This talk concerns computation by systems whose components exhibit noise (that is, errors committed at random according to certain probabilistic laws). If we aspire to construct a theory of computation in the presence of noise, we must possess at the outset a satisfactory theory of computation in the absence of noise.
A theory that has received considerable attention in this context is that of the computation of Boolean functions by networks (with perhaps the strongest competition coming from the theory of cellular automata; see [G] and [GR]). The use of inspection gained importance when people started getting conscious of maintaining the quality of manufactured product. According to Anscombe (1958) inspection for quality in the form of acceptance sampling plans originated around 1920. The classical work of Dodge and Romig (1929) put acceptance sampling on a firm footing. The Bayesian approach to probability and statistics is described, a brief history of Bayesianism is related, differences between Bayesian and Frequentist schools of statistics are defined, protential applications are investigated, and a literature survey is presented in the form of a machine-sort card file.
Bayesian thought is increasing in favor among statisticians because of its ability to attack problems that are unassailable from the Frequentist approach. The work Presented here had originated from a pioneering paper by Basu1 and is essentially an extension of his ideas to different problem in sample surveys. The whole word mainly consists in deriving estimators uniformly better than those usually adopted in with replacement schemes.in with replacement sampling schemes, the 'order-statistic' (distinct sample unite arranged in an ascending order of their unit-indices) forms a sufficient statistic. Therefore, if any estimator (e.g., say of the population man) does not depend on the 'order-statistic', it can be uniformly improved by the use of the Rao-blalckwell theorem.
