In this paper we aim to extend a result of Hörmander's, that \mathcal{B}_{p,k}^{loc}(\Omega)\subset\mathcal{C}^m(\Omega) if \frac{(1+\left \cdot\right )^m}{k}\in L_{p^\prime}, to the setting of vector valued local Hörmander-Beurling spaces, as well as to show that the space \bigcap_{j=1}^\infty\mathcal{B}_{p_j,k_j}^{loc} (\Omega, E) (1\leq p_j\leq\infty, k_j=e^{j\omega}, j=1,2,\dots) is topologically isomorphic to \mathcal{E}_\omega(\Omega, E ). Moreover, it is well known that the union of Sobolev spaces \mathcal{H}_{s}^{loc}(\Omega) (=\mathcal{B}_{2,(1+ \cdot ^2)^{s/2}}^{loc}(\Omega)) coincides with the space \mathcal{D}^{\prime\,F}(\Omega) of finite order distributions on \Omega. We show that this is also verified in the context of vector valued Beurling ultradistributions.

There are many old results of integrals involving Bessel functions, currently available in handbooks, but we found no recourse in the well-known references to how they were established. In this paper, we attempt to have a clear way of proving some of these results. In fact, we consider a certain class of Bessel integrals where we prove that such integrals vanish under certain conditions. To this end some theorems regarding this class of integrals with their proofs are put forward. A computer algorithm is provided to implement some of our results. We prove that if G is a periodic group with all subgroups subnormal, and if for every x, y \in G, ^{G} is an FC-group, then G is nilpotent.

Mathematically, chaotic dynamics are not devoid of order but display episodes of near-cyclic temporal patterns. This is illustrated, in interesting ways, in the case of chaotic biological populations. Despite the individual nature of organisms and the noisy nature of biological time series, subtle temporal patterns have been detected. By using data drawn from chaotic insect populations, we show quantitatively that chaos manifests itself as a tapestry of identifiable and predictable patterns woven together by stochasticity. We show too that the mixture of patterns an experimentalist can expect to see depends on the scale of the system under study.

The domination number of a graph G, γ(G), and the domination graph of a digraph D, dom(D) are integrated in this paper. The γ-set domination graph of the complete biorientation of a graph G, domγ(G) is created. All γ-sets of specific trees T are found, and dom-γ(T) is characterized for those classes.

This text teaches the use of direct source code implementations and the use of the Java libraries; it helps students prepare for later work on larger Java software solutions by adhering to software engineering principles and techniques such as the UML and the Java Collections Framework (JCF). A model for the dynamic thermomechanical behavior of a viscoelastic beam which is in frictional contact with a rigid rotating wheel is presented. It describes a simple braking system in which the wheel comes to a stop as a result of the frictional traction generated by the beam. Friction is modelled with a temperature and slip rate dependent coefficient of friction. Frictional heat generation is taken into account as well as the wheel temperature evolution, and the wear of the beam's contacting end. The model is formulated as a variational inequality. Let Fn be the free group on n letters and let Aut(Fn), Out(Fn) denote the automorphism group and the outer automorphism group of Fn. In this paper the purpose is to obtain some new results on stability and to calculate the mod-p homology of the holomorph of Fn for odd primes in dimensions 1 and 2, and the rational homology in dimensions from 1 through 5.

The automorphisms of free groups with boundaries form a family of groups An,k closely related to mapping class groups, with the standard automorphisms of free groups as An,0 and (essentially) the symmetric automorphisms of free groups as A0,k. We construct a contractible space Ln,k on which An,k acts with finite stabilizers and finite quotient space and deduce a range for the virtual cohomological dimension of An,k. We also give a presentation of the groups and calculate their first homology group.

Given a valuation on the function field k( x; y), we examine the set of images of nonzero elements of the underlying polynomial ring k[ x; y] under this valuation. For an arbitrary field k, a Noetherian power series is a map z : Q --> k that has Noetherian (i.e., reverse well-ordered) support. Each Noetherian power series induces a natural valuation on k( x; y). Although the value groups corresponding to such valuations are well-understood, the restrictions of the valuations to underlying polynomial rings have yet to be characterized. In previous work, we defined the intersection graph of a chord diagram associated with a string link (as in the theory of finite type invariants). In this paper, we look at the case when this graph is a tree, and we show that in many cases these trees determine the chord diagram (modulo the usual 1-term and 4-term relations).

Nesting algorithms deal with placing two-dimensional shapes on the given canvas. In this paper a binary way of solving the nesting problem is proposed. Geometric shapes are quantized into binary form, which is used to operate on them. After finishing nesting they are converted back into original geometrical form. Investigations showed, that there is a big influence of quantization accuracy for the nesting effect. However, greater accuracy results with longer time of computation. The proposed knowledge base system is able to strongly reduce the computational time.

A measure of concordance, $\kappa$, is of polynomial type if and only if $\kappa (tA+(1-t)B)$ is a polynomial in $t$ where $A$ and $B$ are 2-copulas. The degree of such a type of measure of concordance is simply the highest degree of the polynomial associated with $\kappa$. In previous work [2], [3], properties of measures of concordance preserving convex sums (equivalently measures of concordance of polynomial type degree one) were established; however, a characterization was not made. Here a characterization is made using approximations involving doubly stochastic matrices. Other representations are provided from this characterization leading naturally to two interpretations …

Hypergeometric type functions have a long list of applications in the field of sciences. A brief history is given of Hypergeometric functions including some of their applications. A development of a new method for finding asymptotic formulas for large arguments is given. This new method is applied to Bessel functions. Results are compared with previously known methods.
