This is the fourth in a series of papers by Jones, et al., dealing with the systematics and distributional status of mammals on the Yucatán Peninsula of México. The present contribution lists 24 native species belonging to the orders Carnivora (18 species), Sirenia (one), Perissodactyla (one), and Artiodactyla (four). Among the carnivores there are one canid, six procyonids, six mustelids, and five felids, whereas the Artiodactyla is represented by two families (Tayassuidae and Cervidae), each with two species.

The Yucatán Peninsula as treated in this series of papers includes the Mexican states of Campeche and Yucatan, and the Federal Territory …

We cannot attain that level of efficient food production without a far more efficient and effective world agriculture than we have today.

Eighty-seven fall-collected wings from female redhead ducks (Aythya americana) were as- signed to the adult or juvenile group based on "tertial" and "tertial covert" shape and wear. To obtain spring age-related characters from these fall-collected groupings, we considered parameters of flight feathers retained until after the first breeding season. Parameters measured included: markings on and width of greater secondary coverts, and length, weight, and diameter of primary feathers. The best age categorization was obtained with discriminant analysis based on a combination of the most accurately measured parameters. This impression contradicts some popularly held stereotypes about relations between the sexes in hunting and gathering societies. In his conclusion, Deetz attempts. to, establish a link between the changes in residence and ceramic patterning in a more systematic way. He points out that, there can be three possible relationships between the two. First, there is no relationship between changes in social organization and ceramics. This denies the relationship between social structure and ceramic design in general. If true, other examples of this articulation would not be found in archaeological contexts. This paper deals with the lifeways of prehistoric populations inhabiting the North American Southwest from 12,000 to 10,000 years ago. Included is a brief delimitation and description of the Southwest area, a review of several current concepts regarding the environmental conditions in existence during the temporal span under concern, a series of brief descriptions of sites and site materials involved, and a concluding section wherein interpretation and inferences are drawn from both internal and external data. Three distinct complexes are recognized which appear to represent sequential cultural adaptations to shifting environmental conditions.

The decline of anthropological research in museums has been in part attributed to the changing goals of anthropology and the increase in the numbers of university anthropology departments. In recent years many suggestions for increasing museum research potentials have been put forward by Anthropologists interested in its resurgence. An increasing cooperation between museums and university departments is seen as a necessary condition for this resurgence and could lead to more programs which include and train museum anthropologists.

On 25 April 1975, at the twenty-second annual meeting of the Southwestern Association of Naturalists (SWAN), at the University of Oklahoma Biological Station, President Keith A. Arnold appointed Jerry Choate to investigate current regulations pertaining to collection and transport of scientific specimens in the region of representation (including Mexico) or SWAN. This charge involves both Federal and State laws, several of which are undergoing change and many of which doubtlessly are not familiar to the membership of SWAN. Americans are acutely aware of this responsibility. This concern is reflected in the tremendous amount of literature about children. This study examines the moral judgment levels (as measured by Kohlberg’s 6-stage moral judgment interview) for two Kenyan samples. The first sample includes a culturally and racially group of 35 young men and 17 women studying at the University of Nairobi, while the second sample consists of 44 males and 14 females living in seven communities in the Central and Western Provinces of Kenya who were interviewed by a cadre of trained University students on their school vacation. The moral judgment interview included four hypothetical moral dilemmas and a standard set of probing questions. Three of the dilemmas were standard …

LB-722 established the Nebraska Agricultural Products Industrial Utilization Research Program (Nebraska Program) which in the course of its ambitious life undertook the re-education, first of Nebraska's production-oriented agricultural citizens, and then of other agricultural states and the Federal Government. America's livestock industries currently are facing a harsh climate. I refer not just to the weather problems that lowered feedstuffs production this year -- though the weather has certainly been bad enough. We started the year with drought in the Southwest that hit grain sorghum production and a good bit of feed wheat. Then the heavy rains delayed corn planting -- and the long, hot dry spell struck those late-planted crops and nearly finished some of them. Now we have had problems with early frost.

The Yucatán Peninsula, as encompassed in this series of papers, includes the Mexican states of Campeche and Yucatán, and the Federal Territory of Quintana Roo. This region is a low-lying plain that rises gently in elevation from north to south. It is surrounded on three sides by water and bounded on the south by British Honduras (i.e. Belize), Guatemala, and the Mexican state of Tabasco. The vegetation of the peninsula increases in height from north to south and from the coast inland. The pothole areas within the glaciated, northern prairies and adjoining parklands of south-central Canada and north-central United States are the principal breeding grounds for many species of North American ducks. Millions of pairs, including dabbling ducks (Anatinae) and diving ducks (Aythyinae and Oxyurinae), resort here for nesting each year. These populations are characterized by instability. In response to the variable climatic conditions of this region and their effect on wetland habitats, the numbers of breeding pairs often fluctuate greatly from year to year.
