Data Information Literacy Symposium
As part of the Data Information Literacy (DIL) project, funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the University of Minnesota (UMN) Libraries partnered with Purdue University, Cornell University, and the University of Oregon to identify:
- What data management and curation skills are needed by graduate students in the sciences to take advantage of opportunities in e-science?
- How can academic librarians contribute their expertise in information organization, dissemination and preservation to better serve modern science?
The UMN team worked with a structures research group in the Civil Engineering Department.

Libraries Faculty and Staff Presentations
For an area with the common goal of providing free online public access to scholarship and research, the ways in which Open Access are accomplished can be very different. Just as there is green, blue, yellow, and gold open access, there can also be different “colors” of open access activities and initiatives. This presentation addresses some of the open access initiatives currently in use and in development at Purdue University to increase access to scholarship. Presented at the 3rd Annual Great Lakes e-Summit Conference, September 23, 2013, Oregon, Ohio.

Libraries Faculty and Staff Presentations
This poster reports on the results of a content analysis project in which transcripts of interviews with professors in seven disciplines. The faculty members were interviewed about the data education needs of their students. The results indicate that generally faculty members feel that graduate students are unprepared to manage data when the enter graduate education. Many faculty are under the impression that students had previously received training on data management topics but were still lacking in skills.
Correlating The Purdue Spatial Visualization Test With The Wonderlic Personnel Test For American Football Players, Karthik Sukumar
Correlating The Purdue Spatial Visualization Test With The Wonderlic Personnel Test For American Football Players, Karthik Sukumar
Department of Computer Graphics Technology Degree Theses
This research study aims to find the relationship between the scores for the Purdue Spatial Visualization test (PSVT) and the Wonderlic Personnel test (WPT) for American collegiate football players. Fifty-five collegiate football players took part in the study by attempting the PSVT and the WPT. The scores on these tests were compared to find if there existed a correlation between the scores on both these tests. The results showed that the scores on both these tests had a significant correlation with respect to each other. But, the group that took the WPT before the PSVT showed a lower correlation between …
