Background: The physicochemical characterisation of homoeopathic medicines remains a challenge. Raman spectroscopy is a promising tool for identifying structural modifications in the solvent matrix and specific vibrational ``fingerprints'' induced by the potentisation process. Objective: This study aimed to characterise three remedies (Nux vomica, Thuja occidentalis, and Nitricum acidum - 5C potencies) using Raman spectroscopy to identify specific vibrational markers and evaluate the technique's ability to differentiate between different preparations within a complex matrix. Materials and methods: The drugs were analysed as crushed granules (solid state) and after dissolution in betamethasone disodium phosphate (liquid state). Raman spectroscopy was …

Analysis Of The Influence Of Anthropometric Dimensions Of Postural Ergonomics Using Multiple Linear Regression, Gashbeen Faisal Najmaddin, Edrees Muhammed Tahir Harki
Al-Bahir
Ergonomics is the study of designing and arranging a workspace or product to optimize the “fit” between people and their work, ensuring safety, comfort, and efficiency. The scientific literature indicates that ergonomic perspectives on the workplace are connected to the anthropometrics of societies. This study primarily aims to create a model that integrates multiple predictive variables to estimate the target variable. Multiple linear regression analysis is used to identify how different anthropometric dimensions predict postural ergonomics during prolonged sitting. Based on the regression models’ results, the predicted can be calculated using user anthropometry and existing chair dimensions. Furthermore, the primary …

From Vibration To Visualization: Building An Real-Time Audio Visualization System For Learning And Exploration Using Pyqt5, Aidan Roach
The Transdisciplinary STEAM+ Journal
This paper presents the design, development, and analysis of my real-time audio visualization system created entirely in Python using PyQt5, called WaveCatcher. The system captures live audio input from a microphone and provides simultaneous visual feedback through multiple signal representations: including a time-domain waveform, a frequency-domain FFT spectrum, a scrolling spectrogram, harmonic peak visualization, dynamic range, amplitude envelope, spectral centroid, and spectral bandwidth. These features offer insight not just into the raw structure of sound, but into how humans perceive its qualities–like timbre! This terminology may seem intimidating—it certainly was when I first began learning it—but I’ll explain all of …

TiO₂ is a semiconductor with a wide band gap and is utilized in various applications, including photovoltaics, solar cells, and photocatalysis. In this work, TiO₂ thin films were fabricated using the doctor blade technique and deposited onto glass substrates. The purpose of the study was to investigate how beta irradiation affected the optical properties of the TiO₂ films. The produced samples' absorbance and photon energy were the main subjects of the measurements. While the samples exposed to beta rays for 30, 60, and 90 minutes had direct band gaps of 3.87 eV, 3.75 eV, and 3.66 eV, …
Euler’S Original Derivation Of Elastica Equation, Shigeki Matsutani
Euler’S Original Derivation Of Elastica Equation, Shigeki Matsutani
Euleriana
Euler derived the differential equations of elastica by the variational method in 1744, but his original derivation has never been properly interpreted or explained in terms of modern mathematics. We elaborate Euler's original derivation of elastica and show that Euler used Noether's theorem concerning the translational symmetry of elastica, although Noether published her theorem in 1918. It is also shown that his equation is essentially the static modified KdV equation which is obtained by the isometric and isoenergy conditions, known as the Goldstein-Petrich scheme.

Thin films of zinc oxide (ZnO) and niobium (Nb)-doped ZnO were deposited on a glass substrate using the sol–gel spin coating method. Diethanolamine, isopropyl alcohol, and zinc acetate served as the stabilizers, solvent, and starting ma-terial, respectively. Niobium pentachloride was employed as the dopant source. Energy-dispersive X-ray analysis con-firmed Nb incorporation. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and ultravio-let–visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis) analyses characterized the morphology, structure, and optics of the films, respective-ly. Both films, comprising nanoparticles, were visible in FESEM. Nb doping reduced the particle size from 44.2 nm to 35.8 nm. The XRD peaks at 31.23°, …
Gravity Tunnel Dynamics At Non-Zero Tunnel Diameters, Shafat Mubin, Walker T. Hayes
Gravity Tunnel Dynamics At Non-Zero Tunnel Diameters, Shafat Mubin, Walker T. Hayes
Georgia Journal of Science
A standard exercise in undergraduate mechanics derives the trajectory of a particle that has been dropped through a gravity tunnel passing through the center of the Earth as simple harmonic oscillation, assuming uniform earth density and negligible tunnel radius. We show that when the more accurate Preliminary Reference Earth Model (PREM) density profile and non-negligible tunnel radii are taken into consideration, significant deviations from harmonic oscillation are observed along with increasing or decreasing average particle speeds. Furthermore, we report that a particle traveling along a diameter perpendicular to the axis of the gravity tunnel is unable to reach the center …

