Familicide is a rare but devastating form of family violence involving the killing of multiple family members by another family member. Although research examining domestic violence, homicide, and homicide-suicide has expanded, familicide remains less understood due to its low occurrence and complex nature. This capstone examined the psychosocial, behavioral, and mental health risk factors commonly associated with familicide perpetrators and explored how forensic behavioral health professionals may use this information to improve violence risk assessment, prevention, and intervention efforts. This capstone examined the relationship between deficits in emotional intelligence and behavioral escalation among justice-involved populations, who frequently demonstrated challenges with emotional regulation, impulse control, aggression, and behavioral escalation. However, many correctional interventions, including traditional anger management programming, emphasized behavioral compliance rather than the underlying emotional processing deficiencies that contributed to these behaviors. This project synthesized existing peer-reviewed literature from psychology, criminology, forensic behavioral health, and correctional rehabilitation research to examine how low levels of emotional awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and interpersonal functioning are associated with aggression, recidivism, and escalating behaviors. Mental health courts (MHCs) represent a critical diversion mechanism for justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), yet substantial variability in eligibility criteria, assessment practices, and program structure limits our understanding of how court-level policies shape participant access and outcomes. This exploratory study provides the first systematic cross-borough comparison of all five New York City MHCs, achieving a 100% response rate across courts. Using an adapted version of a statewide MHC survey instrument, data were collected from court representatives via structured survey administration and supplemental interviews. This study conducts a spatial analysis of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) drug seizure activity in relation to major transportation entry points and county-level social vulnerability. Using ArcGIS Pro, drug seizure data are mapped by CBP Field Office and overlaid with key infrastructure layers, including land ports of entry, international airports, seaports, and interstate highway corridors. This study examines how routine digital media use shapes public blame attribution and prevention preferences following K-12 school shootings. Drawing on Mean World Syndrome (MWS) and research on doomscrolling, the study investigates whether habitual exposure to threatening and sensationalized content is associated with patterns of digital engagement and interpretations of responsibility for school shooting events. Using a nationwide survey of U.S. adults (N = 540), the study measured MWS, doomscrolling tendencies, political orientation, blame attribution, and engagement behaviors such as seeking information, sharing, and commenting on school violence–related content. Forensic examinations of discharged projectiles are made possible by the toolmarks and striations made by the barrel the projectiles pass through. Suspect barrels are attached to firearms and test fired to compare these toolmarks and striations with found evidence. However, physically damaged barrels could potentially be unable to produce exemplars. This study tests the viability of manually passing projectiles through stationary barrels as a meaningful and accurate means to produce acceptable exemplars that are able to be compared against recovered evidence. Demographic factors can influence homicide solvability. This study examines the relationship between victim characteristics and homicide clearance rates in Tennessee from 2001 to 2023. Using an intersectional approach, it assesses whether victim characteristics both individually and in combination are related to case solvability. Variables of interest include: (1) victim race, age range, and sex; (2) year the case was reported; (3) crime type; (4) whether the case was cleared; and (5) the circumstances leading to clearance. A total of 11,534 homicide cases from the Tennessee Incident-Based Reporting System were analyzed.

