Distinct from the task of predicting the author of a document (authorship attribution), we focus on addressing the issue of how to estimate the similarity between the written language styles of authors. To do so, we present a dataset of metadata derived by asking human annotators, who were presented with three documents, to identify which two were written by the same author and which was written by a different author. The dataset has over 400 such annotations, creating a companion to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) customer review dataset, laying the groundwork for crowdsourcing applications to other natural language processing …

Tempered fractional differential equations (TFDEs) incorporate exponential decay into fractional operators to account for truncated memory and semi-long-range dependence in a variety of applications, including anomalous diffusion, viscoelasticity, transport phenomena, geophysical processes, and financial dynamics. In this work, a tempered fractional Bernstein method (TFBM) was proposed for the numerical solution of TFDEs involving Caputo-type derivatives. The proposed formulation combined a Bernstein polynomial approximation with an analytic representation of the Caputo–tempered fractional derivative through operational matrices. Bivariate copulas play a central role in modeling the dependence structure between two random variables and serve as a fundamental tool in various applied fields. In this article, we develop a new theoretical framework aimed at constructing simple asymmetric bivariate copulas of the form C(u, v) = uv [ϕ(v) + u(1 − ϕ(v))], (u, v) ∈ [0, 1]2. This framework relies on a tuning univariate function to achieve the desired asymmetry. Studies in univalent function theory comprising the exponential of differential characterizations are rarely considered. The prominent study in this direction is the study of so-called α-exponentially convex functions. Here we study a class of analytic functions which satisfy an analytic characterization influenced by the definition of the multiplicative derivative and α-exponentially convex functions. Integral representation and coefficient inequalities of the defined function class are the main results of the paper.

This report focuses on seven water quality measurements taken at 43 different depths on the Bear Lake for the months of June - November in the years 2018 - 2023. These measurements create a high-dimensional dataset on which we apply state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) techniques to look for low-dimensional structure in the data. A similar effort was made for weather measurements taken near the lake. Our analysis revealed that water quality measurements tend to cluster (i.e., group together) by year, while weather measurements tend to cluster by time of the year. Reliability targeted snow loads (RTLs) measure the weight in accumulated snow (i.e. snow load) that a roof is required to support to ensure the probability of failure is suf- ficiently low. This calculation has historically relied upon a probability distribution that characterizes the ratio between the annual maximum ground snow load to the annual max- imum roof snow load, a quantity referred to as Gr. The best available data for estimating Gr comes from Canadian case studies from the 1950s and 1960s. Calculations From On The Existence Of Periodic Traveling-Wave Solutions To Certain Systems Of Nonlinear, Dispersive Wave Equations, Jacob Daniels

In the field of nonlinear waves, particular interest is given to periodic traveling-wave solutions of nonlinear, dispersive wave equations. This thesis aims to determine the existence of periodic traveling-wave solutions for several systems of water wave equations. These systems are the Schr¨odinger KdV-KdV, Schr¨odinger BBM-BBM, Schr¨odinger KdV-BBM, and Schr¨odinger BBM-KdV systems, and the abcd-system. In particular, it is shown that periodic traveling-wave solutions exist and are explicitly given in terms of cnoidal, the Jacobi elliptic function. Certain solitary-wave solutions are also established as a limiting case of the periodic traveling-wave solutions, that is, as the elliptic modulus approaches one.

Recent amendments to design ground snow load requirements in ASCE 7-22 have reduced the size of case study regions by 91% from what they were in ASCE 7-16, primarily in western states. This reduction is made possible through the development of highly accurate regional generalized additive regression models (RGAMs), stitched together with a novel smoothing scheme implemented in the R software package remap, to produce the continental- scale maps of reliability-targeted design ground snow loads available in ASCE 7-22. Dalam paper ini dibahas mengenai masalah sistem kendali suhu rumah kaca dengan mempertimbangkan variabel gangguan. Masalah kendali suhu rumah kaca ini dimodelkan dengan RMPC (Robust Model Predictive Control). Algoritma Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) dan Genetic Algortihm (GA) digunakan untuk mencari penyelesaian masalah RMPC pada sistem suhu rumah kaca yang berupa masalah optimisasi berkendala. Berdasarkan hasil simulasi, teknik kendali RMPC mampu mengatur suhu rumah kaca sesuai suhu yang diinginkan dengan gangguan relatif kecil yaitu sebesar 0.09oC. Selain itu, waktu iterasi Algoritma PSO lebih cepat dalam menyelesaikan masalah RMPC pada sistem suhu rumah kaca dibandingkan dengan Algoritma Genetika.

When analyzing time series data, it is often of interest to categorize them based on how different they are. We define a new dissimilarity measure between time series: Dynamic Ordered Persistence Editing (DOPE). DOPE satisfies metric properties, is stable to noise, is as informative as alternative approaches, and efficiently computable. Satisfying these properties simultaneously makes DOPE of interest to both theoreticians and data scientists alike.

The dataset contains a minimal resolution of the mod 2 Steenrod algebra in the range 0 < = s < = 128, 0 < = t < = 200, together with chain maps for each cocycle in that range and for the squaring operation Sq^0 in the cohomology of the Steenrod algebra. Ordinary videos capture a surprising amount of hidden, visually imperceptible information. For instance, videos of peoples' faces may capture color changes in the skin and artery motion from heartbeats, while videos of mechanical systems can capture subtle vibrations indicating imminent failure. Algorithms can extract and exaggerate these signals for visualization on top of the original videos. In particular, Eulerian magnification algorithms sidestep the need to track hidden motions directly and instead devise multiscale bandpass filters to amplify signals in local spatial regions. Sonification is the process of deriving an audio representation of a time series which conveys important information about that time series. Otology and vision science have established that humans process audio information more quickly than visual information, and sonification can convey data to the visually impaired. In our work, we implement pipelines using Python/Numpy, and we handle both ordinary 1D time series and multivariate time series. For 1D time series, we find that using data to modulate the pitch or timing of preselected sounds (such as sine waves) simply and effectively captures repeating patterns and anomalies/outliers within the data.
