Calc-Alkaline Magmatism Associated With Salt Diapirs In The Shurab And Garmsarback-Arc Areas (Central Basin, Iran): Magma Genesis And Tectonic Implications, Somayeh Falahaty, Mortaza Sharifi, Moussa Noghreyan, Homayon Safaei, Mohammad Ali Makizadeh

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Medium- and high-K calc-alkaline magmatism of the Shurab (southeast Qom city) and Garmsar (northwest Garmsar city) areas occurred within the Lower Red Formation in the Central Basin behind the Urumieh-Dokthar Magmatic Arc. In terms of whole-rock geochemical analyses and in agreement with the petrographic features, all representative samples of the Shurab area are classified into three groups: group 1 with mainly intergranular texture comprises basalt/trachybasalt, while groups 2 and 3 with trachytic and porphyritic textures, respectively, have basaltic trachyandesite composition. The overall major constituents are plagioclase with composition in the range from An49Ab23 to An75Ab47, clinopyroxene with composition in the …

What Is The Reason For The High Bouguer Gravity Anomaly At Çumra, Konya(Central Anatolia)?, Nedi̇m Gökhan Aydin, Turgay İşseven

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The Bouguer gravity anomaly map of Turkey shows relatively high values around the Çumra region, Konya. This area has a flat topography and a thick cover of sediments despite being seated on a suture zone formed between Anatolide and Tauride Platforms after the Neo-Tethys Ocean closed. High Bouguer gravity anomalies indicate an anomalous mass excess buried under the flat topography. In the present study, the gravity anomaly is studied using several analysis and processing methods in order to understand and infer its possible sources. Spectral analysis of the anomaly showed that the mass should be buried at a depth of …

Petrogenesis, Geochemistry, And Tectonic Setting Of A Basaltic Body Within Thegercus Formation Of Northern Iraq: First Record For Eocene Anorogenic Volcanicactivity In The Region, Yawooz A. Kettanah, Adnan H. Bamarni

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

An abnormally odd and rare occurrence of a basaltic body has been discovered in the middle of the Gercus Formation within the large, double-plunging NW-SE trending Bekhair Anticline to the north of Duhok city, northern Iraq. This is the first discovery of such a volcanic body within the widely exposed Gercus Formation in northern Iraq, southeastern Turkey, and western Iran. This volcanic body, named by the authors the Gercus Basalt, has a long tabular/lenticular shape with a total length of ~4.5 km and a thickness ranging between 1 to 16 m. It is exposed on both limbs of the anticline …

Palynological And Petroleum Geochemical Assessment Of The Lower Oligocene Mezardere Formation, Thrace Basin, Nw Turkey, Kadi̇r Gürgey, Zühtü Bati

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The Oligocene clastic sequence of the Mezardere Formation (MF) with laterally variable organic richness has long been known as a proven source of gas with minor oil accumulations across the Thrace Basin of northwest Turkey. However, based on well data for the thick MF, neither detailed work in relation to age dating and stratigraphy nor a close linkage between the depositional facies/ environments, organic richness/organic proxies, and cyclicity has been established yet. In the present study, the MF was informally subdivided into Lower MF (LMF) and Upper MF (UMF) based on the distinct differences in palynological and geochemical data. Based …

A New Chronostratigraphy ( 40ar- -39ar And U-Pb Dating) For The Middle Section Of The Burdur-Fethiye Shear Zone, Sw Turkey (Eastern Mediterranean), İrem Eli̇tez, Cenk Yaltirak, Gürsel Sunal Jan 2018

A New Chronostratigraphy ( 40ar- -39ar And U-Pb Dating) For The Middle Section Of The Burdur-Fethiye Shear Zone, Sw Turkey (Eastern Mediterranean), İrem Eli̇tez, Cenk Yaltirak, Gürsel Sunal

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Southwestern Turkey is a tectonically active region where extensional, strike-slip, and compressional tectonics cooccur. The Burdur-Fethiye Shear Zone is located in the middle of this complex area. Understanding the tectonic evolution of this region is crucial, but the controversial Neogene chronostratigraphy does not allow robust synthesis because of poor age control. The middle section of the Burdur-Fethiye Shear Zone includes three basins: the Acıpayam, Çameli, and Gölhisar basins. All these basins represent restricted portions of ancient larger carbonate lakes. The lacustrine sediments are locally covered or cut by lamproites with sparse intercalations of tuff levels. New 40Ar- 39Ar biotite and …

