Test Case Generation Using Combinatorial Based Coverage For Rich Web Applications, Chad Maughan
Test Case Generation Using Combinatorial Based Coverage For Rich Web Applications, Chad Maughan
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Web applications are increasingly moving business and processing logic from the server to the browser. Traditional, multiple-page request/response applications are quickly being replaced by single-page applications where complex application logic is downloaded on the initial page load and data is then subsequently fetched asynchronously via the browser's native XMLHttpRequest (XHR) object.
These new generation web applications are called Rich Web Applications (RWA). Frameworks such as the Google Web Toolkit (GWT), and JavaScript model-view-controller (MVC) frameworks such as Backbone.js are facilitating this move. With this migration, testing frameworks need to follow the logic by moving analysis and test generation from the …
Insider Threat Mitigation Models Based On Thresholds And Dependencies, Harini Ragavan
Insider Threat Mitigation Models Based On Thresholds And Dependencies, Harini Ragavan
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Insider threat causes great damage to data in any organization and is considered a serious issue. In spite of the presence of threat prevention mechanisms, sophisticated insiders still continue to attack a database with new techniques. One such technique which remains an advantage for insiders to attack databases is the dependency relationship among data items. This thesis investigates the ways by which an authorized insider detects dependencies in order to perform malicious write operations. The goal is to monitor malicious write operations performed by an insider by taking advantage of dependencies. A term called `threshold' is associated with every data …

Adaptive Re-Segmentation Strategies For Accurate Bright Field Cell Tracking, Nare Hayrapetyan
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Cell migration is central for many fundamental biological processes and development of multi-cellular organisms. The failure of cells to migrate or migration of cells to inappropriate locations during embryo development can result in life threatening consequences such as brain malfunctions. In adults, cell migration plays an important role in wound healing and immune responses. Failure in these processes can have dramatic medical implications and can lead to vascular diseases and tumor formation. Therefore, studying cell migration is critical to helping prevent and cure diseases.
Cell migration is usually studied by observing cells photographed through a microscope at regular time intervals. …

Fast Neural Network Algorithm For Solving Classification Tasks, Noor Albarakati
Fast Neural Network Algorithm For Solving Classification Tasks, Noor Albarakati
Theses and Dissertations
Classification is one-out-of several applications in the neural network (NN) world. Multilayer perceptron (MLP) is the common neural network architecture which is used for classification tasks. It is famous for its error back propagation (EBP) algorithm, which opened the new way for solving classification problems given a set of empirical data. In the thesis, we performed experiments by using three different NN structures in order to find the best MLP neural network structure for performing the nonlinear classification of multiclass data sets. A developed learning algorithm used here is the batch EBP algorithm which uses all the data as a …

Contributions To K-Means Clustering And Regression Via Classification Algorithms, Raied Salman
Contributions To K-Means Clustering And Regression Via Classification Algorithms, Raied Salman
Theses and Dissertations
The dissertation deals with clustering algorithms and transforming regression prob-lems into classification problems. The main contributions of the dissertation are twofold; first, to improve (speed up) the clustering algorithms and second, to develop a strict learn-ing environment for solving regression problems as classification tasks by using support vector machines (SVMs). An extension to the most popular unsupervised clustering meth-od, k-means algorithm, is proposed, dubbed k-means2 (k-means squared) algorithm, appli-cable to ultra large datasets. The main idea is based on using a small portion of the dataset in the first stage of the clustering. Thus, the centers of such a smaller …

Since 2010, two significant international regulations regarding medical device development have come into force, the amendment to the European Union (EU) Medical Device Directive (MDD) 2007/47/EC and the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Final rule on Medical Device Data Systems (MDDS). Adherence to these regulations is mandatory to be able to market a medical device in the respective region. The ability to understand these regulations and apply them to a development project can be difficult. The MDDS final rule changes the safety classification of a number of devices from Class III-high risk to Class I-low risk. The …

