On The Complexity Of Computing Galois Groups Of Differential Equations, Mengxiao Sun
On The Complexity Of Computing Galois Groups Of Differential Equations, Mengxiao Sun
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
The differential Galois group is an analogue for a linear differential equation of the classical Galois group for a polynomial equation. An important application of the differential Galois group is that a linear differential equation can be solved by integrals, exponentials and algebraic functions if and only if the connected component of its differential Galois group is solvable. Computing the differential Galois groups would help us determine the existence of the solutions expressed in terms of elementary functions (integrals, exponentials and algebraic functions) and understand the algebraic relations among the solutions.
Hrushovski first proposed an algorithm for computing the differential …
Galois Groups Of Differential Equations And Representing Algebraic Sets, Eli Amzallag
Galois Groups Of Differential Equations And Representing Algebraic Sets, Eli Amzallag
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
The algebraic framework for capturing properties of solution sets of differential equations was formally introduced by Ritt and Kolchin. As a parallel to the classical Galois groups of polynomial equations, they devised the notion of a differential Galois group for a linear differential equation. Just as solvability of a polynomial equation by radicals is linked to the equation’s Galois group, so too is the ability to express the solution to a linear differential equation in "closed form" linked to the equation’s differential Galois group. It is thus useful even outside of mathematics to be able to compute and represent these …
Equations Of Multi-Rees Algebras, Babak Jabbar Nezhad
Equations Of Multi-Rees Algebras, Babak Jabbar Nezhad
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
In this thesis we describe the defining equations of certain multi-Rees algebras. First, we determine the defining equations of the multi-Rees algebra $R[I^{a_1}t_1,\dots,I^{a_r}t_r]$ over a Noetherian ring $R$ when $I$ is an ideal of linear type. This generalizes a result of Ribbe and recent work of Lin-Polini and Sosa. Second, we describe the equations defining the multi-Rees algebra $R[I_1^{a_1}t_1,\dots,I_r^{a_r}t_r]$, where $R$ is a Noetherian ring containing a field and the ideals are generated by a subset of a fixed regular sequence.

Branching Matrices For The Automorphism Group Lattice Of A Riemann Surface, Sean A. Broughton
Branching Matrices For The Automorphism Group Lattice Of A Riemann Surface, Sean A. Broughton
Mathematical Sciences Technical Reports (MSTR)
Let S be a Riemann surface and G a large subgroup of Aut(S) (Aut(S) may be unknown). We are particularly interested in regular n-gonal surfaces, i.e., the quotient surface S/G (and hence S/Aut(S)) has genus zero. For various H the ramification information of the branched coverings S/K -> S/H may be captured in a matrix. The ramification information, in particular strong branching, may be then be used in analyzing the structure of Aut(S). The ramification information is conjugation invariant so the matrix's rows and columns may be indexed by conjugacy classes of subgroups. The only required …

Subset Vertex Graphs For Social Networks, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
In this book authors for the first time introduce the notion of subset vertex graph using the vertex set as the subset of the power set P(S), S is assumed in this book to be finite; however it can be finite or infinite. We have defined two types of subset vertex graphs, one is directed and the other one is not directed. The most important fact which must be kept in record is that for a given set of vertices there exists one and only one subset vertex graph be it of type I or type II. Several important and …

On Representations Of The Jacobi Group And Differential Equations, Benjamin Webster
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
In PDEs with nontrivial Lie symmetry algebras, the Lie symmetry naturally yield Fourier and Laplace transforms of fundamental solutions. Applying this fact we discuss the semidirect product of the metaplectic group and the Heisenberg group, then induce a representation our group and use it to investigate the invariant solutions of a general differential equation of the form .
A Journey To The Adic World, Fayadh Kadhem
A Journey To The Adic World, Fayadh Kadhem
College of Graduate Studies: Theses & Dissertations
The first idea of this research was to study a topic that is related to both Algebra and Topology and explore a tool that connects them together. That was the entrance for me to the “adic world”. What was needed were some important concepts from Algebra and Topology, and so they are treated in the first two chapters.
The reader is assumed to be familiar with Abstract Algebra and Topology, especially with Ring theory and basics of Point-set Topology.
The thesis consists of a motivation and four chapters, the third and the fourth being the main ones. In the third …

