Equi-Statistical Extension Of The Korovkin Type Approximation Theorem, Sevda Karakuş, Kami̇l Demi̇rci̇
Equi-Statistical Extension Of The Korovkin Type Approximation Theorem, Sevda Karakuş, Kami̇l Demi̇rci̇
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper using equi-statistical convergence, which is stronger than the usual uniform convergence and statistical uniform convergence, we obtain a general Korovkin type theorem. Then, we construct examples such that our new approximation result works but its classical and statistical cases do not work.
A New Approach On Constant Angle Surfaces In E^3, Marian Ioan Munteanu, Ana Irina Nistor
A New Approach On Constant Angle Surfaces In E^3, Marian Ioan Munteanu, Ana Irina Nistor
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper we study constant angle surfaces in Euclidean 3--space. Even that the result is a consequence of some classical results involving the Gauss map (of the surface), we give another approach to classify all surfaces for which the unit normal makes a constant angle with a fixed direction.

Local Fourier Bases And Ultramodulation Spaces, Salti Samarah, Fady Hasan
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
It was proved that local Fourier bases are unconditional bases for modulation spaces M_{p.q}^w. We prove that the local Fourier bases are unconditional bases for ultramodulation spaces M_p^{w_{\gamma}}=M_{p.p}^{w_{\gamma}}, where 0
Some Properties Of Gr-Multiplication Ideals, Hani Khashan
Some Properties Of Gr-Multiplication Ideals, Hani Khashan
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we study some of the properties of gr-multiplication ideals in a graded ring R. We first characterize finitely generated gr-multiplication ideals and then give a characterization of gr-multiplication ideals by using the gr-localization of R. Finally we determine the set of gr-P-primary ideals of R when P is a gr-multiplication gr-prime ideal of R.

Strong Differential Subordination, Georgia Irina Oros, Gheorghe Oros
Strong Differential Subordination, Georgia Irina Oros, Gheorghe Oros
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The concept of differential subordination was introduced in [4] by S. S. Miller and P. T. Mocanu and the concept of strong differential subordination was introduced in [1] by J. A. Antonino and S. Romaguera. This last concept was applied in the special case of Briot-Bouquet strong differential subordination. In this paper we study the strong differential subordinations in the general case, following the general theory of differential subordinations presented in [4].
On The Geometry Of Null Curves In The Minkowski 4-Space, Recep Aslaner, A. İhsan Boran
On The Geometry Of Null Curves In The Minkowski 4-Space, Recep Aslaner, A. İhsan Boran
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we study the basic results on the general study of null curves in the Minkowski 4-space R_1^4. A transversal vector bundle of a null curve in R_1^4 is constructed using a frenet Frame consisting of two real null and two space-like vectors. The null curves are characterized by using the Frenet frame.
Approximation By Certain Linear Operators Preserving X^2, Lucyna Rempulska, Karolina Tomczak
Approximation By Certain Linear Operators Preserving X^2, Lucyna Rempulska, Karolina Tomczak
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We investigate certain positive linear operators L_n preserving the functions e_k (x)=x^k, k=0, 1, and modified operators L_n^* which preserve e_0 and e_2. We show that the error of approximation of f by L_n^* (f) is smaller than for L_n(f).
Integral And Homothetic Indecomposability With Applications To Irreducibility Of Polynomials, Fati̇h Koyuncu, Ferruh Özbudak
Integral And Homothetic Indecomposability With Applications To Irreducibility Of Polynomials, Fati̇h Koyuncu, Ferruh Özbudak
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Being motivated by some methods for construction of homothetically indecomposable polytopes, we obtain new methods for construction of families of integrally indecomposable polytopes. As a result, we find new infinite families of absolutely irreducible multivariate polynomials over any field F. Moreover, we provide different proofs of some of the main results of Gao [2].

Partial Open Book Decompositions And The Contact Class In Sutured Floer Homology, Tolga Etgü, Burak Özbağci
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We demonstrate how to combinatorially calculate the EH-class of a compatible contact structure in the sutured Floer homology group of a balanced sutured three manifold which is associated to an abstract partial open book decomposition. As an application we show that every contact three manifold (closed or with convex boundary) can be obtained by gluing tight contact handlebodies whose EH-classes are nontrivial.

