Various Department of Defense (DoD) agencies archive terabytes of intelligence imagery and electrooptical signature data. The Air Force Research Laboratory, Sensors Directorate (AFRL/SN), is tasked with creating and managing a virtual distributed library that facilitates secure, detailed queries across these distributed holdings using the internally developed Advanced Query Tool (AQT). In this research, a methodology is proposed to utilize user profiling techniques to augment a digital library. As part of this methodology, product-oriented usability analysis metrics are introduced that quantitatively verify the usability of an interface. Air Force pilots and other operators make crucial mission planning decisions based on weather forecasts; therefore, the ability to forecast the weather accurately is a critical issue to Air Force Weather (AFW) and its customers. The goal of this research is to provide Air Force Weather with a methodology to automate statistical data analysis for the purpose of providing on-demand metrics. A data warehousing methodology is developed and applied to the weather metrics problem in order to present an option that will facilitate on-demand metrics. On-line analytical processing (OLAP) and data mining solutions are also discussed.

The introduction of the MARC format in the 1960s and the creation of national bibliographic utilities in the 1970s had a lasting impact on cataloging. Active rules are used in a markup representation by integrating Collaborative Software Agents with TEXPROS (abbreviation for TEXt PROcessing System) [Liu and Ng 1996] to create a powerful distributed document management system. This paper addresses the definition of MIS and the legitimacy of MIS as an academic discipline. Both sides of the MIS legitimacy debate are presented, with the authors embracing the diversity of MIS as a strength that enhances the legitimacy of the MIS discipline. Based on the diversity theory of MIS, the authors propose a new-multidimensional model of MIS that presents a new way of looking at the discipline and the researchers who work in it.

The concept of jumping emerging patterns (JEPs) has been proposed to describe those discriminating features which only occur in the positive training instances but do not occur in the negative class at all; JEPs have been used to construct classifiers which generally provide better accuracy than the state-of-the-art classifiers such as C4.5. The algorithms for maintaining the space of jumping emerging patterns (JEP space) are presented in this paper. We prove that JEP spaces satisfy the property of convexity. The production rates and the inclusive cross sections of the isovector meson π0π0, the isoscalar mesons ηη and η′(958)η′(958), the strange meson K0SKS0 and the ΛΛ baryon have been measured as functions of scaled energy in hadronic events, two-jet events and each jet of three-jet events from hadronic Z decays and compared to Monte Carlo models. The analysis is based on 3.7 million hadronic events collected with the ALEPH detector at LEP at a centre-of-mass energy of s√=91.2s=91.2 GeV. The JETSET modelling of the gluon fragmentation into isoscalar mesons is found to be in agreement with the experimental results. HERWIG …

The production rates of D∗±D∗±, D∗±sDs∗±, D±D±, D0/D¯0D0/D¯0, D±sDs±, and Λ+c/Λ¯−cΛc+/Λ¯c− in Z→cc¯Z→cc¯ decays are measured using the LEP I data sample recorded by the ALEPH detector. The fractional energy spectrum of the D∗±D∗± is well described as the sum of three contributions: charm hadronisation, b hadron decays and gluon splitting into a pair of heavy quarks. The probability for a c quark to hadronise into a D∗+D∗+ is found to be f(c→D∗+)=0.233±0.010(stat.)±0.011(syst.)f(c→D∗+)=0.233±0.010(stat.)±0.011(syst.). The average fraction of the beam energy carried by D∗±D∗± mesons in Z→cc¯Z→cc¯ events is measured to be ⟨XE(D∗±)⟩cc¯=0.4878±0.0046(stat.)±0.0061(syst.).⟨XE(D∗±)⟩cc¯=0.4878±0.0046(stat.)±0.0061(syst.). We describe the PIPE personalization facility for GAMS, whereby content from the cross-index is specialized for a user desiring software recommendations for a specific problem instance. We investigate the use of concepts from multiple, real-world pre-existing, domain ontologies to describe the underlying data content and support information access at a higher level of abstraction.
