An Efficient Water-Mediated Synthetic Route For The Alkylation Of Heteroarenes, Pinar Seyi̇tdanlioğlu, Essam Hamied Ahmed Hanashalhalshahaby, Canan Ünaleroğlu

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

An efficient synthetic route has been described for the alkylation of 1$H$-indole, 1$H$-benzimidazole, and 1$H$-benzotriazole. This approach features the alkylation of heteroaromatics through in situ generated enones from ketonic Mannich bases under metal-free conditions. A series of alkylated heteroaromatics have been synthesized via the K10 catalyzed alkylation reactions of these heteroaromatics with a variety of ketonic Mannich bases. Environmentally benign K10 catalyst, water-mediated mild reaction conditions, and the efficient synthesis of alkylated products are the advantages of this alkylation method.

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Our studies on the selective catalytic reduction of NO (SCR-deNO) properties of M/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ (M = Mn, Co, Cu) nanocatalysts are presented. All catalysts were prepared by homogeneous deposition precipitation using urea as the precursor for the precipitating agent. The SCR activity followed the order Mn/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3} >$ Cu/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3} >$ Co/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$. The nanocatalysts were characterized with respect to their texture (N$_{2}$-BET), particle size (TEM), reducibility (H$_{2}$-TPR), and acidity (NH$_{3}$-TPD). The TEM analysis revealed that the metal species have superior dispersion with less agglomeration and sintering on $\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ support. The H$_{2}$-TPR results confirmed that the Mn/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ nanocatalyst …

Synchrotron X-Ray Diffraction Studies Of $\Beta $-Ca$_{2-X}M_{X}$Sio$_{4}$ ($M$ = Mg And Sr), Anti Prodjosantoso, Brendan Kennedy

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The structures of Mg- and Sr-doped $\beta $-Ca$_{2}$SiO$_{4}$ have been established from high-resolution synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction. These silicates are all isostructural and the structures have been refined in the monoclinic space group, $P$2$_{1}$/$n$. As expected based on size arguments, the cell parameters increase as the amount of Sr increases and likewise decrease as the amount of Mg increases due the size effects of the dopant cation. In all cases the SiO$_{4}$ tetrahedra are essentially regular.

Synthesis Of Novel 5-Substituted Phenyl-3-(P-Isopropylphenyl)-1-Phenylformazan And Their Biological Activities, Ayşe Şahi̇n Yağlioğlu, Hülya Şenöz

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Novel 1-substituted 3-(p-isopropylphenyl)-5-phenylformazans (3a--g) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, $^{1}$H NMR, and FT-IR techniques and UV-visible spectroscopy. Antiproliferative activities of 3a--g against HeLa and C6 cells were determined using the BrdU cell proliferation ELISA assay. 5-Florouracil was used as the positive control. The effects of substituents (--H, --CH$_{3}$, and --I) and their positions ($ortho$, $meta$, and $para$) on the antiproliferative activities were evaluated. The results of the assay indicate that I substituent exhibited higher activity against the cells at the $meta$ and $para$ positions than --CH$_{3}$ and --H substituents. 3a--g exhibited both high antiproliferative activities against C6 cells …

Separation of morphine and its impurities (related substances specified in relevant European Pharmacopoeia monographs, as well as the other naturally occurring coextracted alkaloids) was obtained within a close retention window on a reverse phase HPLC column, eluted with optimized gradient, consisting of methanol and 5 mM ammonium formate, adjusted to pH 10.2. Systematic optimization of the chromatographic conditions was carried out using design of experiments. According to their mass spectra, known and specified impurities were identified and tentative structures for unknown impurities were proposed. MS analyses were performed in positive ionization mode using heated electrospray ionization. Fragmentation patterns of the …