Provenance Investigation From Sedimentary Petrography Of The Upper Cretaceous Deepmarine Low Density Turbidites Of The Tanjero Formationaround Arbat, Northeastern Iraq, Hasan Çeli̇k, Tavan Muhammad Hama Sali̇h

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Deep marine low density turbidites of the Upper Cretaceous Tanjero Formation were studied in terms of their petrographic composition to deduce the provenance of the unit around Arbat, northeastern Iraq. Petrographic works based on modal analysis of the clastic rock fragments and released single minerals in silt, fine to coarse grained sandstone, and, in very small quantities, pebbly sandstone show that these turbidites are mainly composed of sedimentary rock fragments such as carbonate, microcrystalline and cryptocrystalline quartz bearing siliceous sedimentary cherts, Radiolaria bearing cherts, and released Radiolaria fossils from the cherts during a short distance transportation. Quartz and feldspar ratios …

Resistivity Inversion Of Transversely Isotropic Media, Ertan Pekşen, Türker Yas Jan 2018

Resistivity Inversion Of Transversely Isotropic Media, Ertan Pekşen, Türker Yas

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

In this paper, we have suggested a finite difference algorithm for resistivity forward and inverse modeling with electrically anisotropic media in applied geophysics. Electrical anisotropy affects the surface measurement in a fashion that may make interpretation erroneous. This means that the resistivity section obtained by an inversion method that does not incorporate electrical anisotropy gives the wrong subsurface structure. We used a classical multielectrode dataset of a profile for estimating not only horizontal but vertical resistivity as well. Thus, the electrical anisotropy can be calculated. Finally, the finite difference mesh can be corrected by using the estimated anisotropic coefficient. The …

Heavy Minerals And Exotic Pebbles From The Eocene Flysch Deposits Of The Magura Nappe (Outer Western Carpathians, Eastern Slovakia): Their Composition And Implications On The Provenance, Katarína Bónová, Ján Bóna, Martin Kovácik, Tomás Mikus Jan 2018

Heavy Minerals And Exotic Pebbles From The Eocene Flysch Deposits Of The Magura Nappe (Outer Western Carpathians, Eastern Slovakia): Their Composition And Implications On The Provenance, Katarína Bónová, Ján Bóna, Martin Kovácik, Tomás Mikus

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The study aims to reconstruct the crystalline parent rock assemblages of the Eocene Strihovce Formation (Krynica Unit) and Mrazovce Member (Raca Unit) deposits, based on the heavy mineral suites, their corrosive features, geochemistry of garnet and tourmaline, zircon cathodoluminescence (CL) images, and exotic pebble composition. Both units are an integral part of the Magura Nappe belonging to the Flysch Belt (Outer Western Carpathians). Corrosion signs observable on heavy minerals point to different burial conditions and/or diverse sources. The compositions of the detrital garnets and tourmalines as well as the CL study of zircons indicate their origin in gneisses, mica schists, …

Influence Of Leachate On The Oligocene-Miocene Clays Of The İstanbul Area, Turkey, Sadik Öztoprak, Davut Laçi̇n

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Oligo-Miocene clay outcrops on the European side (west and northwest part) of İstanbul were analysed. Formerly, a landfill and sanitary landfill were built on the clay. Mineral liners of the current and extending parts of the İstanbul landfill consist of these clays, since they include a considerable amount of smectite, illite, and kaolinite. With this feature, these clays are also an important candidate for the buffer material of repositories for nuclear wastes of newly planned nuclear power plants. In this context, one Miocene and two Oligocene clay samples were subjected to leachate under low stress using an odometer device during …

Origin Of The Pleonaste-Bearing Mafic-Ultramafic Rocks From The Armutlu Peninsula, Nw Turkey, Mutlu Özkan, Ömer Faruk Çeli̇k