C1 Modules With Respect To A Hereditary Torsion Theory, Tahi̇re Özen
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
An R-module M is said to be a C1-module if every closed submodule of M is a direct summand. In this paper we introduce and investigate the concept of the \tau-C1 module for a hereditary torsion theory \tau on Mod-R. \tau-C1 modules are a generalization of C1-modules.
Uniqueness For Meromorphic Functions And Differential Polynomials, Chao Meng
Uniqueness For Meromorphic Functions And Differential Polynomials, Chao Meng
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this article, we deal with the uniqueness problems on meromorphic functions concerning differential polynomials and prove the following result: Let f and g be two transcendental meromorphic functions, \alpha be a meromorphic function such that T(r,\alpha)=o(T(r,f)+T(r,g)) and \alpha \not\equiv 0,\infty. Let a be a nonzero constant. Suppose that m,n are positive integers such that n>m+10. If \Psi_f' and \Psi_g' share ``(0,2)", then (i) if m\geq 2, then f(z)\equiv g(z); (ii) if m=1, either f(z)\equiv g(z) or f and g satisfy the algebraic equation R(f,g)\equiv 0, where R(\varpi_1,\varpi_2)=(n+1)(\varpi_1^{n+2}-\varpi_2^{n+2})-(n+2)(\varpi_1^{n+1} -\varpi_2^{n+1}). The results in this paper improve the results of Xiong-Lin-Mori …

A Perturbation Of M-Order Derivations On Banach Algebras, Yong-Soo Jung, Kyoo-Hong Park
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Let \A be a unital Banach algebra and let m, 1 \leq m \leq 4, be an integer. If f: \A \to \A is an approximate m-order derivation in the sense of Hyers-Ulam-Rassias, then f: \A \to \A is an exact m-order derivation.

Intrinsic Equations For A Generalized Relaxed Elastic Line On An Oriented Surface In The Minkowski 3-Space E_1^3, Cumali̇ Eki̇ci̇, Ali̇ Görgülü
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
H. K. Nickerson and Gerald S. Manning [8] derived the intrinsic equations for a relaxed elastic line on an oriented surface in the Euclidean 3-dimensional space E^3. In this paper, we define a generalized relaxed elastic line and derive the intrinsic equations for a generalized of relaxed elastic line on an oriented surface in the Minkowski 3-dimensional space E_1^3 and give some applications of the result.

A Comparison Of Methods For Generating Bivariate Non-Normally Distributed Random Variables, Jaimee E. Stewart
A Comparison Of Methods For Generating Bivariate Non-Normally Distributed Random Variables, Jaimee E. Stewart
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Many distributions of multivariate data in the real world follow a non-normal model with distributions being skewed and/or heavy tailed. In studies in which multivariate non-normal distributions are needed, it is important for simulations of those variables to provide data that is close to the desired parameters while also being fast and easy to perform. Three algorithms for generating multivariate non-normal distributions are reviewed for accuracy, speed and simplicity. They are the Fleishman Power Method, the Fifth-Order Polynomial Transformation Method, and the Generalized Lambda Distribution Method. Simulations were run in order to compare the three methods by how well they …
On The Dynamics Of Quasi-Self-Matings Of Generalized Starlike Complex Quadratics And The Structure Of The Mated Julia Sets, Ross Flek
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
It has been shown that, in many cases, Julia sets of complex polynomials can be "glued" together to obtain a new Julia set homeomorphic to a Julia set of a rational map; the dynamics of the two polynomials are reflected in the dynamics of the mated rational map. Here, I investigate the Julia sets of self-matings of generalized starlike quadratic polynomials, which enjoy relatively simple combinatorics. The points in the Julia sets of the mated rational maps are completely classified according to their topology. The presence and location of buried points in these Julia sets are addressed. The interconnections between …

