates in a private Oklahoma prison to participate in general education diploma or the Microsoft Office Specialist certification program. Research questions explored, what factors motivated program participants to participate in educational programs while incarcerated? Exonerees (i.e., wrongfully convicted individuals) experience difficulties during the reintegration process when gaining employment, housing, healthcare, and financial compensation. External factors are known to negatively impact reintegration. One internal negative consequence of wrongful convictions and the reintegration process for exonerees is identity changes. Less known is the impact of internal factors on reintegration. Self-esteem and self-compassion are two known constructs that comprise personal identity. The relationships between these two constructs with reintegration difficulties of DNA-exonerees were researched. While numerous studies have explored various aspects of end-of-life care, a significant gap persists in the literature regarding the emotional burden experienced by informal caregivers as they grapple with challenging decisions. Additionally, with current federal and state guidelines, administrators do not have clear policies to drive equity for patients and their informal caregivers. Not long ago, researchers and providers learned about the negative impacts that adverse childhood experiences have on not only the psychological health of the survivor but also the physical. Adverse physical health outcomes such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes mellitus, autoimmune diseases, and more were identified as a risk for this population. These adverse outcomes occur largely due to immune dysfunction through systemic inflammation. The purpose of this quantitative correlational design study conducted via survey methodology with nephrology social workers was to examine the independent variables of dialysis settings, years of experience, and caseload sizes as predictors of the levels of burnout, the dependent variable. Despite existing research on clergy stress, there remained a gap in understanding how social support affected the relationship between occupational distress and somatic symptoms among Catholic clergy in the United States. The purpose of the study was to examine the race and gender differences among retired enlisted service members in work self-determination regarding the decision to reenlist. Existing research indicated little to no information regarding these factors. The independent variables are race and gender, and the dependent variable is work self-determination in the decision-making to re-enlist. This research utilized an adapted version of the Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale, an 18-item assessment of work motivation theoretically grounded in self-determination theory. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences and challenges of sobriety for recovering adults returning to college. Mass incarceration is a public health crisis in the United States. Scholarly research has shown that incarceration may lead to exacerbated psychiatric conditions and increased recidivism risk. Lawmakers and policymakers have turned toward therapeutic jurisprudence (TJ) to develop and implement trauma-informed crime prevention and intervention strategies that focus on diverting individuals from prisons and into community-based treatment. Career progression of U.S. military officers into the senior officer corps remains a difficult objective. Current research focuses on the lack of diversity in the senior officer corps and systematic factors inhibiting officers from promotions. This study was grounded in McCrae and Costa’s five-factor model of personality, to examine U.S. military officers’ personality characteristics and their relation to promotion while moderating for race. This quantitative study used binary logistical regression of survey data to establish whether the personality characteristics of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism predict promotion. Depression is a chronic and debilitating disorder. Approximately 280 million people live with depression, and more than 700,000 lives are lost due to suicide each year. Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) is a severe form of depression which is highly correlated with comorbid psychiatric disorders such as attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) and associated with increased suicidality. Anhedonia, the reduced ability to experience pleasure, is associated with various psychiatric conditions, including ADHD. The theoretical framework for this study was the biopsychosocial model.
