The study of dinosaur paleopathology has enriched our understanding of their living conditions and their intra- and interspecific behavior. In this study, I examined lesions on bones from a monospecific bone bed (Edmontosaurus annectens) and their implications for E. annectens behavior and the ecological conditions that affected this population. The bone bed contains abundant, mostly well-preserved, scattered, and disarticulated bones, mostly representing an adult population of E. annectens. From the 3013 bones examined, 96 bones displayed genuine pathologies such as: hypertrophic ossification, healed fractures, tooth traces, idiopathic or traumatic shaft angulation, bone fusion, degenerative joint diseases, osteochondrosis, infection, neoplasm, and …

Theories regarding the taphonomy of fishes in lacustrine environments have traditionally relied on an anoxic water column to explain the excellent preservation. This concept has never been directly tested in modern lacustrine environments that are thought to be analogous to the lacustrine environments predicted by the Stratified-lake Model. This research tested that model by searching for fish remains in 38 collected bottom samples of six modern lacustrine analogues, including Fayetteville Green Lake, New York. Sedimentary structures and facies relations of the sandstone tongue of the Wasatch Formation in Fossil Basin, Wyoming are interpreted as indicative of a rapidly prograding bird's foot delta. Two upward coarsening siliciclastic sequences that contain bottomset, foreset, and topset beds were studied over an area of approximately 400 square kilometers. Vertical and lateral sedimentary changes within this sequence were documented by the measurement and study of over 35 stratigraphic sections. High and low angle cross-bedded sandstone units within the siliciclastic sequences thicken northward significantly before rapidly thinning and grading into the lacustrine Green River Formation. The age of the Alvord Creek Formation of Steens Formation, southeastern Oregon, has been a center of controversy since Axelrod's 1944 paleobotanical assignment of a Lower Pliocene age to the tuffaceous leaf-bearing shales. This date varies from earlier determinations by Chaney and MacGinitie that the flora was Mascall (Upper Miocene) equivalent. However, it is more sharply contradicted by the report of a Middle Miocene (Barstovian) fauna in the apparently overlying Steens Basalt and by a 21.3 m.y. radiometric date obtained on a basalt flow 61 meters above the leaf-bearing beds.