Experimental Evaluation Of The Effect Of Queue Management Schemes On The Performance Of High Speed Tcps In 10gbps Network Environment, Lin Xue, Cheng Cui, Suman Kumar, Seung Jong Park
Computer Science Faculty Research & Creative Works
Queue management schemes at the routers and congestion avoidance schemes at the end points cooperate to provide good congestion solutions in computer networks. While queue management schemes are still being developed, research on congestion avoidance has come a long way to serve the bandwidth requirement of the networks (e.g. high-speed networks, data centers, etc.) at the order of 10Gbps. Because of considerable lack on the evaluation research work, there is no consensus on the choice of the queue management algorithms over these networks. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that presents experimental evaluation of the …

Protecting Privacy Of Users' Electronic Health Records With The Abttp Scheme, Raed M. Salih
Protecting Privacy Of Users' Electronic Health Records With The Abttp Scheme, Raed M. Salih
Research and Creative Activities Poster Day
The digital form of healthcare information is becoming more and more widespread in healthcare information systems, replacing “paper” medical records with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) or Electronic Medical Records.
The use of EHRs has a number of goals: (i) improving safety, quality, and efficiency of healthcare; (ii) reducing healthcare costs; and (iii) enriching healthcare research and public health monitoring.
However, facilitating data exchange via use of patients’ EHRs can increase privacy threats due to easier copying and dissemination of these EHRs among more entities (health insurance companies, federal or state government agencies, and research centers).
Native Cardinality Constraints: More Expressive, More Efficient Constraints, Jordyn C. Maglalang
Native Cardinality Constraints: More Expressive, More Efficient Constraints, Jordyn C. Maglalang
Honors Projects
Boolean cardinality constraints are commonly translated (encoded) into Boolean CNF, a standard form for Boolean satisfiability problems, which can be solved using a standard SAT solving program. However, cardinality constraints are a simple generalization of clauses, and the complexity entailed by encoding them into CNF can be avoided by reasoning about cardinality constraints natively within a SAT solver. In this work, we compare the performance of two forms of native cardinality constraints against some of the best performing encodings from the literature. We designed a number of experiments, modeling the general use of cardinality constraints including crafted, random and application …
The Design And Implementation Of A Bytecode For Optimization On Heterogeneous Systems, Kerry A. Seitz
The Design And Implementation Of A Bytecode For Optimization On Heterogeneous Systems, Kerry A. Seitz
Computer Science Honors Theses
As hardware architectures shift towards more heterogeneous platforms with different vari- eties of multi- and many-core processors and graphics processing units (GPUs) by various manufacturers, programmers need a way to write simple and highly optimized code without worrying about the specifics of the underlying hardware. To meet this need, I have designed a virtual machine and bytecode around the goal of optimized execution on highly variable, heterogeneous hardware, instead of having goals such as small bytecodes as was the ob- jective of the Java R Virtual Machine. The approach used here is to combine elements of the Dalvik R virtual …

Monte Carlo Simulations Of Electron Scattering Experiments, Alan Russian, Bruno Deharak, Faculty Advisor, Mark Liffiton, Faculty Advisor
John Wesley Powell Student Research Conference
This project aims to look at the impact made by certain approximations in electron scattering experiments—specifically whether accounting for these approximation errors is necessary. When using a moveable gun mount, the interaction volume can be determined using a line and cylinder approximation. Data is presented comparing this approximation to the actual volume computed using a Monte Carlo method. A uniform gas distribution is compared to a cosine-squared distribution gas distribution. Additionally, an energy spectrum of a uniform beam is compared to a Gaussian beam for various polarization angles, and a comparison is made between representing the beam as a cone …
K-8 Preservice Teachers’ Inductive Reasoning In The Problem-Solving Contexts, Marta Magiera
K-8 Preservice Teachers’ Inductive Reasoning In The Problem-Solving Contexts, Marta Magiera
Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Faculty Research and Publications
This paper reports the results from an exploratory study of K-8 pre-service teachers’ inductive reasoning. The analysis of 130 written solutions to seven tasks and 77 reflective journals completed by 20 pre-service teachers lead to descriptions of inductive reasoning processes, i.e. specializing, conjecturing, generalizing, and justifying, in the problem-solving contexts. The uncovered characterizations of the four inductive reasoning processes were further used to describe pathways of successful generalizations. The results highlight the importance of specializing and justifying in constructing powerful generalizations. Implications for teacher education are discussed.
