This study analyzed 92 days of sensor-captured Remote Identification (RID) data collected near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to assess operational behaviors, aviation risk, and ground risk associated with drone activity. Its main goal is to find patterns between initial cyber incidents and what happens next. It looks at whether responses tend to escalate, calm down, or stay about the same over time. The increasing adoption of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) has improved healthcare delivery through connected medical devices while simultaneously expanding the cybersecurity risks facing healthcare organizations. Although machine learning based intrusion detection systems have demonstrated high detection accuracy, their ability to respond reliably to previously unseen cyberattacks remains uncertain. This study investigated how a Neural Network model and a Logistic Regression model classified novel cyberattacks within the IoMT environment. The rapid adoption of Large Language Models (LLMs) in software development has transformed coding practices by enabling automated code generation, completion, and optimization. Despite these advantages, concerns persist regarding the security and reliability of LLM-generated code. This study presents a comprehensive evaluation of both the functional correctness and security of code produced by three prominent LLMs as of early 2026. A total of 4,800 code snippets were generated using 100 security-focused programming prompts derived from the OWASP Top 10:2025, translated across eight natural languages and two phrasing styles (literal and natural developer-oriented prompts). Accurately detecting malicious programs is an expanding field of research for machine learning (ML), with a novel approach incorporating a bytecode-to-image pipeline that produces images representative of software. These images are provided to convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to be examined for malicious pattern indicators. However, CNNs struggle to generalize these patterns effectively while still being robust against adversarial data, an issue which this research addresses with adversarial training. Large-scale software systems produce vast volumes of logs and telemetry, making manual incident triage slow and error prone. This study presents an unsupervised anomaly detection pipeline that fuses logs, metrics, and traces through late fusion. Using Hybrid Ensemble modeling with Isolation Forest, and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) Deep Learning model, the system detects cross-service anomalies producing and assigning a composite triage score reflecting severity and impact. The proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) across critical domains, including news summarization, privacy-policy analysis, and medical decision support, has raised growing concerns about the security and robustness of these systems against adversarial manipulation. This dissertation investigates adversarial robustness in generative AI by addressing three key research goals: (1) characterizing adversarial vulnerabilities across generative models, (2) developing systematic defenses to improve the robustness of generative models, and (3) designing deployment-time safeguards for securing LLM interactions.

Lost In The Language: Data Breaches And The Strategic Fog Of Risk Disclosures, Ling Tuo, Shipeng Han

This study examines whether firms strategically adjust the readability of Item 1A (“Risk Factors”) disclosures following data breaches. Using U.S. firm-year observations from 2006 to 2023, we find that data breaches are associated with a significant decline in Item 1A readability. This decline is not accompanied by a meaningful increase in informational content; instead, post-breach disclosures exhibit higher syntactic complexity, more positive tone, and lower textual similarity to prior and industry peers' filings, consistent with strategic obfuscation rather than transparent reporting. This dissertation addresses the critical challenge of adversarial robustness in deep learning systems, focusing on two fundamental domains: time-series prediction and object detection. As these AI systems become increasingly deployed in safety-critical applications from power grid management to autonomous vehicles their vulnerability to adversarial attacks poses significant risks to infrastructure and human safety.

The first contribution introduces a novel stealthy black-box False Data Injection (FDI) attack specifically designed for quasi-periodic time-series data. Large Language Models (LLMs) are transforming conversational AI, yet their dependence on prompt-supplied context exposes them to context-switch attacks that covertly steer dialogue toward sensitive or malicious ends. A 70 one-sided conversation transcript evaluation set was constructed spanning various fraudulent scenarios. Each transcript embeds adversarial patterns drawn while preserving natural conversational flow. We introduce a hybrid defense that pairs a BERT-based semantic-drift detector (cosine-similarity threshold = 0.70) with a curated keyword and hack-phrase scanner to counter these threats. In aggregate, the system delivered 100 % recall, intercepting every simulated phishing or data-harvesting attempt. The keyword layer achieved perfect precision, generating …

In this dissertation, we take a step towards addressing the major problem of a lack of standardized and rigorous approaches to testing and evaluation of AI systems. Taking inspiration from both the fields of Property Testing and Property Based Testing (for programs), we develop a novel taxonomy of partially overlapping classes of properties of AI systems, including simple properties, compound properties, higher order properties, data relation properties, and architecture-utility properties. Private inference applies cryptographic techniques like homomorphic encryption, garble circuit and secret sharing to keep both sides privacy in a client-server setting during inference. It is often hindered by the high communication overheads, especially at non-linear activation layers such as ReLU. The Internet of Urban Things (IoUTs) regularly generates large amounts of data, making it a focus of cyberthreats such as denial-of-service attacks and malware bot networks. Traditional intrusion detection systems struggle to detect intricate attack patterns, handle class imbalance, capture temporal dependencies, and exhibit transparency. To address these limitations, we introduce a novel deep machine learning model, DeepSecure, a hybrid model that combines Deep Belief Networks (DBN) for hierarchical feature extraction and Deep Neural Networks for attack classification. Large Language Models (LLMs) exhibit strong natural language processing capabilities but also pose significant privacy risks, particularly regarding the leakage of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) embedded in their training data. Existing PII extraction methods suffer from the limitations of low success rates or impracticality for large-scale PII extraction. In this study, we propose a novel PII extraction approach based on enhanced few-shot learning techniques, which achieves efficient and cost-effective PII retrieval without relying on fine-tuning or jailbreaking. Yet, users frequently face a dilemma between creating passwords that are easy to remember and sufficiently secure against cyberattacks. This research introduces an approach to password generation that bridges this gap by utilizing linguistic patterns, particularly song lyrics, to develop highly secure and naturally memorable passwords. Monte Carlo simulations are commonly employed to generate impact scenarios for trade-off analysis combined with solution alternatives that accommodate industry-specific considerations and uncertainties. In the cyber domain, this paper proposes a methodology for data-driven trade-off analysis in cybersecurity, leveraging industry reports as primary data sources using confidentiality, integrity, and availability as trade-off analysis objectives. Cyberbullying and its associated consequences on children and adolescents has recently become a problem of global concern. Using phenomenological research design, this study explores the negative effects of cyberbullying on Tanzanian secondary school female and male adolescents. A total of 20 adolescents (50% female) in secondary schools (Form I to Form IV) who identified themselves as victims of cyberbullying were involved in the interview to share their lived experiences on the negative effects of cyberbullying.