The Geometry Of The Space Of Oriented Geodesics Of Hyperbolic 3-Space, Nikos Georgiou
The Geometry Of The Space Of Oriented Geodesics Of Hyperbolic 3-Space, Nikos Georgiou
Theses
In this thesis we construct a Kähler structure (J, Ω, G) on the space L(H3) of oriented geodesics of hyperbolic 3-space H3 and investigate its properties. We prove that (L(H3),J) is biholomorphic to (see thesis pdf), and that the Kähler metric G is of neutral signature, conformally flat and scalar flat.
We establish that the identity component of the isometry group of the metric G on L(H3) is isomorphic to the identity component of the hyperbolic isometry group. We show that the geodesics of G correspond to ruled minimal surfaces in H3, which …
Compartmentalized Approach To The Assembly Of Physical Maps, Serdar Bozdag, Timothy J. Close, Stefano Lonardi
Compartmentalized Approach To The Assembly Of Physical Maps, Serdar Bozdag, Timothy J. Close, Stefano Lonardi
Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Faculty Research and Publications
Background
Physical maps have been historically one of the cornerstones of genome sequencing and map-based cloning strategies. They also support marker assisted breeding and EST mapping. The problem of building a high quality physical map is computationally challenging due to unavoidable noise in the input fingerprint data.
Results
We propose a novel compartmentalized method for the assembly of high quality physical maps from fingerprinted clones. The knowledge of genetic markers enables us to group clones into clusters so that clones in the same cluster are more likely to overlap. For each cluster of clones, a local physical map is first …

Background
High density genetic maps of plants have, nearly without exception, made use of marker datasets containing missing or questionable genotype calls derived from a variety of genic and non-genic or anonymous markers, and been presented as a single linear order of genetic loci for each linkage group. The consequences of missing or erroneous data include falsely separated markers, expansion of cM distances and incorrect marker order. These imperfections are amplified in consensus maps and problematic when fine resolution is critical including comparative genome analyses and map-based cloning. Here we provide a new paradigm, a high-density consensus genetic map of …
Preferential Utilization Of Nadph As The Endogenous Electron Donor For Nad(P)H:Quinone Oxidoreductase 1 (Nqo1) In Intact Pulmonary Arterial Endothelial Cells, Robert D. Bongard, Brian J. Lindemer, Gary S. Krenz, Marilyn P. Merker

Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Faculty Research and Publications
The goal was to determine whether endogenous cytosolic NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) preferentially uses NADPH or NADH in intact pulmonary arterial endothelial cells in culture. The approach was to manipulate the redox status of the NADH/NAD+ and NADPH/NADP+ redox pairs in the cytosolic compartment using treatment conditions targeting glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway alone or with lactate, and to evaluate the impact on the intact cell NQO1 activity. Cells were treated with 2-deoxyglucose, iodoacetate, or epiandrosterone in the absence or presence of lactate, NQO1 activity was measured in intact cells using duroquinone as the electron acceptor, and …
Dendrites, Topological Graphs, And 2-Dominance, Paul Bankston
Dendrites, Topological Graphs, And 2-Dominance, Paul Bankston
Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Faculty Research and Publications
For each positive ordinal α, the reflexive and transitive binary relation of α-dominance between compacta was first defined in our paper [Mapping properties of co-existentially closed continua, Houston J. Math., 31 (2005), 1047-1063] using the ultracopower construction. Here we consider the important special case α =2, and show that any Peano compactum 2-dominated by a dendrite is itself a dendrite (with the same being true for topological graphs and trees). We also characterize the topological graphs that 2-dominate arcs (resp., simple closed curves) as those that have cut points of order 2 (resp., those that are not trees).
Introduction To Pseudo-Ordered Groups, Maria Dolores Cruz
Introduction To Pseudo-Ordered Groups, Maria Dolores Cruz
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
We will give a definition, examples and basic properties of pseudo-ordered groups. These generalize partially-ordered groups. The pseudo-ordered groups have a compatible pseudo-order relation that may lack transitivity. Unlike partially-ordered groups, our groups can be finite and still admit a non-trivial pseudo-order. We will show necessary and sufficient conditions for a group to have a compatible pseudo-order. We also consider maximal pseudo-orders. We give a definition of a pseudo chain induced by a pseudo-order and characterize all pseudo chains on the group $\mathbb {Z}_{n}.$ We will calculate the number of non-isomorphic pseudo-orders on $\mathbb {Z}_{n}$ for $ n < 24.$

Asymptotic Approximation Of The Free Boundary For The American Put Near Expiry, Walt E. Bales
Asymptotic Approximation Of The Free Boundary For The American Put Near Expiry, Walt E. Bales
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
An introduction to boundary value problems for the heat operator will focus on the Dirichlet and Neumann problems in bounded domains. Following an overview of the basic financial principles of derivative securities, a derivation of the Black-Scholes formulae will be given. Partial differential equations as free boundary problems will then be discussed and applied to modeling the American Put option. A method of solution close to expiry will then be investigated.