Emerging criminological research underscores how the economic drivers of trafficking for sexual exploitation reinforce organised criminal markets while reproducing the structural vulnerabilities of those in prostitution. Using South Africa as a case study, this article argues that evidence-based legislative reform is necessary to confront the systemic conditions that enable exploitation. It contends that achieving substantive equality requires recognising the criminogenic role of sex‑buyer demand in sustaining trafficking pipelines and criminal profitability. The Swedish/Nordic demand‑reduction model illustrates how asymmetrical criminalisation can suppress demand, reduce reliance on trafficked persons, and diminish the financial incentives that underpin organised crime. The accelerating militarization of artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed the ethics, politics, and governance of warfare. This article interrogates how AI-driven targeting systems function as epistemic infrastructures that classify, legitimize, and execute violence, using Israel’s conduct in Gaza as a paradigmatic case. Building on interdisciplinary debates in security studies, critical technology studies, and international law, the paper advances the concept of "genocide by algorithm"—a mode of technologically mediated extermination in which opaque computational systems automate and rationalize mass violence. This article presents the first comprehensive empirical analysis of India’s Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), since its establishment in 2020, based on an examination of 165 orders across 118 cases through 2025. The study fills a critical research gap by systematically analysing CCPA’s enforcement patterns, procedural efficiency, and regulatory evolution. The unique dataset reveals that CCPA has fundamentally transformed India’s consumer protection landscape through a distinctive dual approach that combines reactive enforcement with proactive regulation. William Howard Taft’s early judicial career has been dismissed by historians and biographers for nearly a century as merely an unimportant preliminary phase before his later political and Supreme Court career. This dissertation challenges that interpretation through a detailed examination of forty-six labor and antitrust-related opinions written by Taft while serving on the Superior Court of Cincinnati and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Guided by Becker’s side-bet theory, this study examines turnover intentions among officers in the New York City Police Department by assessing pension investment and affective commitment as accumulated organizational “side bets,” alongside job satisfaction, perceived organizational support, and workplace conditions. Data was drawn from an online survey of 1,454 officers. Population weights based on gender, race/ethnicity, and rank were applied to improve representativeness. Weighted multinomial logistic regression models examined predictors of turnover intention, while second-difference tests of average marginal effects (AMEs) assessed whether workplace factors operated differently across tenure groups. บทความวิจัยนี้มุ่งศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างหลักกฎหมายว่าด้วยหนี้ตามประมวลกฎหมายแพ่งและพาณิชย์ กับหลักเกณฑ์การเสนอคดีตามประมวลกฎหมายวิธีพิจารณาความแพ่ง อันเป็นกลไกสำคัญในการบังคับใช้สิทธิของเจ้าหนี้ในทางปฏิบัติ เนื่องจาก “หนี้” เป็นบุคคลสิทธิ เจ้าหนี้จึงไม่อาจบังคับชำระหนี้ได้ด้วยตนเอง แต่ต้องเสนอคดีต่อศาลเพื่อบังคับให้ชำระหนี้ การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงหลักกฎหมาย (Doctrinal Legal Research) โดยวิเคราะห์ประเด็นสำคัญเกี่ยวกับหนี้ 7 ประการ ได้แก่ การบอกกล่าวลูกหนี้กับอำนาจฟ้อง การบังคับชำระหนี้ การเรียกดอกเบี้ยกรณีลูกหนี้ผิดนัด การใช้สิทธิเรียกร้องของลูกหนี้ การโอนสิทธิเรียกร้อง การเพิกถอนการฉ้อฉล และอายุความบังคับจำนอง ทั้งนี้ ผู้วิจัยได้จำแนกบทบัญญัติว่าด้วยหนี้ออกเป็น 3 ประเภท ได้แก่ (1) บทบัญญัติที่มีเนื้อหาไม่ครอบคลุมเกี่ยวกับการเสนอคดี (2) บทบัญญัติที่กำหนดวิธีไว้แต่ไม่ครบถ้วนหรือมีปัญหาในการตีความ และ (3) บทบัญญัติที่ไม่สอดคล้องกับกฎหมายวิธีพิจารณาความแพ่ง แล้วนำมาวิเคราะห์เชื่อมโยงกับบทบัญญัติในประมวลกฎหมายวิธีพิจารณาความแพ่ง รวมถึงศึกษาจากตำราและแนวคำพิพากษาศาลฎีกา ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การบังคับใช้กฎหมายว่าด้วยหนี้ให้มีประสิทธิภาพ จำเป็นต้องตีความและบังคับใช้สอดคล้องกับกฎหมายวิธีพิจารณาความแพ่ง ซึ่งผลลัพธ์ของงานวิจัยนี้จะช่วยลดปัญหาทางปฏิบัติและเสริมสร้างความเข้าใจที่ถูกต้องแก่ผู้ศึกษากฎหมายและผู้ปฏิบัติงานในคดีแพ่ง

This fact sheet presents data from the Prison Policy Initiative briefing on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrest data for the five Mountain West states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah from January to October of 2025.  This fact sheet reports the number of ICE arrests by location and arrest rates per 100,000 residents in each Mountain West state.
