Ancolote Power Station Post-Operational Plankton Monitoring Program: Vol 1 Technical Discussion, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Environmental Systems Department (Pa)

Reports

The affect of the Anclote Power Station on the plankton community was evaluated by (1) determining differences among stations, (2) comparing results from the post-operational plankton monitoring program, 93) examining any major changes in seasonal cycles from those expected of plankton communities in shallow-water, subtropical estuaries and (4) determining the frequency of occurrence and extent of temperatures known to adversely affect the copepods Acartia tonsa and Oithona spp.

Anclote Power-Station Post-Operational Plankton Monitoring Program Volume I: Technical Discussion, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Environmental Systems (Pa), Florida Power Corporation

Reports

As part of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has required that Florida Power Corporation (FPC) demonstrate that .operation of the Anclote Power Station does not adversely affect the aquatic community of the Anclote River and Anchorage. In response to this requirement FPC initiated the Anclote Post-operational Ecological Monitoring Program and contracted with Westinghouse Environmental Systems Department to conduct the plankton monitoring portion of the program.

1976 Water Quality Hillsborough County, Florida, R. G. Wilkins Jan 1977

1976 Water Quality Hillsborough County, Florida, R. G. Wilkins

Reports

The Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Ac t charges the Environmental Prote ction Commission with the function of establishing, operating and maintaining a continuous program for monitoring water pollution. A county-wide water quality surveillance network has been designed to provide accurate data and information as t o whether the requirements of the Act are being complied with and whether the level of water pollution is increasing or decreasing throughout the county.

This broad base of water data obtained during 1972-1976 provides useful background data for eventual development, revision and enforcement of regulations, standard effluent limitation plans, or programs established under the …

Impact Of Dredging In Tampa Bay 1976, Roy R. Lewis Iii Jan 1977

Impact Of Dredging In Tampa Bay 1976, Roy R. Lewis Iii

Reports

During the last 100 years four major types of dredging have impacted the bay: channel deepening, maintenance dredging, shell dredging, and dredging for landfill construction. These landfills have resulted in the loss of 44% of the original marine wetlands bordering Tampa Bay. Recent environmental concerns have halted landfill dredging and severely restricted maintenance dredging.

The Effects Of Sewage Pollution Abatement On Environmental Quality In Hillsborough Bay, Florida, Joseph J. Simon, Wen H. Huang Mar 1975

The Effects Of Sewage Pollution Abatement On Environmental Quality In Hillsborough Bay, Florida, Joseph J. Simon, Wen H. Huang

Reports

Owing to the construction of a large municipal advanced (tertiary) waste water treatment (AWT) plant, a unique opportunity exists to study the side effects of removal of a major point source of pollution on the estuarine environment of Hillsborough Bay. The data is still in more or less raw form, with little analyses or interpretation attempted to date.

Water Quality 1973 - 1974 Hillsborough County, Florida, T. Cardinale, C. Dunn, R. Powell, A. Shaw, R. Wilkins

Reports

The Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Act charges the Environmental Protection Commission with the function of establishing, operating and maintaining a continuous program for monitoring water pollution. A county-wide water quality surveillance network has been designed to provide accurate data and information as to whether the requirements of the Act are being complied with and whether the level of water pollution is increasing or decreasing throughout the county.

Comparison of this 1973 and 1974 data with similar sampling during 1972 permitted evaluation of trends, effectiveness of local control programs, relative contributions from individual sources, general effectiveness of the monitoring network, as …

A Field Study Of Selected Ecological Properties Of Boca Ciega Bay And Adjacent Gulf Of Mexico, Geo-Marine, Inc. Apr 1973

A Field Study Of Selected Ecological Properties Of Boca Ciega Bay And Adjacent Gulf Of Mexico, Geo-Marine, Inc.

Reports

This report describes a quantitative study of selected environmental parameters in a portion of Boca Ciega Bay and in the Gulf of Mexico adjacent to Johns Pass. The investigation included an analysis of hydrography and water quality during the period 14-20 February 1973. The objective of the study was to assess the present marine environment in order to judge the ecological feasibility of discharging tertiary treated sewage effluent into Boca Ciega Cay or secondary treated effluent into the Gulf of Mexico. The discharge would come from the proposed expansion of the South Cross Bayou sewage treatment plant.

Anclote Environmental Project Report 1973, Department Of Marine Science, University Of South Florida

Reports

This report is one in a continuing series on environmental quality in the Anclote estuary near Tarpon Springs, Florida. Much of the base line ecological data now collected will be outlined here and in subsequent works. Full scale power plant operations are scheduled to commence during the summer of 1974 after which time documentation of the nature and degree of environmental impact by the power plant will begin.

Environmental Status Report - July, August, Spetember/October, November, December 1971, Florida Power Corporation

Reports

The publication of this issue of the Environmental Status Report incorporates the environmental activities of Florida Power Corporation from July to December, 1971. Due to exigencies from the development and publishing of the Crystal River Unit 3 Environmental Report, the July-August-September, 1971 Quarterly is· sue was therefore postponed for inclusion with the October-November-December, 1971 Quarterly issue to provide a composite of the environmental programs and activities for the second half of 1971

Environmental Status Report - January-February-March 1971, Florida Power Corporation

Reports

The publication of this quarterly issue of Environmental Status Report records the development of Florida Power Corporation's environmental activities since January 1, 1971. This report emphasizes those programs investigating the environs of the Crystal River Nuclear Plant now under construction. However, a progress report of the environmental efforts at the proposed Anclote fossil-fired generating site is included in Appendix G. The locations of the Crystal River and Anclote sites are shown in Figure 1 (page 5)_

Anclote Environmental Project Report 1970, Marine Science Institue, University Ofsouth Florida Jan 1971

Anclote Environmental Project Report 1970, Marine Science Institue, University Ofsouth Florida

Reports

A comprehensive environmental study involves lengthy and complex research and this report presents results which are preliminary in nature. The sampling period was limited to the fall (September-November) of 1970 in an area which shows marked seasonality. The results however represent a considerable body of information on the Anclote environment and valuable conclusions can be drawn from them. Included in the reports of each sub-discipline which follow are comments on future objectives, especially those for the coming year.

Anclote Environmental Project Report 1971, Marine Science Institute, University Of South Florida

Reports

The sub-discipline reports which follow represent a considerable body of data on the Anclote environment. In general the results provide additional support for many of the conclusions stated or implied in the Annual Report for 1970 (op. cit.). The considerable diversity and complexity of the Anclote estuary and Anchorage including the major role of the grassbeds is now documented in some detail. The overall results also support previous recommendations concerning power plant construction and design (op. cit.).