Ideal Containments Under Flat Extensions And Interpolation On Linear Systems In P2, Solomon Akesseh
Department of Mathematics: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
Fat points and their ideals have stimulated a lot of research but this dissertation concerns itself with aspects of only two of them, broadly categorized here as, the ideal containments and polynomial interpolation problems.
Ein-Lazarsfeld-Smith and Hochster-Huneke cumulatively showed that for all ideals I in k[Pn], I(mn) ⊆ Im for all m ∈ N. Over the projective plane, we obtain I(4)< ⊆ I2. Huneke asked whether it was the case that I(3) ⊆ I2. Dumnicki, Szemberg and Tutaj-Gasinska show that if I is the saturated homogeneous radical ideal of the 12 …

On (Semi)Topological Bcc-Algebras, F. R. Setudeh, N. Kouhestani
Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)
In this paper, we introduce the notion of (semi)topological BCC-algebras and derive here conditions that imply a BCC-algebra to be a (semi)topological BCC-algebra. We prove that for each cardinal number α there is at least a (semi)topological BCC-algebra of order α: Also we study separation axioms on (semi)topological BCC-algebras and show that for any infinite cardinal number α there is a Hausdorff (semi)topological BCC-algebra of order α with nontrivial topology.

Beurling-Lax Type Theorems In The Complex And Quaternionic Setting, Daniel Alpay, Irene Sabadini
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
We give a generalization of the Beurling–Lax theorem both in the complex and quaternionic settings. We consider in the first case functions meromorphic in the right complex half-plane, and functions slice hypermeromorphic in the right quaternionic half-space in the second case. In both settings we also discuss a unified framework, which includes both the disk and the half-plane for the complex case and the open unit ball and the half-space in the quaternionic setting.

The innovative notion of neutrosophic triplet groups, introduced by Smarandache and Ali in 2014-2016, happens to yield the anti-element and neutral element once the element is given. It is established that the neutrosophic triplet group collection forms the classical group under product for Zn, for some specific n. However the collection is not even closed under sum. These neutrosophic triplet groups are built using only modulo integers or Cayley tables. Several interesting properties related with them are defined. It is pertinent to record that in Zn, when n is a prime number, we cannot get a neutral element which can …
Topological And Hq Equivalence Of Prime Cyclic P-Gonal Actions On Riemann Surfaces (Corrected), Sean A. Broughton
Topological And Hq Equivalence Of Prime Cyclic P-Gonal Actions On Riemann Surfaces (Corrected), Sean A. Broughton
Mathematical Sciences Technical Reports (MSTR)
Two Riemann surfaces S1 and S2 with conformal G-actions have topologically equivalent actions if there is a homeomorphism h : S1 -> S2 which intertwines the actions. A weaker equivalence may be defined by comparing the representations of G on the spaces of holomorphic q-differentials Hq(S1) and Hq(S2). In this note we study the differences between topological equivalence and Hq equivalence of prime cyclic actions, where S1/G and S2/G have genus zero.
Convexity Of Neural Codes, Robert Amzi Jeffs
Convexity Of Neural Codes, Robert Amzi Jeffs
HMC Senior Theses
An important task in neuroscience is stimulus reconstruction: given activity in the brain, what stimulus could have caused it? We build on previous literature which uses neural codes to approach this problem mathematically. A neural code is a collection of binary vectors that record concurrent firing of neurons in the brain. We consider neural codes arising from place cells, which are neurons that track an animal's position in space. We examine algebraic objects associated to neural codes, and completely characterize a certain class of maps between these objects. Furthermore, we show that such maps have natural geometric implications related to …

In this book authors for the first time introduce a special type of fixed points using MOD square matrix operators. These special type of fixed points are different from the usual classical fixed points. A study of this is carried out in this book. Several interesting properties are developed in this regard. The notion of these fixed points find many applications in the mathematical models which are dealt systematically by the authors in the forth coming books. These special type of fixed points or special realized limit cycles are always guaranteed as we use only MOD matrices as operators with …