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Al-rich spinels were rarely reported compared to Cr-spinels, which were mostly observed in ophiolitic rocks. Pleonaste [(Mg, Fe2+)Al2O4], which is an Al-rich spinel, was observed in the ophiolitic mafic-ultramafic rocks tectonically located in the Early Cretaceous accretionary complex, at the eastern part of the Armutlu peninsula, NW Turkey. The ophiolitic mafic-ultramafic rocks have cumulate character, and most of them are represented by peridotite and pyroxenite. Pleonaste was observed in pyroxenites and gabbros of the ophiolitic rocks. Pyroxenites consist mainly of clinopyroxene + orthopyroxene + amphibole ± olivine + spinel. Gabbros are composed of clinopyroxene + orthopyroxene + amphibole + plagioclase …

Mineral Records Of The Pyroxenites Formed Within Harzburgites (Ulaş, Sivas, Turkey): Implications On Petrogenesis And Tectonic Setting, Özgür Bi̇li̇ci̇, Hasan Kolayli

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

In this article, the petrological processes of the clinopyroxenite dykes and host peridotites occurring in Ulaş District (Sivas, mid-Anatolia, Turkey) are discussed. The new geochemical data from major minerals in the clinopyroxenite dykes and host harzburgites revealed differences to the supra-subduction zone (SSZ)-type pyroxenites and peridotites. In particular, the NiO content of olivines in the host harzburgites showed the signature of the mantle, whereas rare olivines of the clinopyroxenites had a NiO content and Fo number that were inferior to those of mantle peridotites. The high Mg-number of clinopyroxenes in the clinopyroxenites was likely associated with the partial remelting of …

Shallow Crust Structure Of The Büyük Menderes Graben Through An Analysis Of Gravity Data, Fatma Fi̇gen Altinoğlu, Murat Sari, Ali̇ Aydin

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The Büyük Menderes is one of the most important geostructural features of highly seismically active western Anatolia, Turkey. This article aims to analyze the geological features and the shallow crust structure of the Büyük Menderes graben. To achieve this, six different edge detection filters and a 3D inversion method were applied to the Bouguer gravity data to detect new lineaments and shallow crust topographies. A renewed fault map of the Büyük Menderes graben is the significant contribution of the present study. New lineaments were detected in the western, southeastern, and northern parts of the region, where intense seismicity was observed. …

Palaeontological Evidence And Sedimentary Facies In A Lower Miocene (Aquitanian) Succession From The Bingöl Minibasin (Sivas Basin), Central Anatolia, Mehmet Serkan Akki̇raz, Özgen Kangal, Nazi̇re Özgen Erdem, Yeşi̇m Büyükmeri̇ç, Ci̇han Doğruöz

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The results of palaeontological (palynological and mollusc) and sedimentological analyses of the lower Miocene deposits from the Bingöl minibasin, a part of the Sivas Basin, are exhibited to define the vertical shifts in sedimentation environments and plant covers, linking to eustasy. The presence of index species Corbulomya (Lentidium) aquitanica suggests an Aquitanian age for the studied succession, which can be divided into three informal units: a lower unit, a middle unit, and an upper unit. Fine-grained sediments of the lower unit were deposited in a low sea-level setting due to high quantities of terrestrial palynomorphs. This unit is overlain by …

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

This study focuses on the average crustal and the upper mantle structure throughout the Lake Van region of eastern Turkey. The study aimed to investigate the structure with the fundamental mode interstation Rayleigh wave phase velocities from the local and the regional earthquakes recorded by Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute stations. Considering back azimuth differences of each source and station path, six different broadband station pairs and 27 earthquakes were selected to determine the 1-D shear-wave velocity structures throughout the region by using an interstation method (slant stacking technique). The linearized least squares algorithm was used to obtain the …

Maastrichtian-Thanetian Planktonic Foraminiferal Biostratigraphy And Remarks On The K-Pg Boundary In The Southern Kocaeli Peninsula (Nw Turkey), Volkan Sarigül, Aynur Hakyemez, Okan Tüysüz, Şengül Can Genç, İsmai̇l Ömer Yilmaz, Ercan Özcan

