Volunteer subjects are utilized in a large portion of experiments concerned with human behavior. Yet the use of volunteers is a form of systematic sampling bias which may well distort research findings. This study was undertaken to explore some of the factors related to volunteering for psychological experiments at Richmond College in the hope of providing future researchers with insight into reasons why the use of volunteer subjects may bias their research results and of stimulating them to use more representative, albeit less convenient sampling procedures.

This study will be an investigation of the relationship between test scores of creativity, according to the Minnesota Tests of Creative Thinking (Torrance, 1960), and teacher ratings of creativity for third grade children. The hypothesis that highly creative individuals tend to give deviant response patterns on the PRT will also be tested.

The present study was designed to overcome, at least to some extent, the problems by using older, experimentally naive subjects am shorter programs. A comparison is made between successive performances by a group of college students on a series of three programs. The null hypothesis is that there will be no significant differences between performances on the three programs. On the other hand, significant decreases in effectiveness of performance by the subjects on the successive program could be taken as evidence that the expected novelty effect operating initially in the learning situation dissipates with increasing exposure of the subjects to …

Since the discovery of the law of effect, psychologists have been investigating a number of the parameters of reinforcing stimuli. The law of effect states that a response is learned, or not learned, depending upon the events (effects) that follow it. The purpose of this study was to explore the concept meanings of senior women students of the State College of Iowa who had completed the student teaching requirement of the Professional Sequence for the Bachelor of Arts Degree--Teaching Program. An attempt was made to ascertain the similarities and differences in the meanings of the concepts held by the students, and to assess the extent to which they had identified with the role of teaching. In November of 1964, California voters approved by a very substantial margin the legislative measure known as Proposition 14, a hotly contested constitutional amendment which abolished all then-existing Fair Housing Legislation and prohibited local levels of government from acting in such matters in the future. This legislation was sponsored by the California Real Estate Association and essentially was a response to a recently passed Fair Housing Law known as the Rumford Act, which prohibited discrimination in the sale and rental of housing and assigned enforcement responsibilities to the State Fair Employment Practices Commission.

This study was concerned with the task of determining necessary steps for establishing an errorless method of discrimination training in a right-left problem. It was designed to establish a terminal motor response of the S placing the "correct" hand on a blank stimulus board in response to an auditory stimulus of "Left" or "Right." To achieve this terminal response in a group of institutionalized retardates, stimuli of a previously learned color discrimination (pink and blue) were presented immediately following the corresponding auditory stimulus of "Left" or "Right" during each of the initial discrimination trials. This study hypothesizes that there exists between a person's value orientation as measured by the Study of Values and his function-types as described by Jung. It is the E's assumption that there is some kind of correspondence between the value processes and the function-types because of their similar approaches. For example, the sensing function is identical with perception of stimuli being received through the sense organs while the aesthetic value seeks form and harmony in an experience.
