Generating Acoustic Projections Using 3d Models, Jake A. Brazelton
Generating Acoustic Projections Using 3d Models, Jake A. Brazelton
Senior Honors Projects, 2020-current
Raytracing is used in commercial graphics engines most commonly for lighting effects, but it also has many uses when it comes to acoustic simulation. Adopted directly from these computer graphics programs, the formulas presented herein enable the visualization of acoustic intensity levels throughout a 3D space using Python 3 and the OpenGL library. In addition to visualization, they also provide the ability to calculate the reverberation time and critical distance of an enclosed space in relation to its size and material makeup. The described application bundles all of these components together in a Qt5 application that allows users to view …
Tidytouch: An Interactive Visualization Tool For Data Science Education, Jonah E. Devaney
Tidytouch: An Interactive Visualization Tool For Data Science Education, Jonah E. Devaney
Undergraduate Honors Theses
Accessibility and usability of software define the programs used for both professional and academic activities. While many proprietary tools are easy to grasp, some challenges exist in using more technical resources, such as the statistical programming language R. The creative project tidyTouch is a web application designed to help educate any user in basic R data visualization and transformation using the popular ggplot2 and dplyr packages. Providing point-and-click interactivity to explore potential modifications of graphics for data presentation, the application uses an intuitive interface to make R more accessible to those without programming experience. This project is in a state …
Collecting Virtual And Augmented Reality In The Twenty-First Century Library, Matthew Hannah, Sarah Huber, Sorin Adam Matei
Collecting Virtual And Augmented Reality In The Twenty-First Century Library, Matthew Hannah, Sarah Huber, Sorin Adam Matei
Matei Interdisciplinary Research Collaboratory
In this paper, we discuss possible pedagogical applications for virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR), within a humanities/social sciences curriculum, articulating a critical need for academic libraries to collect and curate 3D objects. We contend that building infrastructure is critical to keep pace with innovative pedagogies and scholarship. We offer theoretical avenues for libraries to build a repository 3D object files to be used in VR and AR tools and sketch some anticipated challenges. To build an infrastructure to support VR/AR collections, we have collaborated with College of Liberal Arts to pilot a program in which Libraries and CLA …
A New Design For The Hudson Community School District's Website, Shannon Michelle Horn
A New Design For The Hudson Community School District's Website, Shannon Michelle Horn
Honors Program Theses
Technology is increasingly becoming a bigger and more important part of our daily lives. Especially in such institutions as the public education system, the Internet is becoming more widely used as a source of information and a means of communication between the district and parents, students, the community, and even teachers. The Internet, and all forms of technology, is increasingly becoming the primary way people access information, especially in education. As more and more schools are depending on the Internet to promote their schools, they are in tum becoming dependent on how outsiders view their website as a first impression …
The Effect Of Interactivity And Instructional Exposure On Learning Effectiveness And Knowledge Retention: A Comparative Study Of Two U.S. Air Force Computer-Based Training (Cbt) Courses For Network User Licensing, Matthew J. Imperial
Theses and Dissertations
The United States Air Force (USAF) currently employs the use of computer-based training (CET) across a host of requirements. One such requirement is in the Information Assurance (IA) arena and involves the training/licensing of over one-million computer network end-users. USAF use of CETs has been shown to possess a potential for substantial fiscal savings. However, studies investigating the learning outcomes of learning effectiveness (initial learning) and knowledge retention (sustained learning) associated with USAF CETs are lacking.

Lecture On-Line/On-Demand, Siew Ping Foo
Student Works (2000-2009)
The on-line/on-demand lecture broadcasting is an ideal approach to meet the demand of effective and efficient communication for the fast growing web and multimedia technology. Thus, this project, the development of Lecture On-Line/On-Demand (LOL/LOD) broadcasting system provides the common functional components required for broadcasting both real time and not real time lectures. This will have resolved some existing education delivery bottlenecks such as time inconvenience, location dependence, space and tools limitation in the existing systems.Furthermore, there are viewer and administrator modules proposed for the LOL/LOD system. The viewer section allows the user to view, sort, search on-line or on-demand lectures …

Student Works (2000-2009)
The technology of graphics is moving to the era of three dimensions (30). In 1970s, people were using the text-based computer system. When the technique of 2D image processing was invented, people changed their system into 2D representation because of its ability to explain more information in only one image. Around 1990s 3D graphics have been pushed out to the market. Soon, people accepted 3D as an advance information representation medium. The most important achievement of 3D technology is the making of virtual reality, which provides human unlimited space and interactivity. The v- Faculty applies the concept of virtual reality …

Sistem Maklumat Interaktif Minda Manusia, Mohd Salleh Feliawati
Student Works (2000-2009)

Design And Implementation Of A University Department Website, Margaret M. Rick
Design And Implementation Of A University Department Website, Margaret M. Rick
Graduate Research Papers
The website design cycle consists of four important components: (1) planning, (2) production, (3) implementation, and (4) operation. Within these components are a variety of vital tasks ranging from defining the objective and audience to conceptualizing the site, determining content, and creating, testing, and revising the site. Numerous rules or accepted principles guide the design process from color and font selection, to graphic creation, to site navigation layout. Once created, a website must be maintained: content should be updated and outside links verified on a regular basis. A site that is not maintained or kept current is of no benefit …