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The Kocaeli Peninsula (NW Turkey) provides one of the best exposed deep marine Upper Cretaceous-Palaeocene sections in north-western Anatolia. The biostratigraphic framework from three sections, namely Belen, Bulduk, and Toylar, in the southern part of the Kocaeli Peninsula is established by means of planktonic foraminifera. A very rich planktonic foraminiferal assemblage analysed both in thin sections and washed residues records a biozonation ranging from the Contusotruncana contusa (CF6) Zone (Maastrichtian) to the Globanomalina pseudomenardii (P4) Zone (Thanetian). Although a major part of the biozones in the studied interval is clearly defined, the upper three zones (CF1-3) of the latest Maastrichtian …

Sulfur Isotope Characteristics Of The Permian Vhms Deposits In Tasik Chini District, Central Belt Of Peninsular Malaysia, Mohd Basril Iswadi Basori, Khin Zaw, Robert Ross Large, Wan Fuad Wan Hassan

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Sulfur isotope data from sulfide and sulfate minerals have been measured from the two typical examples of the Permian volcanic-hosted massive sulfide (VHMS) deposits at the Tasik Chini district in the Central Belt of Peninsular Malaysia. In this study, we present the sulfur isotope data for 33 sulfide minerals and 23 barite samples from two VHMS deposits in the Tasik Chini district. Sulfides show a narrow range of sulfur values from -2.9%o to +8.30%o, which can be interpreted to be derived from a mixed sulfur source of reduced seawater sulfate with the possible addition of magmatic sulfur. Sulfate sulfur in …

Marine Effects On Vertical Electrical Soundings Along Shorelines, Emi̇n Uğur Ulugergerli̇ Jan 2017

Marine Effects On Vertical Electrical Soundings Along Shorelines, Emi̇n Uğur Ulugergerli̇

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Onshore applications of direct current resistivity (DCR) along shorelines suffer a short-circuit-like phenomenon due to electrical current flowing through a more conductive body of water rather than ground. Our study of the numerical simulation of DCR data with a three-dimensional forward model demonstrated that the apparent resistivity was reduced as a function of the sea depth and the distance of measurement site to the shoreline. Furthermore, it was concluded that the "marine effects" on DCR data (i.e. reduction in apparent resistivity) become nonnegligible as the ratio of half-electrode expansion (AB/2) to the distance to the shoreline is larger than one. …

Active Faults In The Anatolian-Aegean Plate Boundary Region With Nubia, Ali̇ Değer Özbakir, Rob Govers, Rinus Wortel Jan 2017

Active Faults In The Anatolian-Aegean Plate Boundary Region With Nubia, Ali̇ Değer Özbakir, Rob Govers, Rinus Wortel

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Convergence of the Africa, Arabia, and Eurasia plates and the westward escape of Anatolia have resulted in an evolving plate boundary zone in the Eastern Mediterranean. The current location and nature of the plate boundary between the Anatolian and the African plate is difficult to trace due to the scattered crustal earthquakes and the absence of deep ones. We examine various types and locations for the plate boundary as constrained by seismicity, seismic reflection studies, tomographic studies, and geodetic measurements and we use a spherical plane stress finite element model to test these possibilities. In our regional model, we impose …

Geochemical, Microthermometric, And Isotopic Constraints On The Origin Of Fluorite Deposits In Central Anatolia, Turkey, Peli̇n Coşanay, Ece Kirat, Ni̇hal Çevi̇k, Ceyda Kizilkanat, Hali̇m Mutlu, Şükrü Koç

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

We investigate rare earth element geochemistry, microthermometric characteristics, and radiogenic isotope systematics of fluorites and stable isotope compositions of gangue minerals from several fluorite deposits in central Turkey. In the deposits, fluorite is the main ore mineral and it is accompanied by quartz, calcite, and minor pyrite and barite. Veins are represented by three different fluorite types based on their color. Total REY contents of fluorites are highly variable, ranging from 24 to 693 ppm. LREE concentrations of fluorites of all colors are similar but medium and heavy REE abundances of green fluorites are nearly an order of magnitude greater …

The Discovery Of A Low-Angle Normal Fault In The Taurus Mountains: The İvriz Detachment And Implications Concerning The Cenozoic Geology Of Southern Turkey, Gürol Seyi̇toğlu, Veysel Işik, Esra Gürbüz, Alper Gürbüz Jan 2017

