  • To date, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s (DPIRD) estimated opportunity cost of wind erosion for Western Australia’s (WA) agricultural region has only included the costs of forgone production income and therefore underestimates the broader costs of wind erosion events.

Pastoral leases for livestock grazing cover 40% of the Western Australian rangelands (about 860 000 square kilometres). Data in this report is presented at the land conservation district (LCD) scale.

Consistent with the Pastoral Lands Board’s (PLB) direction, data and analyses are reported at the Land Conservation District (LCD) scale. Some caution is urged when interpreting the report as this summary data may mask the variation in condition evident on leases within an LCD.

In the Kimberley, the analyses of the WARMS point data suggest that the trend in rangeland condition indicated by the frequency of desirable perennial grasses is stable. This report presents results from soil-landscape mapping at a scale of 1: 100,000 in the Tambellup- Borden area of Western Australia. It is accompanied by a soil-landscape map covering almost 511,000 hectares.

Most of the survey occurs within the upper Frankland-Gordon, Kent, North Stirlings Basin and upper reaches of the Pallinup and Kalgan River catchments. The survey falls within the Katanning and Albany Department of Agriculture and Food advisory districts.
