V3 Onion Service Vulnerability On Website Fingerprinting, Olusegun Akinyemi Jun 2023

V3 Onion Service Vulnerability On Website Fingerprinting, Olusegun Akinyemi

Student Theses and Dissertations

Website fingerprinting attacks have revealed a vulnerability in Tor's network. Previous studies have shown success rates against the V2 onion service network and the possibility of real-time fingerprinting. With the transition to V3 onion services, there has yet to be any recent research on the impact of these changes on website fingerprinting attacks and the feasibility of real-time fingerprinting attacks. This work consists of two experiments: A Comparative Study of Website Fingerprinting Attacks in V2 and V3 Onion Services of Tor Networks and Enhanced Real-Time Fingerprinting Attacks on Tor Networks. These experiments involve analyzing the differences between V2 and V3 …

An Analysis Of Android Malware Detection Using Tree Learning Techniques, Kyler D. Dickey Aug 2022

An Analysis Of Android Malware Detection Using Tree Learning Techniques, Kyler D. Dickey

Student Theses and Dissertations

Android malware is a growing threat, coinciding with the increasing adoption of the Android platform. Malware detection methods used to maintain user privacy and system integrity are increasingly becoming the subject of research. Many new methods studied employ learning algorithms to detect malicious programs. This study investigates the use of byte and opcode frequency features as inputs for tree-based machine learning methods. The algorithm is optimized to reduce overfitting given input hyperparameter combinations and is tuned using cross-validation procedures. Lastly, the study deliberates on possible avenues for future research to gather more concrete evidence for the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of …

A Sgx-Based And Quantum-Resitant Secure Cloud Storage System, Hexuan Yu Aug 2021

A Sgx-Based And Quantum-Resitant Secure Cloud Storage System, Hexuan Yu

Student Theses and Dissertations

Data outsourcing is a promising approach in the cloud era for efficiently providing a large amount of storage to many remote clients. However, storing data on untrusted servers raise security concerns and data privacy is one of the most fundamental dilemmas in those data outsourcing infrastructures. Applying encryption to data may provide data confidentiality, but it is not sufficient to address such concerns. Recent cyberattacks targeting cloud applications (e.g., Apple iCloud, LinkedIn, Verizon), in which the privacy of millions of customers was compromised, have demonstrated the importance of preserving data secrecy in the untrusted execution environment. The the main research …

Sharcs: Secure Hierarchical Adaptive Reliable Cloud Storage Systems, Chaoyu Zhang Aug 2021

Sharcs: Secure Hierarchical Adaptive Reliable Cloud Storage Systems, Chaoyu Zhang

Student Theses and Dissertations

The recent development of cloud technology provides an on-demand availability of storage and computing resource without purchasing expensive hardware. However, traditional cloud storage services encountered challenges in data security, network communications, and system performance to emerging applications. Furthermore, these challenges have a significant influence when the massive IoT devices access cloud and the outsourcing data loss of physical control. Therefore, we design the SHARCS (Secure Hierarchical Adaptive Reliable Cloud Storage) systems to implement the multi-layer cloud storage that outsources parallelized ABE (Attribute-Based Encryption) to fog servers and equip IoT devices with TrustZone. This study aims to provide a general-purpose solution …

Three-Tier Storage Systems Based On Fog Computing, Ruiwen Shan Aug 2020

Three-Tier Storage Systems Based On Fog Computing, Ruiwen Shan

Student Theses and Dissertations

With the rapid development of cloud computing technology, cloud storage services are being paid more and more attention and used by a lot of people. The cloud storage services not only greatly reduce the overhead of local storage for the data owner, but also efficiently implement data sharing between users. However, in a cloud storage system, data owners store local data in the cloud, thereby losing the control of the data, which can easily lead to the leakage of user data. For example, a cloud service provider can privately view a user’s sensitive data and even reveal data to users …

Gpu Acceleration Of Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption, Kai Fan Apr 2019

Gpu Acceleration Of Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption, Kai Fan

Student Theses and Dissertations

With the development of cloud computing, data security became popular in recent decades. The public key cryptography has its limitation for a considerable number of receivers, which need encrypt the plaintext several times which based on the receivers' number. Bethencourt. Et al., introduced Ciphertext-policy Attribute-based encryption (ABE) in 2007. CP-ABE became one of the hottest topics in the cryptography system. Because of the advantage of CP-ABE system, which is easy to use for remote storage or distributed data centers. Meanwhile, CP-ABE can provide fine-grain access control, which has the flexibility to send ciphertexts. However, it has such advantages, but the …
