I returned to this city on the 10 [ ] in good health having enjoyed my trip to Oregon, and, Puget Sound very much. I intend going up to the Sound again in about ten days. I went up for the purpose of getting orders, and, soliciting trade for a firm in this city, and, at the same time took a small stock of goods with me I did very well, and, think that there is a very good opening for a fair trade on the Sound.

New York Tribune, Vol. XV. No. 759, Saturday, March 29, 1856. New York Tribune is an American daily newspaper established by Horace Greeley in 1841. From the 1840s through the 1860s it was the dominant Whig Party and then Republican newspaper in the U.S. In 1924 it was merged with the New York Herald to form the New York Herald Tribune, which in turn ceased publication in 1966.

From the 1840s through the 1860s it was the dominant Whig Party and then Republican newspaper in the U.S. In 1924 it was merged with the New York Herald to form the New York Herald Tribune, which in turn ceased publication in 1966.

This Executive Document, dated March 24, 1856, also known as United States (US) House of Representatives Executive Document No. 65, consists of a message from US President Franklin Pierce, in which Pierce transmits, "in obedience to [the US House of Representatives'] resolution of the 17th instant, a communication from the Secretary of the Interior, accompanied by a copy of the report of Superintendent [Alfred] Cumming, in regard to his late expedition among the tribes of the Indians on the Upper Missouri."