Synchronicity: An Analysis Of Einstein's Halfway Rule, Preslava Nikolova
Rushton Journal of Undergraduate Humanities Research
For the modern world to function, Global Positioning System satellites must synchronize to clocks on Earth. This paper examines a concept that underlies GPS systems, namely Albert Einstein’s halfway rule—the idea that a line of simultaneity exists between two events in different systems. This essay discusses how Einstein used conventionalist methods to establish ½ as a constant value for σ to take advantage of the property of symmetry.

Georgia Journal of Science
For the first time, the novel application of Schiff-base copper complexes in all-inorganic perovskite CsBrBr3 solar cells has been explored and turns out they could be utilized as effective hole-transporting materials. Schiff-base copper complexes with halogen ligands (R=Cl and Br) are synthesized with an ease approach at a low cost, both of which exhibit decent power conversion efficiency of 4.55% and 5.71%, respectively, when being constructed into solar devices as hole transport layers. Thanks to high thermal/chemical stability of those Schiff-base metal complexes, the strengthened stability was achieved which is comparable to that of carbon-based CsBrBr3 solar cells. …
Optimization Of A Ball's Launch In Sports, Andrew C. Smith, Javier E. Hasbun
Optimization Of A Ball's Launch In Sports, Andrew C. Smith, Javier E. Hasbun
Georgia Journal of Science
Newton's laws are used to study the effects of air resistance on an object's motion. In ball-related sports such as baseball, soccer, etc., understanding the effects of air resistance is essential to optimize ball launch performance. This performance optimization can be studied by identifying the minimal time it takes for a ball with speed to travel a certain distance. We work with two models that apply to an object's motion. One of the models assumes a linear air drag while a second model makes use of a quadratic air drag. We do investigate known differential equations for when the Magnus …

Carbon dioxide (CO2)-induced corrosion often occurs in the structural materials of geothermal industry. The presence of CO2 influences the formation of various corrosion products. This research investigates the effect of dissolved CO2 in acidic brines on the corrosion behavior of AISI 4140 steel at atmospheric pressure. The brines were the standard brine, Ca-free brine, and high-salinity brine. The corrosion behavior was studied using electrochemical and immersion tests. A cyclic polarization test showed that the corrosion rate was higher in dissolved CO2 brine than in non-CO2 brine, and an immersion test demonstrated a similar result. …

Al-Bahir
ZnO has a resistivity of up to 104 Ω cm-1 in most cases. Nevertheless, by increasing the layer thickness, the resistivity decreases as well, resulting in greater current transport. The dip coating system was developed to prepare the ultra-thin film, it relied on a controller, stepper motor and some low-cost recycled materials. Thin films of ZnO were successfully deposited on indium tin oxide substrates. The effects of the dipping cycles were investigated. Dipping processes were applied several times (1, 2, and 3) for the same concentrations (0.1) M to obtain homogeneous thin films. X-ray diffraction showed that the structure of …

Classification Of Pixel Tracks To Improve Track Reconstruction From Proton-Proton Collisions, Kebur Fantahun, Jobin Joseph, Halle Purdom, Nibhrat Lohia
SMU Data Science Review
In this paper, machine learning techniques are used to reconstruct particle collision pathways. CERN (Conseil européen pour la recherche nucléaire) uses a massive underground particle collider, called the Large Hadron Collider or LHC, to produce particle collisions at extremely high speeds. There are several layers of detectors in the collider that track the pathways of particles as they collide. The data produced from collisions contains an extraneous amount of background noise, i.e., decays from known particle collisions produce fake signal. Particularly, in the first layer of the detector, the pixel tracker, there is an overwhelming amount of background noise that …

