This workshop introduces the cataloging of streaming media using RDA standards and the MARC21 format. The workshop focuses on challenges and different aspects of streaming video and audio, filmed and recorded originally in languages spoken in the Middle East. It is recommended that attendees have a basic knowledge of cataloging using the MARC21 format.

This introductory level presentation discusses the basics of digitizing
collections from start to finish. The author reveals some secrets as well as
tips and tricks for achieving efficiency and sustainability of digital
projects. All libraries have unique collections that deserve to gain more

This presentation discusses how UNLV is providing access to primary
sources that would otherwise remain in the hands of private individuals.
Through their innovative “scan and return” process, UNLV is borrowing
important historical documents, digitizing them, and then returning the
originals to the owners. The digital surrogates become available through
UNLV’s Digital Collections.

The premise of garnering scholarly and local collection materials is to engage them for visibility and accessibility. As an additional tool to assist in the process of creating an infrastructure for reachable content, the WorldCat Digital Collection Gateway tool enables academic libraries to target individual repository collections to minimally harvest the metadata and be visible through WorldCat.org and OAIster. The idea of a Journal of Western Archives began in the early 2000s after plans were being made for a super regional meeting in Las Vegas, NV. It was during this collaborative time that University Archivists Gordon Daines proposed an idea to then Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists President John Murphy. Gordon wanted to establish a journal that would be for archivists working in the western United States. He noticed that as a researcher himself at BYU that archivists in the western United States didn’t publish as much as archivists in the eastern United States.

This poster highlights the Nevada Test Site Oral History Project (NTSOHP); a digitization collaboration dedicated to documenting, preserving, and disseminating the stories of persons affiliated with and impacted by forty years of U.S. Cold War nuclear weapons testing.

The project is a partnership between the UNLV University Libraries, the director of the NTSOHP, campus, and community partners to create an online, fully searchable, digital re-search collection from the collected oral history research.
