Qos Recommendation In Cloud Services, Xianrong Zheng, Li Da Xu, Sheng Chai Jan 2017

Qos Recommendation In Cloud Services, Xianrong Zheng, Li Da Xu, Sheng Chai

Information Technology & Decision Sciences Faculty Publications

As cloud computing becomes increasingly popular, cloud providers compete to offer the same or similar services over the Internet. Quality of service (QoS), which describes how well a service is performed, is an important differentiator among functionally equivalent services. It can help a firm to satisfy and win its customers. As a result, how to assist cloud providers to promote their services and cloud consumers to identify services that meet their QoS requirements becomes an important problem. In this paper, we argue for QoS-based cloud service recommendation, and propose a collaborative filtering approach using the Spearman coefficient to recommend cloud …

Many leaders of nonprofit organizations (NPOs) in the United States do not have plans to adopt cloud computing. However, the factors accounting for their decisions is not known. This correlational study used the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) to examine whether performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price value, and habit can predict behavioral intention (BI) and use behavior (UB) of NPO information technology (IT) managers towards adopting cloud computing within the Phoenix metropolitan area of Arizona of the U.S. An existing UTAUT2 survey instrument was used with a sample of …

A System For Detecting Malicious Insider Data Theft In Iaas Cloud Environments, Jason Nikolai, Yong Wang Dec 2016

A System For Detecting Malicious Insider Data Theft In Iaas Cloud Environments, Jason Nikolai, Yong Wang

Research & Publications

The Cloud Security Alliance lists data theft and insider attacks as critical threats to cloud security. Our work puts forth an approach using a train, monitor, detect pattern which leverages a stateful rule based k-nearest neighbors anomaly detection technique and system state data to detect inside attacker data theft on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) nodes. We posit, instantiate, and demonstrate our approach using the Eucalyptus cloud computing infrastructure where we observe a 100 percent detection rate for abnormal login events and data copies to outside systems.

Joint Virtual Machine And Bandwidth Allocation In Software Defined Network (Sdn) And Cloud Computing Environments, Jonathan David Chase, Rakpong Kaewpuang, Wen Yonggang, Dusit Niyato

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Cloud computing provides users with great flexibility when provisioning resources, with cloud providers offering a choice of reservation and on-demand purchasing options. Reservation plans offer cheaper prices, but must be chosen in advance, and therefore must be appropriate to users' requirements. If demand is uncertain, the reservation plan may not be sufficient and on-demand resources have to be provisioned. Previous work focused on optimally placing virtual machines with cloud providers to minimize total cost. However, many applications require large amounts of network bandwidth. Therefore, considering only virtual machines offers an incomplete view of the system. Exploiting recent developments in software …