The semiconductor perovskite CsPbBr2I was doped with Mn2+ to modulate its optical and photovoltaic performance. The Mn2+-doped CsPb0.9Mn0.1Br2I exhibited improved crystalline quality. Ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy of Mn2+-doped CsPb0.9Mn0.1Br2I revealed enhanced absorption capacity. Although the efficiency was not as good as desired, the enhanced light absorption of CsPb0.9Mn0.1Br2I still boosted the photovoltaic performance when it was utilized as a light absorber in perovskite solar cells, along with a low-cost carbon electrode. Compared with its counterpart …

PANDION: The Osprey Journal of Research and Ideas
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans can utilize a radioactive tracer, in this case 2-deoxy2-[fluorine-18] fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG), to visualize malignant tumors in cancer patients. The uptake was compared to glucose to understand the difference in thermal properties, which contribute to the ability to image the cancerous cells. The uptake of 18F-FDG by cancer cells and the imaging process of positron emission tomography were reviewed from a thermodynamic perspective. Gastrointestinal and neurological imaging techniques were reviewed to understand the role of PET imaging in different areas of the human body.

Using Methanol Masers To Probe High Mass Star Forming Regions, Naomi S. Shechter, Anuj P. Sarma
DePaul Discoveries
Compared to low mass stars, the formation of high mass stars is not well understood. To understand better how high mass stars form, we can utilize masers, naturally amplified point sources of microwave radiation. One example is the methanol maser, which falls into two categories. Class I methanol masers form in the bipolar outflows from the protostar, and Class II masers form in the accretion disk. Their compact size and intensity make them an excellent source of information about the process of high mass star formation. We compiled a modest database of Class I and II methanol masers through a …
Double And Triple Bouncing Spinning Soccer Ball, Shafat A. Mubin
Double And Triple Bouncing Spinning Soccer Ball, Shafat A. Mubin
Georgia Journal of Science
The trajectories of soccer ball penalty kicks that strike one of the goal-posts while rolling along the surface are simulated and analyzed using conservation of linear and angular momenta. The reflected trajectories upon collisions with the goalpost are calculated and used to determine whether double or triple bounces take place. The analysis is iterated for a range of initial launch speeds, angular velocities, and normal and tangential coefficients of restitution of the goalpost-ball collisions. It is observed that double bounces can take place for almost any combination of the above parameters if the soccer ball strikes the appropriate narrow sectors …
The Effects Of Water Ice Sublimation On Slope Failures Of Icy Regolith, Christopher Cox, Madison Weinberg, Trisha Joseph
The Effects Of Water Ice Sublimation On Slope Failures Of Icy Regolith, Christopher Cox, Madison Weinberg, Trisha Joseph
The Pegasus Review: UCF Undergraduate Research Journal
The frost line in a planetary system represents the distance from the central star inside of which conditions are too warm for ice to form, while beyond this line it will be stable. When an icy object passes that line heading toward the Sun it will begin to sublimate and outgas, potentially causing mass loss and surface changes. One example is surface failures, which can lead to material being removed from the object. Evidence of this has been seen on cometary surfaces, where surfaces often show structures that appear to have suffered various mechanical failures like cracking and landslides. By …

Modeling Gyrating Motion Using Mathematica, Jonathan Alvarado-Gomez
Macalester Journal of Physics and Astronomy
In this report I will describe a method of creating animations of gyrating objects in Mathematica [4]. There are 4 inputs to a function called trajectory, which are a time step, maximum time duration, initial force vector, and a 3x3 matrix that represents a tensor for the gyration of the object. I utilized the computer program Mathematica [4] to create 3D images of a gyrating object in the object frame of view. A collection of these images were put together in order to make an animation, which can be used as a tool for future researchers to investigate interesting paths …
Erratum: A Non-Linear Approximate Solution To The Damped Pendulum Derived Using The Method Of Successive Approximations [Georgia Journal Of Science, Vol. 76, No. 2, Article 9], Javier E. Hasbun
Georgia Journal of Science
In an earlier publication [Hill and Hasbun, 2018] considered an approximate solution to the damped pendulum, named the improved modified method of successive approximations (IMMSA), and compared it to an approximation from the work of [Johannessen, 2014]. Here, a correction is made to that comparison due to an error made in calculating Johannessen's approximation.