The Discovery Of A Low-Angle Normal Fault In The Taurus Mountains: The İvriz Detachment And Implications Concerning The Cenozoic Geology Of Southern Turkey, Gürol Seyi̇toğlu, Veysel Işik, Esra Gürbüz, Alper Gürbüz

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The İvriz detachment fault has been determined on the southern border of the Ulukışla basin separating the metamorphic Bolkar Group of the Taurus Mountains and the Paleocene-Lower Eocene Halkapınar formation of basin deposits. The fault dips towards the north and has kinematic indicators (asymmetric grain/grain aggregate porphyroclasts, oblique foliation, and S-C fabrics), suggesting a top-to-the-N-NE sense of shearing. The clastic material originating from the Bolkar Group in the sedimentary units of the Ulukışla basin demonstrates that the detachment fault could have been be active during Latest Cretaceous-Eocene times. The İvriz detachment may have initiated as part of a high-angle breakaway …

Paleoenvironment Of The Late Oligocene From The Kağızman-Tuzluca Basin (Northeastern Anatolia) Based On The Micro- And Macrofloras, Mi̇ne Sezgül Kayseri̇ Özer, Recep Hayretti̇n Sancay, Şevket Şen, Koray Sözeri̇, Gregoire Métais, Turhan Ayyildiz, Baki̇ Erdoğan Varol

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The Kağızman-Tuzluca Basin in East Anatolia is still poorly documented for its stratigraphy and in particular its paleofloral assemblages. In this study, the microfloras from the Kağızman-Kötek and Kömürlü areas and the macroflora from the Tuzluca area in this basin have been defined to overcome this deficiency. Sedimentary sequences of the Kağızman-Kömürlü area have been deposited in terrestrial conditions different from the sequences of the Kağızman-Kötek and Tuzluca areas, which were deposited in brackish conditions near a shallow marine environment. Paleovegetation in eastern Anatolia is represented by mixed mesophytic and coniferous forests restricted to high and middle altitudes (e.g. Pinus, …

The Impact Of Eustasy, Tectonics, And Paleoclimate On The Dolomitization Of The Syn-Rift Neogene Carbonate Platforms In The Red Sea Coastal Area, Egypt, Abdallah Mohammed Hassan Jan 2017

The Impact Of Eustasy, Tectonics, And Paleoclimate On The Dolomitization Of The Syn-Rift Neogene Carbonate Platforms In The Red Sea Coastal Area, Egypt, Abdallah Mohammed Hassan

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

A very significant quantity of dolomites and dolomitic limestones of variable origins occurs in the syn-rift Neogene carbonate platforms of the NW Red Sea coast and the Gulf of Suez. These are more common in the Um Diheisi Member of the Ranga Formation (early Miocene), the Um Mahara Formation (middle Miocene), the Um Gheig Formation (late Miocene), and the Dashet El Dabaa Member of the Shagra Formation (Pliocene). Based on their stratigraphic distribution, petrography, and cathodoluminescent characteristics, as supported by geochemical data, syn-rift irregular morphotectonic relief, and the eustasy, four distinct types of dolomites have been identified and were interpreted …

Terrestrial-Marine Sedimentary Cycles In The South Yellow Sea, China: Implications For Paleoenvironmental Reconstruction Since Mis 5, Liangtao Ye, Ge Yu, Mengna Liao, Shouyun Hu, Longsheng Wang, Lei Gao Jan 2017

Terrestrial-Marine Sedimentary Cycles In The South Yellow Sea, China: Implications For Paleoenvironmental Reconstruction Since Mis 5, Liangtao Ye, Ge Yu, Mengna Liao, Shouyun Hu, Longsheng Wang, Lei Gao

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Sedimentary records of the continental shelves since Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 5 are valuable for paleoenvironmental reconstruction and decipherment of land-sea interactions. Since the 1990s, different perspectives on global glacioclimate magnitudes and the associated evolution of major sedimentary environments during the Late Pleistocene have caused a distinctive understanding of marine transgressions and coastal deposits during MIS 3 and MIS 5. Moreover, the chronology of sediment sequences from this region was primarily determined based on radiocarbon dating, which might be problematic for deposits of 40-50 ka BP or older. In this study, we used both a 150-m-long sedimentary core (YZ07) as …

