Purpose Statement: Several studies have shown that aerobic exercise can have a positive impact on alleviating symptoms experienced by individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD). Despite this evidence, the potential benefits of exercise for both PD patients and their care partners (PD dyad) remain unexplored. This research project investigates the effectiveness, therapeutic collaborations, and physical outcomes of a virtual reality (VR) tandem cycling program specifically designed for PD dyads.

Methods: Following approval from the Prisma Health Institutional Review Board, individuals with PD were identified and screened by clinical neurologists. The pre-testing measures for PD dyads (N=9) included emotional and cognitive status …

The current narrative toward LSCO warfighting comes at the expense of lessons hard-won over decades of small wars and stability operations. However, while citizenship was almost automatic for veterans in centuries past, today this is more difficult to achieve, and some veterans may even be at risk of deportation because they did not or were not able to naturalize. This study examines those identified as homegrown violent extremists within the U.S. who also had experience with the U.S. military and the possible pathways to extremism they took. This research relies on the Salafi Jihadist Inspired Profiles and Radicalization Clusters (SPARC) study. By applying Kruglanski’s 3N theory of radicalization to a sample of 23 subjects who had joined, or attempted to join, the U.S. military, this study finds that most of those with military experience are radicalized by formal, organization-led networks and are motivated by social significance loss, suggesting that they have moved their personal identification from the U.S. military …

In the present qualitative study, researchers focused on the similarities among college-aged military kids due to similar upbringings and shared experiences. The study was conducted through semi-structured interviews in which participants were asked to draw conclusions between past experiences and present attitudes. Researchers found major themes during the interviews and the themes of military pride, respect, and acculturation are the focus of the current presentation.

Military intelligence, the process of gathering and evaluating information, parallels skills often taught in the library instruction classroom. Inspired by this connection, two librarians worked with an ROTC instructor to create a library orientation tailored to the interests and learning styles of Army ROTC Cadets that encouraged them to find and evaluate information about the library.

This case study involved interviews with a group of Reservists and Veterans Reservists, all of whom had deployed. As Reservists alternate between jobs or college and active duty or deployment, these constant transitions can cause significant psychological challenges. We propose that Reservists should be considered as possessing a hybrid culture, comparable to civilian and military cultures. Reservists are sandwiched between the demands of civilian and military cultures, and a successful acclamation into this hybrid culture necessitates resilient psychological adaptability on the part of the Reservists. This study highlights areas where collaborations are required to establish resilience in this hybrid culture.

The purpose of this paper to determine why civil war onset reduces political globalization in former British colonies. Through linear regression and logistic regression analyses, I test the affect of civil war onset and the presence of civil war on political globalization, controlling for former British colonies, French colonies, and other factors. More important, however, is the history behind British colonialism.
