Complex environments show a high degree of dynamics caused by vital interactions between objects within those environments and alterations through which the set of objects and their characteristics within those environments go over time. Within this work, we show that we can tame the level of complexity in dynamic environments by identifying ‘relationships of interest’ between objects in such environments. The development of best practices that deliver quality STEM education to all students, while minimizing achievement gaps, have been solicited by several national agencies. ABMS is a feasible approach to provide insight into global behavior based upon the interactions amongst agents and environments. In this review, we systematically surveyed several modeling and simulation approaches and discussed their applications to the evaluation of relevant theories in STEM education. It was found that ABMS is optimal to simulate STEM education hypotheses, as ABMS will sensibly present emergent theories and causation in STEM education phenomena if the model is properly validated and calibrated.

This study focuses on implementing a log analysis strategy that combines a neural network algorithm and wavelet transform. Wavelet transform allows us to extract the important hidden information and features of the original time series log data and offers a precise framework for the analysis of input information. The recommendation path displays the list of courses a student can take in each quarter from the first quarter after admission until the graduation quarter. The courses are filtered as per the student’s interest obtained from a questionnaire asked to the student.

The main aim of the course recommendation system is to build a course recommendation path for students to help them plan courses to successfully graduate on time. The Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture is used to isolate the user interface (UI) design from the business logic. The front-end of the application develops the UI using AngularJS. The front-end design is done by gathering the functionality system requirements -- input controls, navigational components, informational components and containers and usability testing. The back-end of the application involves setting up the database and server-side routing. Server-side routing is done using Express JS.

Denial of service attacks (DoS) are a common threat to many online services. These attacks aim to overcome the availability of an online service with massive traffic from multiple sources. By spoofing legitimate users, an attacker floods a target system with a high quantity of packets or connections to crash its network resources, bandwidth, equipment, or servers. The Planguages project is the birthplace of the Planguage programming
approach, which is designed to alleviate the task of writing parallel
programs and harness massively parallel computers and networks of workstations.
Planguage has two existing translators, Parallel C (PC) and Pfortran,
which is used for their base languages, C and Fortran77. The translators
work with MPI (Message Passing Interface) for communications. SOS
(ipStreams, Overlapping and Shortcutting), a function library that supports
the three named functionalities, can be used to further optimize parallel algorithms.

The purpose of this project is to present with empirical results that a parallel design with the use of multiple processors can be successfully applied along with bit-parallel approximate string matching algorithms to solve practical bioinformatics problems. It will demonstrate that nearly optimal speedup can be achieved with a cluster of between two and eight workstations using MPI (Message Passing Interface), directly decreasing the total latency required to perform a string matching problem.

This research explores the idea that for certain optimization problems there is a way to parallelize the algorithm such that the parallel efficiency can exceed one hundred percent. Specifically, a parallel compiler, PC, is used to apply shortcutting techniquest to a metaheuristic Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), to solve the well-known Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) on a cluster running Message Passing Interface (MPI). The results of both serial and parallel execution are compared using test datasets from the TSPLIB.

This thesis presents and evaluates a new parallel algorithm that computes all single cosets in the double coset M₂₄ P M₂₄, where P is a permutation on n points of a certain cycle structure, and M₂₄ is the Mathieu group related to a Steiner system S(5, 8, 24) as its automorphism group. The purpose of this work is not to replace the existing algorithms, but rather to explore a possibility to extend calculations of single cosets beyond the limits encountered when using currently available methods.