In this study, shale samples from this unit were investigated to evaluate source rock characteristics, depositional conditions, and hydrocarbon potential. Outcrop samples of the Küçükkuyu Formation were taken from different locations and analyzed by Rock-Eval pyrolysis, vitrinite reflectance (Ro), stable carbon isotope (δ13C), total sulfur (TS), gas chromatography (GC), and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The total organic carbon (TOC) values range from 0.23 to 6.1 wt.% with an average of 1.76 wt.% for the northern samples and 0.24 to 2.82 wt.% with an average of …

Higher-Resolution Biostratigraphy For The Kinta Limestone And An Implication For Continuous Sedimentation In The Paleo-Tethys, Western Belt Of Peninsular Malaysia, Haylay Tsegab Gebretsadik, Chow Weng Sum, Gatovsky A.Yuriy, Aaron W. Hunter, Jasmi Ab Talib, Solomon Kassa Jan 2017

Hunter, Jasmi Ab Talib, Solomon Kassa

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The paleogeography of the juxtaposed Southeast Asian terranes, derived from the northeastern margins of Gondwana during the Carboniferous to Triassic, resulted in complex basin evolution with massive carbonate deposition on the margins of the Paleo-Tethys. Due to the inherited structural and tectonothermal complexities, discovery of diagnostic microfossils from these carbonates has been problematic. This is particularly the case for the Kinta Limestone, a massive Paleozoic carbonate succession that covers most of the Kinta Valley in the central part of the Western Belt of Peninsular Malaysia. Owing to the complex structural and igneous events, as well as extensive diagenetic alterations, establishing …

Investigating Moho Depth, Curie Point, And Heat Flow Variations Of The Yozgat Batholith And Its Surrounding Area, North Central Anatolia,Turkey, Using Gravity And Magnetic Anomalies, Funda Bi̇li̇m

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

This paper proposes an interpretation of the Bouguer gravity and magnetic anomaly map of the Yozgat Batholith and its surrounding area (north central Anatolia) for determination of crustal and geothermal structures. In the study area, the Moho and Conrad depths based on a relationship between Bouguer gravity anomaly and seismically determined crustal thickness were estimated as 34-39 km and 19.5-21.5 km, respectively. The crustal thickness of the study area increases from west to east. The estimated Curie point depths in the study area by means of spectral analysis of the magnetic data vary between 10.4 and 19.5 km. The shallow …

Depositional Stages Of The Eğribucak Inner Basin (Terrestrial To Marine Evaporite And Carbonate) From The Sivas Basin (Central Anatolia, Turkey), Özgen Kangal, Nazi̇re Erdem, Baki̇ Erdoğan Varol Jan 2017

Depositional Stages Of The Eğribucak Inner Basin (Terrestrial To Marine Evaporite And Carbonate) From The Sivas Basin (Central Anatolia, Turkey), Özgen Kangal, Nazi̇re Erdem, Baki̇ Erdoğan Varol

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The Sivas Cenozoic Basin and coeval Central Anatolian basins such as Çankırı and Tuz Gölü are characterized by both marine and terrestrial sediments ranging in age from the Eocene to early Miocene. The evaporite regime here generally appeared during the late stage of Eocene transgression and persisted through the Oligocene time. However, marine-induced Oligocene evaporites are less known because of less paleontological evidence and regional tectonics and salt diapirism that mostly caused the destruction of their original stratigraphic positions. The Eğribucak area studied here, located about 25 km southeast of Sivas, provides a well-stratified key section to shed light on …

A Model For Estimating Parameters Of Rotational Landslideusing A First-Order Differential Equation, Cahi̇t Taği Çeli̇k Jan 2017

A Model For Estimating Parameters Of Rotational Landslideusing A First-Order Differential Equation, Cahi̇t Taği Çeli̇k

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

A first-order differential equation was developed and proposed as a search tool in the detection and determination of rotational landslides from two epochs of light detection and ranging (LiDAR) system data in the form of 3D points. To test the proposed method two epochs of LiDAR data were used: one before and one after a rotational landslide occurred. The first epoch of LiDAR data was real, while the second epoch of LiDAR data was simulated based on the first epoch to ensure one or more rotational landslides were included. From the last returns of LiDAR data of both epochs, two …
